Nate Campbell: ”Pacquiao aint beating these guys at their actual weight”

pac5553By Liam Santiago: Thank you Nate Campbell. Finally, someone with some sense. Manny Pacquiao has really been boiling my kettle lately with his wins over fighter’s who were either shot, weight drained, or shot and weight drained. However, I am certainly not alone in my thinking, lightweight legend Nate Campbell sides with me. Speaking to fight hype Campbell said, ”that two pounds to get down to 145 must have really hurt him”.

He went on to say, ”A lot of people don’t really understand that…what happens is, in the lower weight classes, it really does a lot to you when you have to take off one pound. Why do you think the weight classes from flyweight to junior bantamweight is three pounds?

”Look, I’ma tell you like this, styles make fights and Pac is running rampant now in all weight classes, but he’s not fighting the full division. All these people are saying ‘aw, man, he’s greater than Henry Armstrong’. No he’s not!! Henry Armstrong fought in a time when there was no middle weight classes, for one, and he fought the weight of the guy he came up to. That two pounds makes a difference. ”

”Fight a guy at 147 and beat a guy at 147. Pacquiao aint fighting any of these guys at their actual weight. Why should Floyd be made to fight these guys at their weight? See, it’s ok for Manny to get a pass, but it’s not ok for Floyd to get a pass. The weight is 47, the fight should be 47!”.

True words from an expert. Not only is it wrong to be fighting these guys at energy draining catch weights, it is even more wrong to fight the champion at that weight and demand he puts his title on the line. Anyone who knows Miguel Cotto or has seen him fight before will understand he was weight dead in that ring against Pacquiao. He was flat and had no snap in his punches. His punches had zero power, he was not even using his legs to punch. Why? Because he was so damn tired and drained.

jealous jealous jealous. that campbell guy will always be in pacquiaos shadows

  • Wacky Jabber says:

Nate Campbell is a LEGEND? Are you seriously STUPID? Is this the same Nate Campbell who was knocked out by Robbie Peden for being Stupid? NATE CAMPBELL’S STUPIDITY IS LEGENDARY. The notoriety of his Pacman Envy is fast catching up. And I thought Paulie Malignaggie had the worst case of Pacman Envy. I cannot say that Nate Campbell suffered brain damage because of the knockout punch administered by Robbie Peden because he had shown his stupidity even before the knockout. Nate Campbell is not just stupid inside the ring; he has proven that he can be just as stupid outside of the ring.

  • Liam Santiago is a retarded maggot says:

Last I checked Mayweather’s last 2 fights weren’t at the fighters actual weights either. So wtf you on about?

  • motownhitman says:

I think it is worth mentioning that even though Floyd and Marquez agreed to a certain weight there was a stipulation that for every pound over Floyd would have to pay 300K which tells me that everyone involved knew there was a possibility that Floyd would weigh over the “limit”. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone and I am sure JMM welcomed it because it put another 600K in his pocket.

  • pugile italiano says:

my advice….read the article from your very own site. an article my mr. steve lewis…maybe you will learn to use your brains even a bit in writing an article, not gibberish and nonesense, and somebody else’s opinions, what, you’re just their secretary?mayweather snr,…campbell…..o man, you’re so desperate…PATHETIC really.

  • BBull says:

Boxing Fan i would love to see Manny and Marquez again on his current weight he will kill Marquez Ko him within 3rounds.Cotto was 146 in his last fight against Manny he just went back to the toilet for that last 1 pound

  • Oli says:

Im not saying cotto was weight drained, he got destroyed by an awesome fighter. But you cannot say 2Ibs doesnt matter because clearly it does or they wouldnt have insisted on 145.

Another thing is If the fight with mayweather is going to happen it WILL be at 147. Mayweather will not allow any concessions on weight, that is definate. SO the point is if you will fight dela hoya at 147, and you will have to see floyd at 147, WHy make cotto do 145? its a good question.

Pacquiao great fighter tho and the best in the world to watch

  • THE WRITER OF THIS ARTICLE IS A PIG FU…CKER WHOOAAAAAHH HA HA

  • filipino_PacFan says:

The difference between Mayweather and Liam Santiago is one is a talented boxer while the other one is a no good writer who doesn’t know what he is writing.

The similarity between Mayweather and Liam Sanatiago. Both of them do not intend to keep their word. They say something and they plan not to keep it.

