Santiago’s fight predictions – Khan, Pacquiao, Prescott and more!

khan563455669By Liam Santiago: I am proud to say that in the last four years, I have only ever made a wrong prediction for a boxing bout once and that was the Hatton/Pac Man bout, which Hatton should have pulled out of. So, when it comes to betting advice on bouts, Santiago is the word. If you remember correctly, I predicted Haye to beat Valuev on points, Alexander to stop Witter and Prescott to spark Khan early on. Here I go again.

Khan vs Salita – I will start with the easy one. Khan on points. Salita poses no threat. No threat whatsoever. Salita does not even have the power to wobble Khan and that is saying something. However, do not expect Khan to try and put on a fine display of explosive action. Expect him to jab his way to a points win, then vacate his title and fight Morales or someone similar. However, remember Khan still fights like an amateur. Against Kotelnik at times he looked like he was about to trip over his own feet!

Pacquiao vs Cotto – Cotto by late stoppage. We all know how I feel about this one. I do not give the little Filipino a chance. If you ask anyone what makes Pac Man the better fighter, they will all say ‘speed’. Mosley brought ridiculously fast speed to Cotto but the Puerto Rican warrior fought a style that prevented his speed from doing anything. Cotto neutralised Mosley’s speed and is was neither use nor ornament. Speed is nothing against a guy like Cotto because he will not let you use it. He also has the power to stop Pacquaio. Remember the Hatton/Pacquiao fight? Remember when Hatton caught Pacquiao with a left hook and he went flying across the ring? Pacquiao is easy to hit and has not got a great chin.

Breidis Prescott vs Kevin Mitchell – Tough one to call. Prescott has recently been exposed by Vasquez and beaten on points but his power will always be there. Let’s face it, Khan was beaten by a very average fighter in Prescott. I sense some fairly harsh matchmaking on Prescott’s behalf as he has two fights arranged in the week before this bout, one in Russia and one in Columbia. If my thinking is correct he is promoted by Frank Warren. To fight three bouts in a couple of weeks is asking a lot. However, I am going to stick with my hero Prescott. Prescott by knockout.

Haye vs Klitschko – Haye by stoppage, whether it is against Wlad or Vitali. However, Haye needs to ditch the tactics he used against Valuev. They worked against him because he was a slow big beast, but he needs to fight the Klitschko’s. Vitali’s body is shot to pieces. He had to pull out of two comeback’s prior to his recent one because of injury. His body can not stand a war and that is what Haye has to give him. For Wladimar he must do the same, hit him on the chin and he will knock him out.

Froch vs Kessler – Froch by knockout. Kessler is over rated. Very over rated! Is biggest achievement is a defeat to Joe Calzaghe. He will be a much easier opponent for Froch than Dirrell was. Kessler fights in straight lines and is pretty slow. Froch will stop him.

Any questions, comments or the usual abuse, please post below and I will get back to you.

hahahaha Santiago is the word? dude how old are you? are you still on the learning stage?

  • liam the nutmole says:

I just read another one of your articles where you agree with mayweather snr about pacman not being a good fighter. He didnt beat de la hoya, hatton, AND cotto with smoke and mirrors. Pac man is a great boxer. I’ve never seen cotto get whooped like that. Not even joshua clottey could do what manny did. You are really an idiot. You are only an expert on stupidity and smacktalking, you should join the mayweather camp

  • Travelmpq says:

Well, are you ready to eat crow? You’re never wron? Some prediction. And you actually based it on the “fact” that Hatton hurt Pacquiao? What fight were you watching? Didn’t Pacquiao put Hatton in the hospital after just two rounds? What’s your excuse for Manny leaving Cotto a bloody pulp? Some expert!

  • Kutto says:

He said he’ll stop writing when pacman wins. so you will not hear anything from him anymore. Sorry dude i cost you your career! Let’s have some pinchos and help me sell it ayt!

  • wilszenitram says:

SO WHAT’S UP NOW LIAM SANTIAGO?HOW’S YOUR PREDICTION?….. C’MON WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT THE PACQUIAO COTTO FIGHT!!!WTF!!!

  • yo says:

    santiago, you’re an idiot.

  • Bob says:

Haha Cotto got caught by pacman speed. Cotto didnt even see the punches that knock him out twice.

  • Aries says:

    Liam Santiago <<<— IDIOT

  • Makaveli8 says:

Only ever made 1 wrong prediction eh?
Your Pacquiao predction was completely wrong
So thats only 2 you’ve ever got wrong then

  • Chopper says:

Guess you got one terribly wrong now, just like every other doubter you couldnt get it into your head that manny pacquiao is the BEST!!! lol
But on a serious note hatton didnt hurt pacquiao in there fight, these things are put out there so the other fighter isnt downplayed. Also the comment about Mosley’s hand speed, the fight between cotto-mosley he didnt have much of a speed factor in the fight and there is very big difference from Pacquiao hand speed compared to Mosleys hand speed. I would like to say that cotto did fight great and showed alot of heart.

