Going into this fight Darchinyan was defending his WBA and WBC belts while Rojas was the WBC interim super flyweight champion.

At the opening bell Darchinyan came out of his corner fast and straight at Rojas with all intentions of ending the fight early; Rojas had other plans when he met his opponent in the middle of the ring and landed a hard counter punch that sent Darchinyan into a clinch. Rojas had a good defense and scored with his lead left hand. At the end of the first round Darchinyan threw a flurry of punches most of which were blocked by Rojas who did enough to carry the first round.

At the start of the second round both southpaws met at center ring being much less aggressive and timing their punches. Both men threw some hard punches during this round, Darchinyan threw an uppercut that missed and almost made his lose his balance. It was a pretty even fight going into the last 10 seconds of the round; Rojas had his back to the ropes when Darchinyan landed a left to the side of Rojas’ head and quickly landed a left to the chin of Rojas that sent him to the canvas. The official time was 2:54 of the second round; Darchinyan is the winner by KO.

Vic Darchinyan improves his record to 33-2-1 with 27 KO’s; Tomas Rojas falls to 32-12-1 with 22 KO’s

Great KO. It looked like it was a bodyshot but in replay it showed Vic anticipated Rojas ducking down and nailed him clean

    is vic, is good
time for Vic to be a headline grabber. he is great value for money
would like it to have gone longer, maybe see some rojas arm shots, but was still happy to see it go the wa it went

there is already some footage on a popular “tube” web site so- while poor quality- it can be seen for those who missed it. i have to give vic credit. that was a massive shot. whether Rojas walked into the upper cut i dont know, but vic is a really impressive boxer whois going from strength to strength.i know he’d like to fight Manny, but the weight gap is too much and i dont think vic is up for rising weight divisions.
maybe he has found his weight range now. either way he is very exciting and good for TV., you just know you are going to get good value for your PPV buy in. it just might not last long, thats all.