  • paul says:

shut the fcuk up !!! u should be fired !!! for putting column like this !!! u s2pid fcuk !!!

  • filipino_PacFan says:

The difference between Pacquiao-Mayweather and the weight issue:

Pacquiao vs Cotto agreed on the 145 catch weigth and they fought at 145.

Mayweather vs Marquez agreed on the 144 catch weight but Mayweather decided not to keep the agreed upon weight during the fight.

So I think I have a reason to get pi$$ with Mayweather and not with Pacquiao.

  • haoquai says:

  • Leonard says:

Cotto only lost 1 pound from his previous fight of 146 from Clotey and thier making a big deal out of it. Campbell is a big lier.

  • jake joson says:

hes just a talentless writer who relies on making stupid comments about pac in order to get hits…THE BEST WAY IS TO NOT READ HIS ARTICLES

  • WC says:

as much as i’d hate to admit it…Liam has a valid point not based on the predictions before the fight, but the way that Cotto looked on fight night..he was weight drained and gave up his only advantage going into the fight which was size and power…he had neither of the two…you don’t know how that will affect a fighter until he steps into the ring…that one or two pounds does make a difference usually, and it did in this fight…I don’t know if Cotto would have won, but he would have made it more interesting if he carried his power and strength that night…and he didn’t. He was weak and ran out of gas very early…a sign of over training…let’s keep it honest people…that was not the Cotto everyone was expecting that night…if he had the power and strength that he usually had when he weighed at the WELTERWEIGHT limit of 147…we might be talking about Cotto vs. Mayweather instead…one final thought…In Vegas in fights previous to this one..they usually show the weight of fighters on fight night to show the weight gain after weigh in…they did not do that…does anyone else question this besides me?? why do you think that might be? I have an idea; because from the beginning there was no way that Arum and everyone else involved wasn’t going to set up a Pacman vs. Mayweather mega fight…if they showed the weight that night..I bet my entire paycheck that Cotto did not weigh his customary 155+ that night..he looked small and I would guess he weighed no more than 150.

  • Daaayyymmm!!! do i smell jealousy or wat. i mean daymmm… come on now wtf is dis fool smokin it must b some good shiet there.. i sense a very strong hate from dis NOBODY.. i mean who the hell is dis fool to say such thing to manny.. what did manny ever do dis BigLOOSER.. did manny creat a big impact in your boxing career cause u just couldn’t compare yourself to where manny at right now. what a pitty.. he doesn’t know wat manny did to deserve a real respect. i mean a little man went up in 7 diffrent weight division and fight bigger guys come on na. yo! your jst no where to come close to manny period. no matter what… like i said there always going to b jealousy and hatred and i don’t blame u god mercy on u man.

This guy is a moron. Floyd didn’t fight JMM at the contract weight. If a boxer agreed to a weight it’s a fair fight. If you think it’s not fair, don’t fight, easy as that.

How can you get a welterweight title fighting at a catchweight?
Never the less it was a good fight and Pac is a great champ.

  • anti floyd says:

want to be like pakyaw too nate? want to have big money? why dont you challenge anyone at welter at 145 lbs too… lets see if you can bust them!!!! lol!! liam…. better smuggle beans from mexico rather than hard trying writer… lol..

  • kantotalot says:

Santiago, you yourself have stated that Cotto will not be weight drained and even put your career on the line that Pacquiao would loose. Then after the fight you make an excuse to stick around and be laughed at.

  • diesel says:

A featherweight fighting at welter . . . hahahaha damn thats funny, i think you mean a featherweight fighting at catchweight . . . the only welter he had was against a on his way out part time fighter in De La Hoya . . . Last i read somewhere that they were planning on fighting Mosley at 143 . . . damn thats weak . . . Stuff like this will not make PAC an ATG . . .

  • Lucrates says:

    @LIAM SANTIAGO
    @NATE CAMPBELL

DELAHOYA, HATTON, COTTO IS ALL GROWN-UP INDIVIDUALS IMAO.

THEY ARE NOT STUPID TO AGREE TO A CATCHWEIGHT IF THEY WILL FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AT IT. YOU GUYS ARE ALL JEALOUS OF WHAT PACQUIAO HAD ACCOMPLISH.

