Jones-Green, Hopkins-Ornelas: Will the Hopkins-Jones rematch be ruined in Australia?

hopkins34439By Peter Wells: Roy Jones Jr-Bernard Hopkins is already been set up for March 13th, and both fighters get ready for warm up fight on Wednesday. Bernard fights in his hometown of Philadelphia, while Jones goes down under to Australia for Danny Green’s IBO Cruiserweight title. Jones is going up in weight, but has done it before and that won’t affect him. Green is the toughest out of the two opponents and defiantly the most likely to cause an upset. Danny Green has been beaten 3 times although hasn’t lost since 2006 where he was out pointed by Anthony Mundine. He’s also lost twice to Markus Beyer once by disqualification and the other on points. He hasn’t fought the type of opposition Jones stands with, and is 36 and getting worse with age. He is powerful though, and with Jones coming up in weight will allow him to have a big power advantage. Jones doesn’t lack a punch either; he used to be one of the power fullest punchers alive, and still has knockout power.

It’s a very difficult fight to call, you can make a good argument for Danny, as he is the naturally bigger fighter and can punch hard, but Jones has one of the best chins in boxing and can bang himself. This fight will start in Green’s favour dominating in most parts, but as long as Roy keeps off the ropes he can take the fight from Green with a close but unanimous decision.

Bernard Hopkins hasn’t been in the ring for over a year, but last time out schooled young unbeaten Kelly Pavlik, and is defiantly getting better with age. His opponent is Enrique Ornelas who hasn’t fought anybody good at all. He just recently lost at Middleweight to Marco Antonio Rubio, and has had one fight since at Super Middleweight, and is making his debut at Light Heavyweight. This is no doubt an easy fight for B-Hop and should start cautiously for about 4 rounds getting back into his rhythm, and then getting his first knockout since 2004, where he stopped Oscar De La Hoya. He should stop him in 9 rounds, just because Ornelas has never felt the power of a Light Heavyweight and is going to be totally outclassed throughout.

So our March showdown should still be rolling perfectly and lets see what happens their, still my Jones prediction isn’t at all stable, I’ve still got a big feeling there could be an upset, and being in Australia their could be a bad decision if it’s too close.
