Prediction: Pacquiao vs. Cotto
By Jamie Hooper: Having studied the form of both fighters and watched the build up carefully, I am now ready to stick my head on the line that my fight prediction. I think out of the two, Cotto has had the most focused camp and as such is probably as well prepared as he possibly can be. Manny’s had a more turbulent first half of his boxing training. His camp does annoying me. To many people in it with a high degree of self importance and ego. That said however Manny’s training does seam to have turned out okay. He looks fit and sharp as ever.
The early round I think will be very hard for Cotto. I see him struggling with the early tight defense and sharp hard punches coming from Manny.
From what I have said so far it may sound like I am predicting a one sided fight. But that is far from the truth. I still believe Manny has not had to face the power of a proper welter weight. Hatton and Delahoya don’t count in my opinion. Cotto may seam damaged to some boxing experts, but this for me is where he will derive most of his motivational energy from. When Cotto lands heavily on Manny I don’t see him letting Manny of the hook. I am very interested to see how Manny response to some real power shots from a live welter weight.
As with all fights I can see it going a few different ways. But my feelings are a stoppage win for Manny in the 10th round. I think Cotto will get overwhelmed by Manny’s constant attacks. I could well be wrong and feel free to leave a string off “ you know *@&$ all about boxing “ type comments after the event.
Boxing needs to have well matched exciting, hard to predict fights. I hope both fighters bring everything to the ring on Saturday Night. We could all use a classic to end 2009.

this is the best prediction. you have excellent boxing analysis.
Paquiao will start agressivley in the first 3 rounds probably 4th by then Cotto will have well analyzed pacquiao and win paquiao around the 10th round by KO oh yeah do not doubt that he has lost is faith..Margarito never won that fight and everyone knows that by now, he had to strap his fist to get some advantage and even then cotto still fought. Paquiao get ready for the wippen of your life…
Hi everybody, I predicted this lond time ago, and I still haven’t change it. Pacman will win the first few rounds, lets say the first 3 rounds. That will be the time Cotto will spend to study what Pac brings to the table, and then, Cotto will start hurting Pacman.
Cotto by KO round 10.
Haven’t seen much of Cotto but I just can’t see Pacman losing. He’s the model professional and just too fast. I think only Mayweather could trouble Pacquaio. Will be an exciting fight, but TKO to Pacquaio in the 8th.
I watch all of Cotto and Pacman fight. In my view and knowledge about Cotto is an olympian. Cotto used his job if his opponent keep on running, hes hard to hit.Cotto has longer arm than Pacman.Remember that the great Flash Elorde loose to a puertorican, One of Roach best fighter loose to a puerto rican in a six round. Now her comes Pacman. Did u remember when Pacman loose last time no body greet him in manila airport, Do this thing will going to happened again to his loyal fans who dont show up in manila airport when he loose. In my view Cotto was never dominated in the first round. In my view this is the most terible lost of Pacman could imagine it will gonna be a nightmare to all pilipino. To Pacman its like the stars fall on him.
Cotto to win 7th round TKO. Manny’s so overrated.
Roach goal is to make his fighter achieve six belt in different division ,and know that he’s fighter achieve his goal, he want to be in history and this is he’s final masterpiece to achieve a seven belt in different division, that will shoot him to stardom. Now Roach are doing everything to have a better advantage with Cotto. After Pacman win , he’s ready to retired and he has so many excuse to do so. First he could declare I have nothing to prove, Second I will run for government office. This is a quick and unique way to be a great man with-out loosing Pacman and Roach credibility, it’s like stealing candy to a little kids.
How did Pacman gain so much weight in Pacman vs Marquez fight in a matter of very short day. It could boost your stamina with- out using steroids but it is also dangerous to Human health.
In boxing rule once a fighter win the title, he has nine months to defend this title, but Roach know by defending a title or unifying it, will not make you great. Instead of defending it, and the possibility that Pacman will lose, so he jump to a higher weight by carefully picking the right opponent considering height, reach and adding more weight to Pacman that will boost his fighter stamina for high percentage of winning
Do Pacman is more heavier than Hatton that night, If he was I guest Roach discovered a technique to gain advantage with the other fighters with-out using steroids, by gaining more weight than your opponent and retaining speed = more fire power. In Pacquiao vs Cotto as u have examine, Cotto has all the advantage, one reason Roach are worried, except the fight of that night we will see if Pacman has a weight advantage again.
Roach worried about that Cotto will exceed 147lbs on the night fight, did any one ask Roach why his boy Pacman always heavier with his opponent on the night fight
Do Pacman add more weight than Marques to boast his stamina over Marquez. With Pacman Long reach advantage and adding extra weight, does this give Pacman advantages. Why? Do Pacman put so much weight than the other fighter on the night of the fight. The night of the fight Hatton vs Pacman their weight are not posted

Cotto loses steam after 5 or 6 rounds and gets popped flush on his chin with a short, hard upper cut coming from nowhere and catches another hook and then cross… he snores after that in 9.
Who made you the proof.
In most recent fights manny only knock out hatton and took him 2rd to do it. he stop delahoya but no knock out. he,s not a one punch knock out fighter. 1st rd knock out let get real that is so far fetch. dont bet your money on it………….
Jamie Hooper:
I agree with you in almost everything, the only thing I doubt is what you says about “Cotto will get overwhelmed by Manny’s constant attacks”.
On this fight we have real facts and other things like myth or legends.
First myth: Cotto is to slow: Maybe he is not fast as Manny but he is.
Fact: Cotto know how use his hands, his a master counter puncher.
Second myth: Think Cotto will get overwhelmed by Manny’s constant attacks for 12 rounds.
Fact: Manny will be fast, very fast the first half of the fight, but on the second half it’s gone be another story and you know what, Cotto is gone be in front of him throwing hard punches.
Third Myth: Manny’s movements will prevent or elude Cotto’s hard punches or combos.
Fact: It’s a LOOOOOG night for Manny and he can run but he can’t hide. Cotto is gone hit him more harder that his entire life in boxing.
Cotto by KO.
Pacquiao can not take those punches that cotto throws to margarito but what i can tell you is that Pacquiao hits way harder than anyone right now (incluind margarito)
I could see the fight turning out in a couple diffrent ways.cotto may come dehydrated like delahoya and not perform well or pacman may pressure cotto like margarito did but the only problem i see is that magarito was not able to knock out cotto like freddie roach predicted and on the way in margarito took alot of punches. can manny put pressure plus beating that magarito did and can he take beating like margarito did. this is the way i see it. let here from a diffrent angle
I agree with you that Pacquiao could win by late stoppage. But, as you said this fight could either way. I think Cotto is really up for this, and I believe if he catches Pacquiao flush it could be the beginning of the end. We all know that when Pacquiao gets caught he likes to retaliate and hit his opponent straight back. However, this could be a big mistake. He is going to be taking punches from a full blown welterweight tommorrow night, they may not initially hurt him, but over time they are all going to add up and have a huge toll on him.
I have an aonline bet between 7 to 10.
I am still contemplating on betting on round 1.
I agree this is a very good fight.
Pacquiao will probably knock down cotto in round 1 and TKO him between 7 to 10.
This will be liked Pacquiao vs De La Hoya style of fights. Cotto will not do Hatton style because he knows what happen to Hatton. He will mimic De La Hoya style.
