D-nasty that opinion is based on the fact that Floyd fought at a weight which was above his natural weight and gave away 4 pounds in weight to De La Hoya so that's why i find Mayweather's win just as impressive as Pacquiao's.

And yeh Mayweather did get a tenth round ko and Pacquiao got a second round ko but in analysing these you have to realize that Mayweather was just as effective imposing his style and game plan as Pacquiao was. You can't expect Mayweather to blow Hatton out in two rounds because he doesn't fight like that.

Pacquiao was fighting at 106 lbs when he was 16, Mayweather was fighting at 106 lbs when he was 16, fact. The only difference was that Pacquiao was professional and Mayweather wasn't able to turn pro until 18. So Pacquiao's weight gain is just as natural as Mayweather's.

I give this article a B-. To think that Mayweather's wins over De la Hoya and Hatton are equally impressive then Pacquiao's wins over the same two people is absolutely ridiculous! Mayweather went the distance with De la Hoya and while he did dominate the fight, he did not dominate him how Pacquiao did. Pacquiao made him quit on his stool. Mayweather dominated Hatton also and knocked him out in the late rounds but nothing compared to Pacquiao completely destroying him in less than two rounds. Come on! Boxer or fighter, defense or offense, Pacquiao's two wins over the same boxers was absolutely, with out a doubt more impressive than Mayweathers. Add that this is a fighter that started at 106lbs and it's pretty much a no brainer.

Not bad article.

I just can't figure out why Mayweather chose to fight Marquez when there were other better match.

CB i don't mean to show Pacquiao as a dodger because i think he is anything but a dodger, it was meant to show that the top fighters like Pacquiao & Mayweather wouldn't fight Cotto for such little reward knowing there's a bigger fight out there, referring to Mayweather-Pacquiao,or at the time when Cotto wanted Mayweather he had the De La Hoya option.

Mayweather = Boring...YAWN!! That's not to say he isn't good.

I do disagree with the comparison to fighting Cotto for lesser money. Saying Manny wouldn't fight him either at the money. That notion clearly demonstrates or portrays to many as a dodger. Some of the higher caliber fighters require a bigger purse. Only some of the lesser talented fighters accept a smaller purse thus resulting in a Mayweather fight against a lesser boxer.

Look put this all to rest with both of them accepting the challenge. If the fight doesn't happen his legacy as Dodgweather will be etched in stone. Should he rise up and accept then he stepped to the plate.

Jorge everything i've said is backed up so i have no clue what you're on about.

Pugilist, none of this is aimed at Manny Pacquiao, i know he is one of the most humble men in the sport, the article is aimed at the critics of both fighters.

Abolish the catchweight (nice name by the way), i'm sorry if you feel i've over hyped the fighters, but don't you feel these two would be greats in any era? & i'm a fan of all of boxing history so i don't mean to discredit the legends of the great era's but these two are as close as this generation can get to the great era's.

Phoocquiao, Cotto-Pacquiao did over 1.5 million buys it was $50 odd dollars for standard and $60 odd dollars for high definition. That's ppv buys just, imagine the advertising, merchandising, ticket sales and the money the fight will bring to them in the future. Pacquiao got far more than $8 million, even with Bob Arum taking 25% as many of his old fighters have reported.

Pmcblack your argument is flawed. Mayweather fought 3 months before Mosley's second fight with Vargas and went on record saying that he would wait 4 months for Mosley (plenty of time to come down in weight naturally) but instead Mosley took one extra month to have his next fight against Collazo, what did he weigh for this? Surprise, surprise he came in at 147 lbs! And Mosley has always been able to come down or move up in the weights with ease (and i'm not referring to BALCO now i'm being genuine). An example is him going from 154 for Mayorga to 147 for Margarito so he could have made the weight in 4 months to fight Mayweather as he later proved.

Ancient Silence that's really refreshing to read and i agree totally with you. Thanks for all the compliments too guys.

One of the better (and less biased) articles that I've read recently. Lets see the fight with a 50/50 split or winner-take-all and lets see it at the usual ww title bout weight of 147.
