Roach wants Mayweather…but only if the price is right

By Shaun Campbell: Saturday night Manny Pacquiao sensationally stopped a true welterweight champion in his prime. Miguel Cotto was taken to hospital after he lost his World Boxing Organization title to the “Pacman.”
It’s also thought that Mayweather would want 65% of the PPV sales and ticket income. Roach has said “he won’t be getting that”. Why is Mayweather entitled to so much more money than Pacquiao, who is now thought to be the true pound for pound king?
Depending on what team Pacquiao say, it could be seen that Mayweather is “ducking” Manny. He is now the WBO welterweight champion, so Mayweather hasn’t got as much bargaining tools as he may think. The likely outcome is that the fight will happen sometime early in 2010 (if Mayweather decides he doesn’t need a tune-up fight). Mayweather claims he’s still pound for pound king, but to end any controversy there’s one man he still needs to beat to be recognized universally as the top man. This is his own views, as he said after the Marquez fight. He said there are still some fighters left he needs to defeat before he hangs up his gloves for good.
The Pacquiao camp seem confident of a showdown with Mayweather if Bob Arum can make it happen. Pacquiao is just concentrating on fighting…and singing. About an hour after the fight he headed across the strip to sing as a guest in a concert. Pacquiao has done his part to make the fight happen, Mayweather now has to live up to his end of the deal. Roach believes any other fight for Mayweather or Pacquiao would leave fight fans around the world disappointed. The world awaits one more time for a mega bout involving Floyd Mayweather. This time, probably smashing the PPV sales of De La Hoya/Mayweather. One more time Mayweather has to make a decision whether he has the heart and desire left to fight to cement his place in boxing history as one of the greatest of all time.

Since PBF and his team is so highly confident he is da best and will remain unbeatable, if i were PacMan’s negotiator (Arum/Roach) i would offer a WINNER TAKE ALL deal, so PBF just has has to show up to collect all of da winnings unless he is afraid or unsure of something going wrong in da fight….what person would refuse dis guarantee…i truly believe dat dis would truly weed out who is da true warrior and who is in it for da money only…guess which one of dem would accept is offer?
Yes i agree Floyd/Manny is a Huge big fight, and if Mayweather asking for that much money he is undefeated and does not want to lose his title. Manny definitely deserves the Lion share of the money in all aspects. Manny is a TRUE fighter, a People’s Champion World Wide. Witnessing Manny destroy Cotto last night confirmed that he is The TRUE Fighter of this era. He deserves it all-P4P King Status, More of the cut of money, etc.. It’s funny how Mayweather came back and tried to fool us with Beating Marquez to reclaim his status as the top dog(Who Manny already beat twice). It looks as if Manny’s name is the front runner and Mayweather is left behind in the dust. In all Honesty, I really believe Manny will give Floyd his first defeat.

The only reason the fight will not occur is because Floyd Mayweather knows he’ll fight a quality fighter and, likely as not, will be beaten. His lament will be money. He’ll ask for more than he knows he could get and then point the finger and thump his chest, or perhaps Roger’s empty head. Standup the man is not. In fact, compared to Manny, the man is simply a crude, empty vessel, with little redeeming quality.
Its about time we witness just who is the best trainer of all time, between Freddie Roach and “Uncle Roger”. the boxing world awaits!!!
Money mayweather will have his face re-arranged by pacquiao. The only option for him is not to take the fight!!!!!
it would be an amazing fight. the best defencsive against the best attacking boxer in the world. it would be hard to call a winner. mayweather would struggle to lean and roll from mannys shots but you could see mayweather countering and landing on manny. id pick pacquiao on points if i had to, but you could also see a flash ko from mayweather.
Cotto hasn’t been the same fighter since the margarito fight. Its sad to see someone do that to someone. If manny would of fought the older cotto manny would of not had a chance i don’t care what anyone says. Manny Is not a great fighter his just anothe mayweather that knows how to pick his fights. fighting a beat down miguel cotto is not very copetitive. First a burnt out oscar then a c average hatton and now a mental and physical hurt cotto due to a cheater margarito. It will take alot to make this fight happen not because mayweather and pacquiao but because of one man…Bob Arum. The only reason that the cotto/pacquiao fight was made is so that he could get checks off both fighters purses. Let be honest, leading up to the fight what did cotto do to earn a mega fight. He lost to Marigarito, beat a subpar fighter for the title, and look horrible against Clottey(in many fans minds lost). To the fans, boxing is about money fights happen because the men behind the scenes benefit from it not cause the fans want it to happen. Well maywheather is not behind paquiao.
Floyd is undefeated while manny is not.
So, if manny takes more than half of the pie, is unfair to me. Also, i think money maywhether has something manny paquiao dosn´t, A GREAT PRESONALITY, he is funny to watch and has been the only guy who makes the borring 24/7 show of HBO worth of watching it.
I think floyd will take on manny if ever happend, and I think it will.
The only way to have this fight between Mayweather and manny, is to split the purse 60/40, winner gets 60 %. Ok mayweather now you want your 60%, come out and prove you are worth it. Dont hide behind the money curtain.

I think a 40/40 split, winner picks up the other 20% is a fair deal this fight NEEDS to be made.

The fight likely will go down eventually for money reasons. Pac’s the man, but I hate to say that I would pick Mayweather for this one due to his style. Either way, Pacquiao has the legitimate claim to the bigger stake, and a 60-40 would be the most he should expect to give Mayweather for the fight.

i have big doubts, he will ask for too much of the pie. he has no grounds for more than pacman. manny has many many more fans and people only watch floyd as they are desperate for him too get banged out. i wish this fight happens it needs too, the master of defense vs attack. winner takes his place in the highest teer of alltime greats. if he doesn’t settle for a fair split then his legacy will always be questioned.
Did PACMAN prove his place in boxing? Does he deserve to be the No#1 Pound for Pound? Is he a really complete fighter like HBO commentator said he is? OR did he really beat the real Cotto, Dela Hoya and Hatton?

This really is the only fight both parties should be thinking of right now.
To be fair either 50/50 or 55/45 split in Pacquiao’s favour should be right but this is the big thing.
Mayweather still believes he is the true P4P king and should Pacquiao drop to 50/50 you can almost guarantee Mayweather will demand 51% or refuse the fight.
This is typical of Mayweather and can use money as a reason to duck fighters such as saying Mossley is not a big enough draw so the money wouldn’t add up.
This cannot be an excuse when it comes to Pacquiao as the money to be made here will sort both parties out for life you can guarantee that!