Kesslar is possilbe the best super-middleweight out there so he’ll will destroy Froch. Kesslar win by KO.

Also Haye will beat one of the klitschko brothers by KO, which ever one he fights 1st.

  • brit boxing says:

ha ha thats 1 out of 1 wrong

  • brand says:

LIAM SANTIAGO, DID YOU SEE THE PACQUIAO VS COTTO FIGHT?

  • zee zee says:

pacman to TKO cotto – period

    David to KO wladamir.K

    Vitali.K to TKO david

vitali has the greatest chin in current boxng other than freak of nature david tua. the dude took lennox lewis’s nuclear bombs and still was standing.

enough said, vitali is 80% the white lennox lewis.

  • dkelly says:

hahaha vitali would murder haye wlad too probably

  • thebazman says:

I like ur articles preety much all of the time give sum tips to scott gillfoid and manuel perez would rather they gave a good article instead of pointless ones will b puttin money on cotto for tomorrow night hopefully ur predictions wont b wrong

  • Eman says:

If MP comes out not smiling cotto is in big trouble….

  • douche says:

I don’t remember the part where “Hatton caught Manny with a left hook and he went flying across the ring” but I sure can remember Hatton sprawled across the Rockstar logo with his boxing career flashing before his eyes.

  • hasbeen says:

LS-You are yet another one of the self proclaimed boxing experts that submits articles to this site. It is a shame that you, SG and MP have decided to make this site your home. Some of the people that submit articles to this site try their best to write a good article about the sport of boxing, sadly the same cannot be said about you three people.

  • Chas says:

Pacquiao bit more than can chew this time.
To bad for you Pac fans!!! You need to become boxing fans not Pac Fans. I like the Pac man but against a multi-dimentional power puncher like Cotto…and natural welter weight, forget it!!! KO in the 8th for son of Miguel Sr. which will become pacman’s daddy on the 14th.

  • kinjo73 says:

santiago did they edit the hatton and pacman fight?i did not remember flying across the ring when hatton hit him with a left hook?what are you talking about?wake up boy!!!! are dreaming?wake up!!! don’t go to the light!!!!wake up!!!!

  • Tom C says:

    Khan on pts.
I also agree he’ll vacate his title rather than fighting a hard hitting Maidana, and fight Morales (RETIRED FEATHERWEIGHT) then we’ll here how good Khan is by beating a boxing legend.

    Cotto by ko.
Could go either way but doubt its goin the distance, both great fighters.

    Prescott by ko.
Prescott trying to prove Khan wasn’t a fluke.

    Klitschko by ko.
If its Vitali i’d give Haye no chance Wlad is 50/50.

    Kessler on pts.
Froch has been lucky enough in recent fights, think this is where his luck ends.

  • james mc says:

also you say cotto delt with mosleys speed,i thot cotto faught a horribel fight in that and that the judges totaly robbed mosley,i also fink cotto strugles against speed fighter.mosley-i thought mosley clearly win.judah-had cotto hurt in a number of ocasions in the 1st half of the fight.malignagie-baring the 2nd round knockdown i would have scored the fight a draw,so what makes you fink cotto will deal with pacs speed so easily?i personaly cant decide on this 1,i fink its a 50/50 fight, cotto has the power ta ko pac but pac also has the speed and power to badly troubel cotto,my only prediction is the fight to end by ko.

  • james mc says:

reply to liam santiago-i know alot of peopel on this site dont like you because of your khan bashing and your love for hatton.but i do fink you have quite a decant knowledge of boxing as i ve see on your other post other posters quizing ur knowledge of boxing and u always come u with the correct answer.i m british and a fan of most of the above fighter, but what i want to know is do you fink khan will ever fight a puncher?i dont.i also dont see any way froch can beat kessler,i m a froch fan but in his last 2 fights knockdown by taylor and toyd with by direll a realy cant see any way of him beating kessler, your thots?then haye vs the klitsckso.out al the above british fighter a like haye best,i also see him scoren a ko over wlad, but a fink vitali is a total match made in hell,he has gr8 boxing skills and probs the best chin p4p in boxing, hayes best chance of beating a klitschko is by ko,and i cnt see any way of that against vitali, your thots please?

  • luke says:

i think cott will win with a suprise ko iun the forth round

  • ali says:

    haye will get ko’d

  • Mr T says:

i think pac man will tak eit in round 10! he is to fast and his fittness will tell late on…

  • Jake318 says:

Haye although entertaining is overrated , klitchko by KO.( haye is OPEN for Strait right)
Cotto late round ko over Pac ( pac is a better fighter all around but too small, Cotto walks through him )
Kessler over froch KO. (Froch has Balls but doesnt have a prayer ).

  • m ali says:

my winners are: khan… pac man… mitchell…. haye win against wlad lose against vitali… kessler.
cant wait to see kevin mitchell fight prescott. think mitchells got the lot, including a solid chin so i can see him winning that one. not sure why you see haye beating the man mountain vitali tho. that mans got no weakness. but wlad has a suspect chin so maybe a KO on the cards.

