By Manuel Perez: As reported elsewhere, Manny Pacquiao isn’t interested in taking the random Olympic style drug tests that Floyd Mayweather’s team has asked for. It seems that if he did take the tests, there might be a problem with them causing issues with his training, especially if the tests come directly before the fight.
And to top off this horrible mess, I’m hearing that Paulie Malignaggi is being considered as a replacement opponent for Pacquiao on March 13th. How can Malignaggi be a replacement opponent when he doesn’t even have a title? I suppose Malignaggi is open to fighting Pacquiao without the Olympic style drug tests.
I think this would be a terrible mismatch. Malignaggi isn’t even the best fighter in the light welterweight division. Pacquiao needs to fight Juan Marquez. That’s who he needs to fight if he doesn’t want to take the drug test.

the last news was that pacquiao was willing to take the test on the 30th of January and right after the fight. That’s why the fight was called off. Now he said he’s willing to do the random testing up to 2 days before the fight. It was said on the 24th of December, when he was interviewed. Therefore, he changed his mind. He even said it was a way of Mayweather saying that he doesn’t want to fight Manny. Manny pretty much said that Mayweather is scared to fight him. Now, the latest news is that Manny wants to sue those accusing him of taking performance enhancing drugs. Have I missed anything else? If Manny is willing to take the tests, why is the fight still off?
The argument is by most people though is not that Pacquiao shouldn’t be tested, but why shouldn’t every fighter get the same treatment?
I hope Pacquiao accepts the random drug test now.
1. Once tested clean, he’ll undo all this negative publicity.
2. By dragging the lawsuit through fight time, he’ll threaten taking Floyd’s most precious possession: his money. This will hang over Mayweather the whole time while he’s training. It seems to be fair tradeoff for Mayweather forcing a random drug test.
3. Should Mayweather accept the fight, I hope both try to may the other “pay” for all the troubles leading up to it. We can get the exciting fight we hoped for. Fans win. Also, Manny has the advantage if it becomes a brawl.
In short Manny can do the unthinkable: beat Floyd in and out of the ring.

Now you say Malignaggi is no match for Pacquiao. It seems you favor Pacquiao for the first time. But then I see, it all depends on what you want to pull off all the time. Urine tests are no good. Blood tests 30 days prior and straight after are no good. The only way to catch a drugs cheat in sport is to use random blood tests. Athletes in other sports with more stringent testing rules have and continue to pass tests if taken at the correct times. Steroids are ‘cycled’, you take them for 4 weeks, you have 4 weeks off. Therefore by choosing when you will be tested, as Manny wants to do, means you can continue to take steroids around the testing date without fear of getting caught. The fact that the pacquiao camp will only agree to the blood tests as long as they can choose when they will happen is as good as an admission of guilt. If they had just said NO full stop, I’d still be unsure. But to make up some nonsense story about Pac taking loads of time to recover and it affecting him mentally, therefore they need to choose the dates tells me all I need to know. Any half decent doctor with experience in PEDs can get past urine tests and scheduled blood tests. Random blood tests are the ONLY way to be 100% sure. This is not mayweather being awkward, it’s just anything less than this is a waste of time. And ask yourself, who’s walking away from the fight now? It’s not mayweathers camp. Btw, did you see how strong Amir Khan looked in his last fight? Manny Pacquiao is first of all INNOCENT. He has taken the test and past it all. Now because Floyd Sr. threw it out their and see if it will, apparently it stuck good. Floyd Sr. and Golden Boy Production, will be in hot water if this goes to court. Especially all they have are claims and nothing concrete. What they did made Manny guilty of taking PED just by assumptions without any evidence or proof.While Manny has taken all the test by the boxing commissions and passed every single one of them. If they don’t have any sort of solid evidence, they will be found guilty of defamation of character. This will be in millions and could potentially wipe out both Mayweathers and Golden Boy if they are found guilty. I know a couple people who are tattooed up to yang and are afraid to give blood whether it is for a blood bank or for blood test.It is called a phobia. It is like when you see tough guys who can fight and show no fear, but all of sudden they have this problem with depression and they sometimes cower like children and fear totally over comes them. People have psychological issues and phobias. Another example I don’t have a problem getting on an airplane and flying over 30,000 feet but I have fear even looking over the roof a 4 story building. I can fly over 30,000 feet but I can’t walk on a roof without fear. So don’t assume just because Manny has many tattoos isn’t the reason why he doesn’t like needles. He might be afraid on blood being taken. Everyone has quirks, including myself, yourself and every self.

