Who’s next for Manny?

pac32222By Paolo Angelo Natanawan: After the stunning victory against Miguel Angel Cotto, a lot of questions are again starting to pile up but there is only one worth answering. Who’s next for Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (50-3-2), 38 KO’s) Freddie Roach wants what most of the fans, boxing analyst/experts and ordinary people around the world also wants, Floyd Mayweather Jr (40-0, 25 KO’s).

Is that fight gonna happen? For me honestly, chances of it happening is really slim. A lot of reasons preventing it to happen. One is Bob Arum’s unwillingness to work with Mayweather. Two, Mayweather is going to ask for more “MONEY” of course than what he deserves while Pacquiao will also demand the same thing. Both side will ask for a 60/40 split and I don’t see anyone backing down. Even though most of you would agree with me that Pacquiao deserves more than Mayweather. Why would number 2 receives more than number 1? As for the fight prediction I’ll provide a new article for that.

Mayweather is not the only choice for Manny. He can fight Shane Mosley(46-5-0). He is also a good fighter. Even if he lost against Cotto. Though again some of you might say what’s the point of fighting someone who lost to the fighter whom you already have defeated? But still, A Pacquiao-Mosley fight promises a good fight and more feasible than a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Keep in mind Mosley defeated plaster-packed Margarito. The one who gave the other loss to Cotto.

Some are talking about the likes of Paul Williams(37-1-0 light middleweight) and Kermit Cintron(32-2-1 light middleweight). These guys now are both big(Williams 6′1” while Cintron 5′11”) and really heavy. If both guys would agree to face Manny at 145 – 147. There’s no point in Manny going to 154 to meet them. When Paul last fought at 145 1/2 is against Carlos Quintana last year. He won via TKO in the first round. Cintron last fought at 146 1/2 against Lovemore N’dou and Antonio Margarito also last year. He won against N’dou via unanimous decision and lost against Margarito via KO in the 6th round another controversial win because of the loaded wraps. Considering both guys agreed to fight at welterweight. This is again another David vs Goliath match. Manny would be up against really big ones, I mean literally. Difference between them is noticeable. Height and reach advantage very clear. But then again I would still pick Pacquiao. Nothing is impossible. Did you see the Valuev-Haye fight? See the difference? Probably another article for that one when it comes.

And also there is Juan Manuel Marquez. You can’t count him out yet just because he lost to Mayweather. He was blinded by his eagerness to fight Pacquiao that he didn’t saw what was in front of him. He thought if he beats Mayweather, Pacquiao would have to face him. That’s what he wants. Why not give it to him? Certainly would make someone here very happy and excited that this site will be flooded with very biased, one-sided BS. I mean pure, untainted, fresh from the pot nonsense. Still I would pick Manny against Marquez.

The only fighter I have trouble seeing Manny walking away with a win against is Mayweather. Anyone who will say its a sure win for either side really knows nothing about both fighters or even boxing for that matter. Still if I were to chose between them, I would pick Manny.

Oh by the way, have you guys seen the latest post of the infamous ones here? So sure they was before the fight but now backing down on their words and now finding themselves making excuses. Really pathetic. One of them even said What will Pacquiao’s excuses will be when he lose the fight? Now he’s the one making excuses. They deserve to get burned.

Let me know if you have other dream fights you see in the future.

just take a pill…to stop your conspiracy theory..sour loser

  • BlackDogClan says:

The obvious solution for the money split is: the winner get 65% and the loser gets 35% Or 55%-45%

For this fight, give more incentive to winning.

Just by looking on how they fight i have to pick cotto all the way, i dont see how can pac beat cotto, cotto is a real fighter who really know to beat the other guy and not by luck. • jhon foreman says:

I don’t hate Pacquiao or Roach but I don’t considered him as a great boxer, because every time he fight, always all in favor on he’s side with the approval of the people behind the close curtain.

  • jhon foreman says:

In Roach statement that Cotto have problem of losing weight. First Cotto was defeated by Margarito who has a bricks in his globe, then he fall in Roach trick. Miguel Cotto accepted a catch weight of 145lbs in favor of Pacquio because he want to prove to the boxing world that he could win the fight to a person who gain weight and power, while he is losing and draining, that’s lead him to his most painful defeat in his entire career, But even with his condition Cotto give Pacquiao a good beating, that’s indication that, in his real natural weight Pacquiao will suffer the most worse defeat in his entire career. When Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard fought theirs no catch weight.

