Pacquiao-Mayweather: It’s down to Manny and Floyd to get the money right

By Peter Wells: We already know everyone wants this fight, but it’s up to Pacquiao and Mayweather to sort out the money problem. That is the only thing that can stop this fight from happening, and if Manny decides to retire. I know for sure Mayweather won’t pull out of this fight, he’s already started the small talk about fighting Pacquiao, and he does want to be the number 1 again; what else would he come back for.
This is a fight that would get the whole world on the edge of their seats, it would be the biggest sporting event of the year nothing could compare, it would be the richest fight in history, the tickets will be gone in days, and it makes you excited just thinking about it. The money is a huge worry, and let’s hope they will be able to settle with 50-50 and maybe 60-40 or 55-45 to the winner. Both fighters are the best of their generation and both deserve equal cash, and we can find out who is the best fighter of this generation.
Theirs no point making stupid predictions too early, plus it isn’t even arranged and don’t expect any negotiations for a month or two. Let’s hope this fight will happen, it will be one of the greatest fights ever, the whole world will be watching.

Mayweather is playing poker with Pac…I mean he has to because that will be his last fight with everything intact..Once this is done everything will be in shambles and his prize money demand will diminish a lot once he will lose..he cannot brag of being undefeated so he should get most of the money because there so many more undefeated fighters around who might be demanding the same..it is ridiculous to base the prize money per ones boxing record..I think it is fair enough for them to go 50-50..
Or maybe a fight with Cedric but to be honest, I reckon boxing fans want to see the fight with George and I believe it’ll happen. Will break all PPV records too!!

Pac-Yuri won’t sell because that rabbi doesn’t stand a chance. Besides, Pac has weight limit. He can’t pack more weight above 145lb.

Money mayweather should be ready to enjoy his last payday before he loses his undefeated record to pacman. My advise to floyd is “Dont take the fight”
It should be a title fight at Floyd’s unoccupied WBC light middleweight division he won at Oscar.
Both men should be at 154lb limit. Last time, Floyd weight in at 150lb. Pac came with Cotto at 150lb. So there – 154 lb jr.middleweight championship.
Split. 40% each …20% for the winner. That’s fair and no squabbling.

What the hell are you smoking? 145 is within the Welterweight Division. Both fighters agreed to fight at the catch weight so the title win is legitimate.
How about 65% to the winner and 35% to the loser. I thinks it is a fair deal.and may the best man win.
Cotto didn’t even win the WBO title at 147. He beat jennings at 146 then Clottey at 146 so 145 should be no problem for a true WW. Cotto didn’t make any excuses so all you fake, bandwagon, pacquiao haters should stop crying and give credit to Pacquiao.

Maywather needs to fight Paul Williams. if he doesnt he’s a str8 chump. Even if floyd beats Pac, Pac would still be held in higher regards.

Cotto did not complain about the fight and acknowledge that pacquiao is too much for him compare to all his previous opponents..just accept the fact that during weigh in pacquiao is only 144lbs while cotto is 145lbs.. during fight night cotto maybe gained 10lbs heavier.. dont make nonsense opinion.. peace
@ BADGER , seriously what is wrong with you , you are really not a boxing fan, welterweight is normally from 145- 147, his last fight against clottey he came in @ 146, the fight was contracted for 147, i was part of team clottey so i was in the closed weigh in, he was drained, i met him, have pics of him, i felt sorry 4 both fighters b,cos clottey was drained too. BUT miguel has been fighting as a welterweight long enough not to have 2 lbs bother him. DONT MAKE excuses for him because he was tagging manny, only for manny to walk through him punches.

i do not like mayweather as a person… but as a boxer.. and as an athlete none right now top him. manny is a great great fighter and id love for him to win. but honestly mayweather will destroy him. just my opinion.
for having NOT a complicated scenario, 50/50 is much better.. why? because if it goes to 55/45 or 60/40 to the winner, Mayweather will come to the ring OVER the weight limit to make sure he has the weight advantage and win the fight… remember when he fought Marquez last Sept? He was over the weight limit.. So if he wins he got the 60%? even he is Over the weight limit?
Everybody all on Pac for beating two oppenents that Floyd beat before. Why is Pac the best in the division after beating 3 in the division. Pac should have taken on Sugar Shane who would have came down to his weight. Now that Floyd talks and backs it up, people want to say he needs to fight Pac only because they think he is going to lose. People just don’t like the way he is but if you look at it, if boxing is a business, he take care of his. Too much speed in this fight if it would happen, we all want to see it, but lets see if they going to do.
This should be at 147, Pacquiao needs to stop with the catchweights.

i want to see it as an even split
If Mayweather would insist that they fight at 147, I would suggest that final weigh-in would be done on the day of the fight itself during/after the last undercard to limit Mayweather at 147 only. Let’s face it, that alone is a huge advantage for Mayweather.
If anyone who weigh-in above the agreed weight limit should automatically get the 60% prize fight excluding the penalties agreed upon.
Another roadblock is the weight they would agree to fight. We all witnessed how Mayweather unprofessionally broke the terms of the cacthweight.
We don’t wanna see the eventual winner clouded by controversy over a catchweight. We want to see a clear winner in the weight category both fighters are comfortable fighting in.
If Money really wants to make the fight and get the percentage he likes he needs to gamble for it. 40% guaranteed share and the other 20% for the winner. If both fighters feel they are a better fighter than the other one, I don’t see them not agreeing to this term because that would also mean a guaranteed 60% on them. Only the inferior fighter among them would not agree to this because they see the probability of the other one winning against him.
When the idea was first circulated even before the Mayweather-Marquez fight. I know that money and weight category would be the biggest factors in this fight. Both fighters earned their right to demand for their share.

Badger maybe you were not able to watch the post-fight interview…Arum said the 2 pounds will not be an issue…he said that since Mayweather will most likely just pay-off the excess poundage anyway like he did Marquez then might as well go the full 147-lb. limit.
I bet the least Mayweather would settle with is a 50-50 sharing. Pacquiao knows he will beat Mayweather and would probably accept 60-40 in favor of the winner.
But for me, the promoter should make the first offer of 60-40 in favor of the winner. That way we will know who among both fighters is scared of the other. The one who refuses will be that guy.

Yeah. Pacman takes on bigger and stronger opponents alright. Then forces them to come down in weight so he has an advantage. If this fight happens, it should be at 147 and not a pound less. It’s bizarre enough that Pac was allowed to win Miguel Cotto’s welterweight belt when they were not figting at welterweight. I don’t want Roach and Pacquiao to tip things in their favour anymore by effectively giving the other guy a handicap.

both fighters are big stars, the best in the best division at the moment. neither fighter deserves more money than the other and if Mayweather asks for the lions share as i think he will, then its just an excuse not to take the fight. sorry for the early prediction but Pacquiao to win by late stoppage or unanimous decision.