  • Fehr says:

“Pacquiao is easy to hit and has not got a great chin.”????
    I think Morales.Barrera.Marquez,De La Hoya,Hatton…etc…Would disagree with you!!! Je..Je..Je.

  • n.ovesen says:

I agree on most things except the Kessler Froch prediction.

I think that Kessler/Froch will be very similar to Kessler/Andrade.

  • Anonymous says:

Cotto’s face will be a mess after 3 rounds. That will be the beginning of the end for Cotto and your writing career.

  • Sean chicago says:

I’m so glad this guys is not going to write anymore articles after Manny beats Cotto

  • Orlis Waxwood says:

Whether I agree or not, such articles are enjoyable and fun. Well done!

  • RK says:

Wrong prediction again like the pacquiao-hatton fight. These writer is a pacman hater. do not compare pac with mosley because they are completely different fighter. “Remember when Hatton caught Pacquiao with a left hook and he went flying across the ring?” This writer lost his money on these fight thats why he cannot forget what happened to hatton. HAHAHA!
“Pacquiao is easy to hit and has not got a great chin.” or should I say “COTTO is easy to hit and has not got a great chin.”

  • dhjddjd says:

Liam PLEASE HONOR YOUR WORD. I have NOT forgotten that article you wrote swearing that you will never write again if Pacquiao defeats Cotto.

  • padre says:

Dont forget your promise Liam. You will quit if Pac wins.

  • james says:

its going to be a one punch knock out by pacman, cotto will be taken out in the strechter.

  • vrodz says:

I agree on Cotto/Pacquiao and Froch/Kessler; especially on the point that Kessler is overrated. But I think Salita could make the fight interesting, hayes has no buisisness with either of the Klistcho brothers and mitchell has a very good chance with an overhyped over one fight phenom in Prescott.

  • pugile italiano says:

i agree with you with everything EXCEPT pacquiao/cotto…now that fight to me is a 50/50 fight…wow,it must have riled you when pacquiao almost put hatton in coma.so will you join perez for a beer in a cheap, dark and forlorn bar drinking away you’re hate for pacquiao?…make no mistake,i like BOTH fighters…but pacquiao impressed me more.he’s the most exciting fighter around.so to me,like most true fans and ex boxers, this is a 50/50 fight.it could go either way…but anyway it goes,it will be the fans who will be the winners,ok?ciao…

  • Joey says:

i think pacman will win by a surprise KO, cotto is strong but slow.

  • wanderer says:

I think Pacquiao will win by stoppage on the 10th round or decision ont he 12th, only if he can take the punch of Cotto.

Early rounds would be a test for both fighters, sizing up and feeling each other’s power.

There’s no way Pacquiao would run away from Cotto or any fighter. The more he is hit, the more he charges. This is something that Cotto should capitalize on.

If Pacquiao can take Cotto’s power, you’ll surely see him toying with Cotto and may even see a knockdown in the earlier rounds. Even if he can’t knockdown Cotto because of his size, he’ll win by points because he’s the busier puncher.

For Cotto to win, he needs to knock-out a sly Pacquaio. There’s no way Cotto would win a decision.

  • No1JimmyWilde says:

    khan to stop salita
haye to beat wlad by ko
haye to beat vitali by split decision
mitchell to beat prescott by u d
paqman to beat cotto by split decision
kesser to beat froch for definite

  • The Truth says:

“Remember when Hatton caught pacquiuo with a left hook and he went flying across the ring?” I also recall Pacman banging his gloves together and proceding to give Hatton the beating of his life!!!

  • atiqur says:

I like it. I think you are spot on with it all

  • M says:

Bang on – agree with pretty much all of that. Agree with the last comment – Haye waiting for Vitali to get a little older as he can’t have long left at the level he’s at. Same with Mayweather Moseley – PB’s waiting for Shane to add a couple of years then he’ll be that much easier to beat, a little slower.

  • AnthonyW says:

Froch will not stop Kessler, thats all I have to say.

  • Joe Neale says:

Agree with all accept Prescott think Mitchell will outbox him

  • Gutsy Kid says:

I agree on everything except your last two, which I’m not so sure about. I’d love Haye to beat either Klitschko, and am a Froch fan myself despite knowing his limitations – but the opposition these two Brits are facing are proven, and dangerous. Even in old age and injury ridden bodies.

  • stephen a says:

khan, froch and haye to win alright. the rest is dribble

  • a very good article….
i disagree with cotto vs pac… i say pacman would win thru stoppage..i can bet to $20 on it..
    deal??
check out richard towers.the new british heavywieght hop in the making…

  • je says:

very intresting. altough Froch is a bum, i say kessler.

  • kam says:

Liam you really are a p ussy ho1e

  • Dewi Powell says:

Santaigo i disagree with the Prescott fight but other than that a good balanced article. Can you please give some tips to Gilfoid of how to change his articles around?

  • Team J&J says:

    Agree with you on everything.