LIAM SANTIAGO IS MAD OF PACQUAIO BECAUSE BECOZ PACQUIAO BEAT MARQUEZ.

NATE CAMPBELL, PAUL MALIGNAGGI, FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR. WAS JEALOUS OF PACQUIAO ACCOMPLISHMENTS BCOZ THEY DONT HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO WHAT CAN PACQUIAO DID.

SO MANY EXCUSES, SO MANY REASONS…YOU PEOPLE ARE MAKING BOXING FULL OF BIG STINKY MOUTHS LOL.

  • mann says:

I’m a Pac Man fan but I admire Cotto a lot. He have the balls enough to admit that he fought a great fighter. THe best he ever fought. DelaHoya and Hatton, they can’t accept the fact that Pacquaio now is the face of boxing. Why can’t other people give him credit. It was hardly earned. It didn’t come overnight. He took so many beating especially from Cotto. Liam and Manuel, I don’t know about you guys….

  • Judge says:

Choose your weight and Pacquiao will still knock you out. That’s how good he is. Oh He is really that good. “anting-anting ba”.

  • JP says:

This guy just put Nate Campbell and the word “legend” in the same sentence. That right there makes me question Liam Santiago’s knowledge. This is my first time on this website and I don’t think I’ll be back. I bet this “journalist” didn’t even get a check for this four paragraph “article.”

Let me guess, you’re another one who thinks Pac is on PED’s, right??

Well, the results were released today by the NSAC……..

  • PIJoe says:

Good one Deo…Liam can’t remember what he writes. ROTFL You say Cotto won’t be weight drained and then do an about face after the fight.

I don’t like to use this term because so many others do, but here it’s obvious. Liam…you’re a hater.

  • Manuel Perez Jr says:

Nate campbell doesn’t know boxing, do you know that at the time of Henry Armstrong, weigth in takes place at fight night and not a day before the fight. . . . . .

  • PIJoe says:

Liam Santiago you have got to be kidding. One lb did not weight drain Miguel Cotto. Cotto did not step into the ring at 145, he said before the fight that whether he weighs in at 145 or 146, he would weigh about 155 the night of the fight. From his own lips. Cotto could fight Manny Pacquiao a hundred times and he would get pummeled everytime. Big bad Cotto looked like he had been beaten within an inch of his life…and he had.

So Nate’s got a chip on his shoulder. He had some good wins but lost to guys he should have beaten (several times) and therefore never got a chance to fight Pac for the big bucks. Guys like Hatton and Oscar who got their chance at Pac are making statements in the press because they’re still mad they were beaten up. Guys like Malinaggi and Campbell make their statements/accusations because they’re B-level fighters who’ll never get their shot at Pac. Face it Liam…it’s Pac’s world, you’re just a whiner living in it.

  • Sniper says:

Pacquiao is on top because he beats the top boxers out there, so there’s no reason to question why he is on top of the boxing world.. He is a featherweight who fights in welterweight..

  • BoxingFan says:

or perhaps a gentleman ,we have herd of
    Edwin Valero?

  • BoxingFan says:

my friend very true, i do not dissagree with that a bit… do u have a hint why pac wouldnt fight JMM again? one thing for sure is true is when ur on top u can pick and choose who u fight.

  • Sniper says:

    @BoxingFan

do you think pac will fight dela hoya at 154 at that time? don’t be silly, going up from 135 to 154 is not normal.. where is your logic?

  • BoxingFan says:

    sniper
by the way pac did kick de la hoyas butt, when de la hoya was on his way out,,just like,,may i remind you…..floyd “beat the used to be the best fighters” mayweather!! what a joke?

    ALSO DO U REMEMEBR
    CHAVEZ DE LA JOYA??
ANOTHER JOKE OF A FIGHT,chavez was on his way out express!!! lol
does it make u a great fighter beating fighters that are on there way out? i dont think so.

  • BoxingFan says:

Please do not get me wrong, pacquiao is a very good fighter, but try and say he is killing everybody every where he goes ??C-mon,Funny how everybody needs to have it pacquiao’s way or no way!!!ANOTHER Pacquiao-Marquez fight will probably happen, if floyd “beat every fighter on his way out”mayweather does’nt agree on the fight, but then again he needs to prove ahumm, how he is #1.