  • jhon foreman says:

Welterweight limit are 147lbs and up, now Pacquiao win one of the belt in welterweight in 145lbs catch weight, should the commission will change the weight of welterweight just to accommodate the goose that lay the golden egg in favor of Roach and Pacquiao

  • jhon foreman says:

After winning the belt to Diaz Pacquiao became a mega buck to the media, magazine and etc…. Oscar DeLa Hoya see all of this opportunity, so Dela Hoya made the most interesting match in his carier to challenge Pacquiao that will make a megabuck, but certainly on Pacquiao advantage, and the next is Hatton in Pacquiao advantage also to be sure, the goose that lay a golden egg will keep on producing a golden egg. The last of this victim is Cotto as we all observe. Do you believe that a man who could knock a big guy, could not even shake a small guy even an inch and in the nine round doesn’t know were he is. All of this certainly will not happened without the help of the big guy who really play an important role on this game

  • jhon foreman says:

I don’t believe Superman or Vampire exist, one thing I do believe, things happened and things that you saw and things that was done behind a close door. There’s so many comment but has no courage to investigate what’s behind to all of it. In my observation and base on the data and collection of medical findings, that when you lose weight in a short period of time, the person is weak and no stamina. In Pacquiao case every time he fight, he out-weight he’s opponent, he experience it himself when he was drained, he lose to a Thailander by way of quiting long time ago I see that fight myself in 1995, I was in the Philippines that time.

  • bazooka says:

Great fight Manny but Cotto looked old.
Fight someone who is lively it’s got to be Mayweather or Mosely

  • Kerochan says:

just let Mayweather fight Manny, for chris’sake!

the most logical thing to do is for Manny to KO blabbermouth floyd once and for all and shut him up.

  • alex t says:

Where’s Manuel Perez? I want to slap him in the face.

  • angelo dundee says:

i think he should fight bernard hopkins next

  • Pom says:

Ridiculous and impossible as it may be, some part of my soul would be cheered to see Pac flatten Khan. Put some humility into him.
Prolly be a quick and boring fight, though.

  • steve bunce says:

I loved naz but pac,man would of smashed him in 6 rounds

  • M says:

Has to be Shane or Floyd – anyone else would do bog all for his legacy. Just like Hatton, he’ll only be taking steps up from now and the only two fighters up are Shane and Floyd and everyone knows it. Pointless fighting Cintron and Roach knows he’d loose to Williams. Williams will be pound for pound number one in a year or two anyway when someone decent and not old like Winky finally steps up to the mark to fight him.

  • M says:

No way he’ll fight Williams. Manny’s quick but he couldn’t break the distance with Paul Williams’ work rate.

  • aj says:

In the last 10-15 years, apart from mayweather, the only person i can see giving pac a problem is Naseem in his prime. Now that would be a cracker agreed?

  • Jorge Lugo says:

I am sorry but there’s no way you can say Mayweather has a better chance of beating Pacquiao than Mosley does!

  • nepster says:

Team J&J – Roach and Pacquiao like the easy way out? Did you not know of the catchweight before the fight and predicted that Cotto would crush Pacquaio because he was a better boxer, has more skill, blah blah blah? You’re hysterical…and a sore loser to boot. I asked you what you would say if Pac won BEFORE the fight and you said you would give credit, no excuses…and now….LOL. Just give credit where credit is due…Cotto did.

  • Scourge says:

J&J and Frank, Pac is probably a natural 140 pounder, while Cotto is a natural 147. The way I see it, Pac had to gain five pounds while Cotto had to lose only 2 or 1 since his last fight he weighed in at 146. Losing one or two pounds is easy, I wake up 3 pounds lighter from the previous day. Why can’t people just appreciate a great fighter instead of trying to make excuses. I don’t hear Cotto saying he was weight drained, if he was man enough to admit defeat why can’t everyone else?

  • THE PROFESSOR says:

Joshua Clottey wants a shot at Manny WBO title, So Mr.Bob Whats up with this fight as a MegaPower Matchup for the WBO Title.

  • T-Dub says:

If Manny wants to fight more he better duck Paul Williams. Paul will beat him so bad, Manny would retire right after the fight. Shane Mosley would be a great fight, but Manny would lose but at least he would be able to see another day. Cintron, I really can’t say on that one, haven’t seen him really fight but looks like he has a pretty good record. And as far as Mayweather, Pac and him would be rich off this fight alone, it is which fighter will be willing to take least to make it happen.

  • Frank says:

Team J&J….agreed, which is also why mayweather didnt fight at 145 against JMM. 147 is welter-weight. not this 145 catch weight stuff. I know pacman is small allready, but he shouldnt have trouble gaining 2 more.

  • Team J&J says:

Pacquiao can never beat cotto or mayweather at 147 never, period. Roach and pacquiao like it the easy way and cotto was so stupid to take the fight at 145. at 147 cotto murder pacquiao. Did you guys saw the first round how cotto land on pacquiao and make him miss and dominated him the whole round, Well thats the real cotto but at 147, at 145 he didnt hurt pac so that give confidence to pac to go after cotto. at 147 those punches will hurt pac even the jab will hurt him and would have give the fight a 360 turn around. Mayweather wont make that mistake and if pac go to 147 then you will see him crying for help and if he never go 147 then what that tell you? He is great, But if he is really great enough to beat a welterweight fighter than why not go to 147 and do it. Remember this, Pacquiao is now a welterweight champion but have never fight in a welter-weight(147). So that tell you that he and roach are lookin for easy win and not real fight. fighting cotto at 145 it was a easy win,Now fighting cotto at 147 thats a real fight. But they scared of that.

