Should Miguel Cotto fight Antonio Margarito again?

I was ringside at the Cotto/Margarito fight, and can tell you that Cotto was hurting very early in the fight. I believe that about in the Fifth Round you could see his face starting to swell because he was being hit too much. Don’t get me wrong,but he had the same opportunity of hitting Margarito. I personally know Margarito, as well as his promotor (Diaz) and trainer (Capi), and I have never seen anything illegal. I was not in his dressing room that night, but have been in other of his fights, and can say that I have always seen someone from the State Boxing Commission there while his trainer was wrapping his hands. Cotto had the same opportunity of hitting Margarito but didn’t. Everybody who saw the fight knows that Cotto’s corner jumped stepped into the ring, and that is why the fight was stopped, because it’s illegal for them to do that. “Margarito won by TKO 2:05 of the 11th round – Cotto’s corner steps on apron to have bout stopped,” that’s what was written on the Official Score Card by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Judge’s: Humada 94-96, Moretti 95-95, Roth 94-96, all for Margarito. Everything else is speculation. I was in ringside and that is what I saw. Cotto lost.

I think if Cotto and Mr ciment gloves will fight again Cotto will beat him. It will be another strategy and Cotto has learned the lesson. He will go to the body first like Mosley did when he destroyed Margarito in the 9th. And i think Margarito will not be the same after that terible beating he took from Mosley. I remember that Cotto outbox Margarito in the first 8-9 rounds of their fight so…

TOTALLY AGREE. IF COTTO DO OR DONT IT WONT CHANGE HOW WE LOOK AT HIM BECAUSE MARGARITO ULTIMATELY LOST BY CHEATING AND IT TOOK HIM 11ROUNDS TO PUT HIM AWAY SO THAT SHOULD SAY SOMETHING ABOUT COTTO HEART. BUT IF COTTO DO AND KNOCKS HIM OUT HIS LEGENDARY STATUS IS SOLIDIFIED!

u can all say what u like about antonio margarito but it looks to me that hardman and wud fight anyone at any time cotto is definitaly avoiding a rematch with the man who beat him so bad.

Margarito should receive a lifetime ban without question. You only had to look at his face just before the Moseley fight began to know – he looked worried from the moment he stepped in the ring because he knew he no longer had the advantage. Its disrespectful to fighters like Gerald Mclellan and Michael Watson to allow anyone who knowingly fights with loaded gloves. If Miguel had died in the ring and his gloves had been found to have been loaded he would be facing a lot more than a lifetime ban and anyone who’s seen that fight knows that sort of tragedy could well have happened if the fight had gone on. Ban him forever – if he had any respect for the sport he’d never fight again.

i agree with most of u guy;s here.Went a fighter goes to a ring with that mentality of cheating and try to hurt some one for life like he did on Cotto fight and mosley.We dont even know how long this guy is been doing this really,I agree should be ban for lived.But u know what they should fight so Cotto can proved what happen in the fight is b/c those wraps and then they shold take that defeat away from him.

If Margarito agreed to a 75/25 split, then Cotto should consider the fight. That would add up to a whole lot of chedder and I don’t think Cotto would turn that down. It is ironic that although Cotto lost to Margarito, Cotto now controls the direction Margarito’s career takes. Something he should take full advantage of should they negotiate a rematch.

Margarito disrespected the whole Boxing Organization for the whole wraps incident. He should be banned from boxing permanantly. margo doesnt deserve a rematch

The way I see it is that Margarito attempted to cheat in the Mosley (any fight prior to that we will never know) and therefor should receive a lifetime ban on any title fight, as should any boxer guilty of cheating (yes! including Mosley with his performance enhancement drugs).

A Cotto-Margarito rematch should only happen if Cotto wants to avenge his only defeat and he should be entitled to at least 60% of the money.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible to remove Cotto’s loss from his record.

All this being said, I would still want to watch this rematch as the first fight was quite entertaining (until it got a bit painful to watch in the 11th) however i would predict Cotto clinching a win

it would be a dissrespect to margarito if cotto werent to rematch.