  • Pakyaw says:

    Excuses, excuses and more excuses…

  • Sniper says:

tell me when was the last time Manny Pacquiao fought in a catchweight? It was against Miguel Cotto at 145… Against Dela Hoya??? no! It wasn’t a catchweight it was at welterweight at 147 and in fact it was Dela Hoya who demanded the fight to be in that weight and promised that he’ll knock Pacquiao out.. and then what happend in the fight he quit…

  • BoxingFan says:

I find it funny how someone here said manny pac, toyed with juan manuel marquez..huh..lol
do u rememebr MARQUEZ DID BEAT HIM OR WAS THAT A FLUKE?? AND THE OTHER FIGHT WAS ALSO VERY CLOSE TO THE POINT THAT EVEN SOME FILIPINO FANS SAID PAC LOST .By the way marquez has been chasing the “pac” but he doesnt want anything to do with him!!

  • Natdaddy says:

If you think Nate Campbell is a “lightweight legend” then you really need to find a new job.

  • kyle says:

ps- this is coming from a guy who quit in his fight with tim bradley, and fought Ali Funeka OVERWEIGHT…Nate Campbell is a whiner…look at his fight with Bradley

also…pacquiao fought once at a catchweight…and that was against cotto…manny is a career featherweight (126) amd junior lightweight (130) while cotto is a full fledged welterweight…2 lbs wasnt gonna change the outcome for this fight

  • diesel says:

c’mon pacquiao gets too much credit, if you can recall he wanted to fight cotto at 143 and have his tittle on the line, i bet a lot of people would have thought that was amazing, and you know what it is stupid that he got to make that a championhip match when cotto could not make the limit, i doubt cotto would have won anyway even at 147, but PAC’s team needed some insurance, it’s a lot likt how mayweather cherry picks opponents, but when he fought at welter HE FOUGHT AT WELTER the thing i could say is that at least he didnt need a catchweight for any fighter, he fought them without compromising themselves. when he fought and beat De La Hoya he fought him at middleweight which was DLH’s Prime weight and he beat him. If the pac-mayweather fight happens you can expect team pac to demand a catchweight. they have already thought about making mosley come down to 143 for pacs next fight. PAC is a Great Fighter, but he will never be an All Time Great untill he stops with the catchweights and gets in there with tough welter competition to see if he can really dominate all those divisions, not just fight a chump of a champ and then move on drain a good fighter. cant give him that much credit till he does that. . .

  • kyle says:

didnt u say you were gonna quit if pac won…u act like a chick liam

  • Johnny says:

Old news! same feathers(losers) flocks together!whahahaha

  • Galactic Alignment says:

  • BIG WILLY says:

LOLL NATE CAMBELL A LIGHT WEIGHT LEGEND U GOTTA BE KIDDIN ME LOLL THE GUY IS NOTIN NEAR A LEGEND MORE LIKE A ONE HIT WONDER LIKE VANILLA ICE LOL.U R A PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A WRITER I STILL DONT KNOW WHY THEY HAVEN’T FIRED U, AND I HONESTLY WONDER WAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET THIS JOB CAUSE I KNOW A HELL OF ALOT MORE BOXING THAN U DO BUDDY AND THATS A FACT.U SHOULD BE BAND FROM WRITING BOXING ARTICLES,AS A MATTER OF FACT UR WHOLE FAMILY AND GENERATIONS TO COME SHOULD BE BANNED!!!

  • mp productions says:

    manny: “campbell who?”

  • caveman says:

Hey, Pacquiao fought Delahoya @ 147 then he fought Hatton @ 140. Pacquiao go and up down his weight without an indication of being drained. In fact, he put Hatton to sleep. Oh yeah, what are you doing here writing articles about boxing and antagonizing Pacquiao?

  • twhite says:

Thats bs, Pacquiao made them make that a championship match and he wasn’t the champ, something is fishy about him. He gets to pick the weight they fight at but yet he is considered the best. Floyd beat these guys at there weight but he is considered a fight who cherry picks. Come on, Pacquiao is good, I give him that but lets be real with this, he gets his way a little too much. fight a champion at his weight not a weight that you know is going to drain him and you have a advantage at.

  • Rocky says:

    To Liam:
Now you are saying Cotto was weight drained??? But you knew from the start they were fighting @ 145, but yet you said Cotto wil KO pacman. If you think 2 lbs makes a difference then you should have predicted that Pac will KO Cotto because he would be weight drained. You were so sure that Cotto will KO pac, now you’re making an excuse AGAIN..??