latest news! Pacquiao is willing to take the tests but only up to 2 days before the fight. Sounds reasonable. That way there is nothing that would make him feel weak during the fight. He’s willing to take it right after the fight as well. As far as I’m concerned, there are no performance drugs that only last 2 days in a body. If Pacquiao takes a performance drug 2 days before, it will definitely show up on the test right after the fight.
Pacquiao doesn’t want Mayweather to think that everyone will be done his way. Now that Pacquiao has agreed, what will floyd say next?
That would explain how Pacman can move up in weight and have even more power, that rarely happens if at all. It was hard enough for a lightweight champion to move up to welterweight and become champion, Pacman started at a lighter weight and knocked out a full welterweight, not to mention his unwillingness to take a simple blood test. Well, let’s see. Pacquiao said he would take the test after the fight. He also said he would take it weeks before the fight. This way, he can recover from anything that might affect him.
Let’s put it on Floyd. Against Marquez, all he had to do was come in at 144lbs. Nope, didn’t do it. All he had to do was give his official weight at the night of the fight. Nope, didn’t do it. At least Pacquiao is being up front. He’s not hiding anything. He’s willing to take the tests, but only after and way before the fight. Therefore, he hasn’t turned down the tests. Floyd shouldn’t be talking about a fair fight. Look at what he did to Marquez. Did he give Marquez a fair shot? Nope. A true boxer would come in weighing at the limit or less. If he didn’t want to come in at 144lbs, he shouldn’t have agreed to the weight. For all of you Mayweather fans who say that his weight had nothing to do with the fight and that his skill is what killed Marquez, then I have to ask you one thing. If his weight and size didn’t matter, then why does it matter with Pacquiao. The HGH that all of you supposedly say he is taking should be making him larger, thus stronger. The question/ that fight fans should be asking is what physical change has occurred since Manny beat Lehonoloa Ledwaba? Has he gotten grotesquely huge? How about picking up punching power? I have seen the graphics on pre and post weigh-in fight weight as much as any person who has access to you tube or any other Google search engine websites. Manny was always around 130-145 lbs prior to stepping into the ring. He hasn’t gained absurd amounts of additional muscle or weight since then. The question that should be asked is how does taking HGH, or even the best made performance enhancing pharmaceuticals enhance ones ability to take a shot to the chin? It cant! Or how about this, what 16 year old male doesn’t gain 32 pounds as he matures, get better access to training and nutrition, goes through puberty and becomes a full grown man? who started all this talk of pac taking steroids? yes, mayweather sr, a convicted drug dealer! mayweather nuthuggers, do you not see the irony in all this. pbf, a high school dropout, is just as street savvy. these guys are con artists and obviously have no class.
now, eventhough the mayweathers are bottom-feeders and classless, they do bring up a valid point of PED allegations of pacquiao that must be addressed. i feel pac, with his consent of having his blood drawn two times before the fight and immediately after the fight is enough for PEDs and steroids to be detected in the bloodstream. going with pbf, however, is just ridiculous and truly is just excessive because pbf essentially has made himself the sole authority in boxing. what’s next? does floyd get pick his own boxing judges now also or demand certain boxing judges?
standards and boxing commissions are set forth to govern… it’s not boxers demanding the other way around. pac, addressing the steroid use, has never denied the testing to go forth. he is willing already to go above and beyond any boxing commission regulations and have agreed to have his blood to be drawn a few times… but pbf asking for more is just ridiculous and unrealistic. obviously, pbf is asking pac to bend over backwards for him and submit himself to all his demands. last time i checked, pbf calls himself the greatest yet none of the true greats ever acted this way. he supposedly is the bigger, slicker, more skilled fighter against a one-dimensional smaller fighter who likes to bang.

Always thought that every judicial body in the world stipulates, “Innocent until proven guilty”.
This fight will happen. But concessions will be made back and forth. It is in the best interest of everyone to make the fight happen.
A difference between Manny and Floyd is that Manny fights for pride and country. Floyd fights for himself and his legacy. Different personas, but both are great competitors. Manny will submit to this requirement, but it will not be without concessions.
Let me stress, both climbed the weight classes from when they started their careers. Floyd started out as an amateur weighing less than 115lbs and went on to be a Golden Gloves champ at a lower weight. Same with Manny, the guy started at 106 when he was 16. He gained 32 pounds in 15 years. That is not out of this world. Heck, anyone can gain 20lbs in a year. Again, this is posturing and a case wherein one fighter is trying to get as much psychological advantage over the other. Such is sport.

I believe it’s a matter of principle on Pacquiao’s part. No doubt, there are a lot of people who are suspicious of Pacquiao’s success because of the way he has dispatched his much bigger opponents, but allegations are simply allegations until otherwise proven to be true and factual.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are multi-division winners, meaning they have climbed several weight classes and have been successful doing so. Mayweather has fought Dela Hoya, Corrales, Castillo, Judah, and other multi-division fighters. Why didn’t he subject the same drug requirements for these fighters? Why start now? And it’s not as if Pacquiao has not faced multi-division fighters in the past as well: Barrera, Morales, Marquez, ODH, and Cotto. Mayweather is just posturing and trying to get as much advantage as he can.
As for Manny, I think he should allow them to take blood until 1 week before the fight, that’s it. They can have blood tests once a week leading to the fight including urine, but there has to be a deadline as to when he can give blood. He is an extremely superstitious fighter, and if he mentally thinks giving blood weakens him, then you give the guy the leeway. He is not ducking the tests, he just wants reasonable concessions for an otherwise extraordinary demand from Mayweather. Remember that this is the first time a professional fight will be done with Olympic-style testing. If this is done now, it should be done for ALL fights, not just this one.
I believe the fight will push through. Too much money involved. And I believe it will be a 12-rounder with the fresher, gutsier fighter winning it. Whoever loses will not lose face. It will reinforce both fighters’ legacies.
Just a question though… Where does this leave the Nevada Boxing Commission then?
Bob Arum’s proposed schedule is absolutely acceptable. The schedule will detect any wrong doing, if any, on the part of Pacquiao, especially the test immediately after the fight. Everything’s that’s been happening are all mind games. I don’t doubt Pacquiao is a clean fighter and he’s never failed a drug test ever. I’m thinking Mayweather is probably saying: “You have to do this to fight me” and Pacquiao is saying: “I don’t have to fight you even if you have to call me names”. It’s like a lovers’ back and forth.
The big deal is; mayweather is not the authority to dictate what test and who will be the body or agency to conduct the test.
