By Liam Santiago: Dmitry Salita wants to follow in the footsteps of Breidis Prescott by knocking Amir Khan out when they meet in Newcastle on December 5th. There is a huge blue print on how to knock Khan down as it has been done on more than a couple of occasions. Is Salita a power puncher? No. Can Salita knock out Khan? Yes. If Khan runs away like we expect, then expect a points win for Khan. If he stands and fights, expect a KO win for Salita.

Khan has been floored three times in his career, with Willie Limond and Michael Gomez also sending him to the canvass before his defeat to Prescott last year, the first defeat of his pro career.
The Khan camp could not have picked a lighter hitting opponent, but you do not need to be hard hitting to knock out Amir Khan.

Al Francis- im not putting you in the santiago bracket mate dont worry. Good points you made but even tho i hate to defend hatton, at least maussa had a belt and had earned it by KO’ing a respected top 7 guy. Khan WILL beat salita and he will look okay doing it..but lets not kid ourselves that maidana or anyone else of note will be next because they wont. Khan is hiding and will continue to hide for as long as he can.

forgot about scott harrison! Salita IS a better first defence than 90% of british fighters in the modern era, lewis first defence was tucker i think, and carl froch with taylor, hatton with carlos maussa, thats the only 3 that could possibly rank higher, and im being VERY generous with maussa!

Come on Al francis, iv read a few of your opinions before and they are dodgy at best. Uk is staunch hatton but at least he thinks before he writes. If you DO think salita is a viable first defence then you dont know boxing. Its same old amir khan fighting hopeless opponants and salita IS hopeless, he isnt even a real top 15 light welterweight (forget WBA rankings). Even the Americans dont know this guy, its just another kotelnik only worse, thats why they are already looking past him.
