Let’s hope the referee and judges are not against Miguel Cotto

By Liam Santiago: Lets get one thing straight. There are many big money men in America, who are involved in the organization of tonight’s mega fight between Miguel Cotto and Manuel Pacquiao, who want a Pacquiao/Mayweather super fight next year. They do not want Cotto spoiling the party. I just hope none of that affects judging and, more importantly, the referee’s actions.
If it does go to the scorecards, and Cotto is a clear winner, will he get the nod? Oscar De La Hoya said before his fight with Pacquiao, ”I hear Bob Arum has a lot of say in the judges decisions in Vegas”. Although Cotto also fights for Arum’s promotional company, Top Rank, lets be serious, he wants Pacquiao to beat Cotto. He wants Pacquiao to fight Mayweather next year in a huge fight which could generate 120 million dollars or more. I am not suggesting he will have any input on the judges scorecard, I am simply going of what De La Hoya has said and the fact that many people want to see Pac Man take on Mayweather, a plan which does not involve Miguel Cotto.

…this says it all- PaCMan gave Cotto his best chances of winning by doing da forbidden laying on da ropes (much to Freddy’s dismay), yet Miguel couldn’t get off his power shots maybe fearing strong countershots and even those he got off barely scratched Manny’s itch, PacMan’s rope-a-dope proved he could take and nullify Cotto’s power even at center ring, he even pummelled Miguel’s body better and was more effective dan da great body puncher Cotto is supposed to be…in short he even fought Cotto’s fight and punished him negating da need for judge’s decisions…it was pitiful to see a powerful warrior like Cotto reduced to a backpeddling trackster to survive da inevitable in da last rounds…PacMan is truly a magnificent athletic specimen regardless of race, I can see him doing dis to PBF who doesn’t hit as hard as Cotto… let’s keep it real and give credit where it’s due-peace

pacquiao with roach is a great fighter not without roach i studied the fight the reason cotto got beat so badly is simly coz pacquiao followed roachs plans, even roach himself said cotto is a smart fighter he nullifies speedy fighters leans u into punches but pacquiao did a terrific in and out job simply perfect.

big names will always have the luxury of biased judges. anyone with relative knowledge of boxing can point to the plethora of examples where the famous boxer gets a nod from the judges despite losing. i hope it doesn’t happen, but if this decision goes to the judges, expect the judges to be tonguing Pac-man’s package.
lets face it: boxing is about the money for the promotors. as good as Cotto is, Pacman’s the bigger name and him facing Mayweather is more lucrative than Cotto/Mayweather.
Cotto isn’t flashy, nor charismatic. he doesn’t have the boyish charm that Manny has and needless to say he lacks the kind of endearing charisma Pacman has.
