Chisora-Skelton to join huge bill at Wembley Arena on 13th February – News
By Peter Wells: With Danny Williams-Sam Sexton set for 13th February 2010 at Wembley Arena – which Danny has said will be his last fight – Derek Chisora who was already announced to be on the bill will now fight former European Heavyweight boxing champion Matt Skelton. It is to be an eliminator for the British Heavyweight title. This is a big fight for Derek Chisora whom has already stopped Sam Sexton who will be the heavy favourite going into his British title shot, so a rematch would be a big chance for Derek to prove it wasn’t a fluke and is up their with the best.
Matt wasn’t fazed and came back to win the European title off tough Italian Paolo Vidoz in a stormer which saw Vidoz retire on his stool after 9 rounds. Then he took on Martin Rogan, and in another cracker was cut over his left eye before being dramatically stopped in the 11th round. Unfortunately everything went to pot in his first defence of his European title being stopped in 8 by Francesco Pianeta.
Now coming off two hard defeats Matt is fighting for his career in this fight, and a bad defeat here could see the end of it. Luckily for him Derek isn’t that strong but stopped tough Sam Sexton last year and would love to do the same to Skelton.
Also added to the bill is Kevin Mitchell who will defend his WBO Inter-Continental Lightweight title, nobody has been called up yet, but this should be set up for a great night of British boxing.

Dont underate Chisora its good as awakening a sleeping beast.Chisora will knock Skelton down there is no other way like it or not…..
I think Sexton has come along way since his defeat to Chisora what with his prizefighter wins and two wars with Rogan and would come out on top in a rematch but I dont think Chisora will beat Skelton nless he hits and runs, if he tries to bite Skeltons ear he will get into a dirty scrap he’ll wish he hadnt.
if skelton as desire still, then he can burst the bubble of chisora who should of got [ disq ] against paul butlin for doing a mike tyson on him.skelton can lean and bully chisora and give him is 1st loss
Look at the undercard on this night and you will see no world class fighters……. BUT mark my words this will be one of the best nights of boxing in 2010..
I have to say looking at the bill my reaction is to feel rather depressed about the state of Heavyweight Boxing in the UK. Williams? Skelton? They’ve had brief moments on the World Stage, but in fairness were well short of World Class; Sexton and Chisora may be up and coming, but they have a lot of work to do to convince anyone that they’re likely contenders on the world stage. Yes we have a British World Champ in Haye (who did well against Valuev, but now has to raise his game against the Klitschkos) but there’s very little behind him in terms of other contenders.
This seems to be the story much wider than just the UK: at the moment the Heavies are deservedly playing second fiddle to the faster-moving and often more talented smaller men, who seem as well to be that much more ready to put on the fights that the public want to see.
Oh dear Chisora! 11-1 is a good start in the pro ranks for a journeyman
