Kessler-Ward: Don’t Expect An Upset Here
By Peter Wells: I’ve tried every single possibility to see how Ward can beat Kessler and I just can’t see it happening. I give Ward all respect he proved he had a good chin against banger Edison Miranda, but Mikkel is different, he is a boxer and much bigger than any of Andre’s previous opponents, plus Kessler has only been defeated by Joe Calzaghe. But since retaining his WBA title Mikkel hasn’t fought anybody of great recognition.
Andre Ward like most fighters with only 20 or less fights has been sheltered from the top class opposition and has learned plenty from his opponents, Ward has been floored very early in his career and that started a debate of whether he can hold a punch, but redeemed himself against the man who broke Arthur Abraham’s jaw (though failed twice to dethrone ‘King’ Arthur). He kept out the way out of trouble but didn’t crumble when tagged on the chin. He has only knocked out 13 of his 20 opponents and is not the kind of fighter to knock out Kessler or any other decent chinned fighters. His main asset is his speed and skill, he is very quick and has great skill which makes up for his lack of power. He did stop his last opponent in just 3 rounds on the same night that Kessler won his last bout.
Neither Kessler or Ward have took on the kind of opponents that they will face in the Super Six, and both have the chins to withstand each others punches. I see the more experienced Kessler to do what is expected of him and dominate the younger Andre Ward to win clearly on points despite being in America, but the US aren’t known for fixing the score cards (like the Germans).

Its easy to make a bet over the net having a bookmaker hold the money… I dare you Scott, lets bet 10.000 usd on that 60 sec KO….. or we can make it 10 g just on kessler winning or loosing…..
Question is Scott…Are you a FRAUD or a man. Do your word hold any credibility or is it all hot air.
Ohh and how much are you willing to bet on those 60 seconds KO ….. is 10 k to much for you ?
Ohhh Scott…….I am impressed with your kamikazestyle predictions….If you are wrong youre are gonna be even more of a clown than ever.
Actually I cant see you writing anything that anyone into boxing would consider credible.
In other words You scott will be exposed for the ignorant fraud you are.
I a manner of speaking….you have already proved a fraud with all your previous wrong predictions of fights.
I guess Mikkel will “turn your lights out” as a boxing writer the same way he will humiliate Ward in front of his own hometown crowd. It would be humiliating had it not been *Mikkel, but being the favorite its just what all the bookmakers predict
Mikkel is no fraud like you Scott. *Otherwise he would stay at home having his “german” judges fixing things for him. He can handle him self pretty well anyway.
Looking forward to being able to laugh at Scott for the imbecile he is. Go hide Scott you are the laughing stock of boxing commentators. Useless punk.
Americans don’t fix scorecards? Ahem, Holyfield – Lewis?
Ward is the King and will KO that fraud Kessler within 60 seconds.
ward is another stoogee. he’ll run for sure.
kessler in a easy decision win .
I cant see Ward winning this, not against Kessler.
But if he proves to be as good as people think at this level i hope hes learnt something from the Froch Dirrell fight. You can dance and dazzle but its a 12 round fight and your fighting a tough opponant. You gotta keep going.
I can see Ward winning this fight a number of ways. He can counter punch on the retreat. He can keep it in the middle of the ring an pot shot him. He can maul him up against the ropes and bang him on the inside. Ward can do all of those things. But Kessler, I can only see winining one way. By drawing Ward in to his range and catching him with one two combinations. He won’t be able to catch Ward coming in or moving out of Ward’s own punching range. If he isn’t able to lull Ward into fighting a squared up fight inside of Kessler’s punching range Ward will win. And it won’t even be close. Ward has to make some serious tactical mistakes to give the slower more basic fighter a chance to win. IMHO.
“great article”…I can already hear it smh