  • mickeymarley says:

Liam stick the tea on if your boiling the kettle.

Oh guys incase you would like to know, Gilfish, Perez and our Liam here are all the one comedy act.

Two kettles boiled in one day by Gilturd and Liam? Its easy, there bad writing gives it away anyway

  • MANUEL PEREZ says:

Liem, who told you, you could get out of my bed? I though I tied you to the bed? Go back to my bed and wear that sexy lingerie you had on earlier! I’ll be back to take care you of naughty boy!!

  • Sourpuss1 says:

Loooser! that’s all you can come up with?

  • guest says:

Many people say that Cotto looked drained/weak and point to the 4th round when he had Manny on the ropes. Keep in mind, Pac had already dropped him once. To me it looked like Cotto was hesitant to let his hands go because he thought Manny was setting a trap for him, so he could counter him. It looked more like he was throwing his punches excepting something in return instead of letting his hands go. And sure enough Manny dropped him again about 30 seconds later.

  • ART SA BOXING EXPERT says:

nate campbell is a jealous hater and a quiter- he quit his last fight and made many excuses! Who is he to criticize anyone! Oh yea i forget to mention that this writer and manuel perez are officially a couple!

  • ihadsexwith liam's wife says:

we all knew liam wasn’t gonna quit writing. what else is he gonna do for a living? maybe mow lawns…

  • ihadsexwith liam's mom says:

another idiotic article. how can this guy call nate campbell a legend? it’ll be interesting when pacquiao finally retires and you’ll have to write about something else. enjoy all the hits now cause nobody’s gonna read your articles without pac as the topic. you have no talent as a writer. go back to a community college.

  • swiper says:

mr santiago your the daddy of all loser. mr perez the mommy of all loser.

  • deo says:

    LIAM SANTIAGO,
    REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID???
    Liam Santiago

On November 14th Manny Pacquiao will face the biggest
test of his life. He will step up to face the huge
punching warrior, Miguel Cotto. The Pacquiao camp
seem to be looking past Cotto already. Already they
are eyeing up a date to fight Floyd Mayweather.
Do they believe Cotto poses no threat?
The Puerto Rican star will not be weight drained
and he certainly won’t have the disadvantage of
having Mayweather Snr in his corner.

By Liam Santiago: After many months of illusion hype towards the Pac-Man,
it is time for boxing fans to open their eyes and get real.
Pacquaio is a good fighter, but not a great one.
I am 100% sure he will lose to Miguel Cotto in November,
probably by knockout. If he does not, I will never writer
    another article on boxing again.

  • Scourge says:

Oh yea, like the previous guy was asking, what are you still doing here?

  • Scourge says:

Read the article right below this one. I think the author is speaking to the likes of you. All Cotto needed to do was take a big dump in the morning and he would’ve lost those two pounds. Nate Campbell is just like Malignaggi, a jealous mediocre fighter.

  • Liam the liar says:

hey…liam the liar…you’re back again?as i remember, you wrote an article that you won’t write again if pacman wins over cotto…you lied…you liar…be man enough to back up your words…liar…

  • DaWildGal says:

Yeah, this coming from Nate Campbell…a guy who lost to Isaac Hlatswayo, Francisco Lorenzo, Robbie Peden (twice), and can’t even beat some dude named Edelmiro Martinez. That was only back in 2003, same year Pacman toyed w/ Barrera. Hey Nate, try not taking the easy way out against Bradley, then maybe you can talk about Pacman.

  • Stevo says:

Liam? What are you still doing here?

  • Armando says:

You do not have any credibility anymore. It went away when you did not keep your word. You are pathetic.

  • Travelmpq says:

Oh yeah, and Pacquiao’s on steroids too, I suppose. What, the Nevada Athletic Commission just announced he teated clean before and after the fight? Gee, there goes another excuse. Idiot!

  • Big D says:

So what if Pacquiao doesn’t fight these guys at their own weight? Pacquiao is not fighting them at his own weight either. He’s the smaller guy going up to them.

  • Travelmpq says:

Cotto has fought at that weight before and wasn’t “drained.” he himself said the weight wasn’t a problem. Why don’t you just admit the obvious: Pacquiao is a better fighter.
