Alexander-Maidana almost set for March 6th; Khan could be on undercard- News

By Peter Wells: According to Boxing scene.com, Devon Alexander is returning to the ring to defend his World Boxing Council Light Welterweight title. Marcos Maidana is most likely to be the next opponent but the contract is still to be signed. The fight will be televised on HBO a week before the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao. They are interested in getting WBA Light Welterweight champion Amir Khan to defend in the co-feature, with Paulie Malignaggi, Nate Campbell and IBF champion Juan Urango are the three big possibility’s for Amir.

Also International Boxing Federation Light Middleweight champion Cory Spinks could also feature on the undercard. There is no venue as yet and both venues in St. Louis are booked for March 6th, which is the hometown of Alexander.

This will be a night to look forward to especially if Khan is lured onto the undercard; it would be Amir’s American debut and would like to send out a big statement against one of the top names at the 140lb weight division. Also with both Alexander and Khan fighting on the show could lead to unification later next year which promoters are already looking at.

There are no other fighters linked to Devon, so Marcos will defiantly be expected to be in the opposite corner on the night. Freddie Roach will also be available for this fight instead of Khan fighting on Pacman’s show, Roach can have full concentration on both fighters.