  • Frank says:

when fighters are up and comming doesnt count (i know it seems like i contradicted myself) but they will call out out any name they can think of since most of them are hungry

  • Frank says:

but I guess ive never heard anybody that is champion call out anybody. They normally have a waiting list

  • Frank says:

    recently,anyway

  • Frank says:

Ive never heard mayweather call out anybody

  • BB says:

anyone who calls out someone is looking for THE PAYCHECK … Manny is humble enough not to call out anyone (he lets the Managers do this) … so you know how Maryweather / Shane are???? thinking they are THE ONE … there is only 1 (PacMan) and everyone is trying to ride on his wagon …

  • Frank says:

Shane calling out mayweather was a joke. I love Sugar shane but he just wants a payday now. He knows he would get beat(not bad) and only wants the paycheck. How do you explain shane ducking mayweather 10 years ago when PPF was was up and comming. Mayweather called out shane and shane said he doesnt want to fight.

  • BB says:

what about Mayweather? nobody is bashing him when Shane called him out FIRST after that Marquez circus …. also his dad? what a work of art .. moves from one paycheck to another then if they lose, he bashes them … talk about loyalty. If Pacman beats Mayweather, will he bash is own son also?? hmmm …. Perez = Santiago (same person = same idea = LOSER)

  • fuego says:

if pacquaio fights paul williams at welterweight pacman would get destroyed in 5 rounds as paul williams is a beast and has great boxing skills and never been down, williams work rate would put pacquiao under pressure and with his big bombs williams would win easy. cintron would lose to pacquiao, moseley is 50/50 and finally mayweather who i think would beat pacquiao but it would not be a one sided fight like williams. i think pacquiao should fight margarito when he returns

  • Frank says:

Margarito did cheat though. You can see the pink plaster on his wraps in the pictures. Pacman is just a beast. And taking a first loss the way cotto did ( cheating or not) can definitely change a fighter. I dont think cotto will ever be the same fighter

  • flummex says:

Williams beats Pac at 147. Cintron would be tough he is fast and punches like a mule, but Pac would win. Mayweather I think he wins on points with a hit an dodge display

  • Joe says:

The pathetic and ignorant writer Manuel Perez deserves to get burned immediately.

  • willymacmoore says:

After Pacquiao destroyed Cotto like that i think Margarito didn’t cheat against Cotto.

  • Frank says:

I think pacman should fight the winner of the berto-mosley fight. I think berto will be the victor agaisnt mosley and a pacman-berto fight, IMO, could be a GREAT fight. Berto is a very talented, undefeated fighter. He has good speed and power and I would love to see this fight happen.

  • miguel cotto says:

MP proved himself, he can retire in boxing now. It is also, true that a fight with PBF or Mosley will add something more value to MP. Mosley fight could be more damaging physically if MP is on the receiving end. If PBF won against MP, it could be less damaging because PBF will not risk against MP blistering combos. So PBF will just secure to win rounds. So between the two, I will pick PBF fight for MP. To measure the MP greatness with a win against Mosley vs a win agains PBF is irrelevant in my opinion.

  • Dan says:

As much as I want to see Mayweather/Pacquiao, I would prefer that both fighters settle some unfinished business first. Mayweather/Mosley and Pacquiao/Marquez III should occur in the first half of 2010 and then, Mayweather and Pacquiao can get down to business at the end of the year. A lot of people think that Mosley can beat Mayweather, but I think PBF handles Shane without any problems. At 140-147, Pacquiao destroys Marquez. If Mayweather/Pacquiao is a close fight, they can then have a rematch (perhaps even a trilogy). They could then both retire with more money than they know what to do with.

  • Anonymous says:

“Oh by the way, have you guys seen the latest post of the infamous ones here? So sure they was before the fight but now backing down on their words and now finding themselves making excuses. Really pathetic. One of them even said What will Pacquiao’s excuses will be when he lose the fight? Now he’s the one making excuses. They deserve to get burned.”

    very well said!

  • >>>>>>JDT says:

Honestly a fight with Mosley Williams or Cintron would be great.. But lets be honest Floyd Mayweather loves money and the real reason he came back is because Manny Pacquaio is big enough to where he will make tons of it… So everyone is saying they doubt it will happen is b/s themselves because they know mayweather has a enormous ego because this fight will decide who is the best of this era and he loves money..

  • Handbags McAllister says:

Gotta go for a Hatton rematch and then fight Mayweather at the end of the 2010 and retire
