Haye’s only Klitschko option may be a fight with Vitali
By Chris Williams: It’s looking more and more like World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye has burned his bridge for a potential unification bout with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Yesterday, a slightly testy Wladimir Klitschko said to Sky Sports News “I actually do not want to give you any comments on David Haye because he bailed on me twice, from my fight and my brothers’ [Vitali Klitschko].” Wladimir went on to say that Haye is “Immature” and “not serious enough to take a challenge.”
Since moving up in weight to the heavyweight division last year, Haye has talked almost non stop about fighting one or both of the Klitschko brothers. Haye came close to accomplishing this goal by signing for a fight with Wladimir and getting near signing for a fight with Vitali. However, because of an injury to his back, Haye couldn’t go ahead with his fight with Wladimir.
Still, Haye was in a position to make the best of the situation by signing for a fight with Vitali. Haye didn’t go through with that fight either, complaining later he didn’t like the terms of the contract with Vitali. Since Wladimir seems to be for the time being sick of hearing about Haye, it might come down to Hayen being stuck with the tougher of the two brothers if he truly is still interested in fighting one of the Klitschko brothers.
That might not be a good choice for Haye, at least not with his lack of experience at the heavyweight level. Haye hasn’t fought anyone near the talent level of Vitali. Haye recently defeated WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev by a 12 round majority decision but didn’t look all that special in beating Valuev. Haye gave excuses later on saying that he had injured his right hand early in the fight.
But there was nothing in Haye’s performance that showed that he would do well against the better half of the Klitschko brothers. Indeed, an argument can be made that heavyweight contender Chris Arreola was a better opponent for Vitali than what Haye will likely be. Haye fans like to point out that David always has a chance to win if he can land a big shot on the chin of Vitali.
They also point out that Haye has better movement and hand speed than Vitali. Haye could in theory take advantage of those skills if he were to be willing to take a chance and let his hands go enough where he’d be able to put some shots together.
However, the way that Haye was backpedaling all night against the weak punching Valuev, it seems to be a strong indication that Haye will be running for his life all night against Vitali and will lose either by a lopsided 12 round decision or by a late knockout.

Yes Vitali is really old and tired, I think he fell asleep during his last three fights I know his opponents did.
HAYE SHOULD FIGHT WLADIMIR FIRST, AS I THINK HIS SPEED AND PUNCHING POWER WILL BE TOO MUCH FOR WLADIMIR.I SUSPECT HAYE MOVEMENT,WILL MAKE AN OLD VITALI MISS AND HE WILL BE TIRED IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS . VITALI WILL QUIT LIKE HE DID AGAINST BIRD.I FELT THAT ONE MORE ROUND LIKE THE 6 ROUND AND VITALI WOULD HAVE QUIT AGAINST LEWIS, HE HAD HIT LEWIS WITH HIS HARDEST SHOTS ,AND LEWIS WAS WALKING HIM DOWN IN THE FINAL 2 ROUNDS.
haye did not clinch, becouse he was running backwards the whole borring fight. valuev got tired chasing haye all over the ring. I think that I could have ran to like a chicken. The only time haye came in was when haye ran out of places to hide. valuev is too slow that is y they call him the( sloth). haye would have looked fast against You to.
Mark my words, Haye will knock either of the Klitscho’s TFO. If they cop a punch like that left hander that Haye got Valuev with, they will definitely be going for a kip.
Haye will fight one of the brothers and it wont matter which because either of them will beat him, The only difference is Wladimir will punish him Vitali will kill him.
Haye doesn’t get under their skin they are to smart for that they just don’t understand bad manners and Britain is awash with it. We revel in crap talk, and they don’t.
people seem to think that haye is a runner after one fight where he has ran and now all of a sudden hes a runner yet he still won so in my opinion that is a game plan that has worked now he is the most exciting heavyweight in the divison
Vitali is the one we wanted to see, no?
I completely agree with you Dewi, imagine 23 stone leaning on you. I don’t know if you ever saw in wrestling Giant haystacks and Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks just fell on him, he was sretchered off to hospital. I think Haye should do the same game plan that he used on Valuev on Ruiz, Ruiz will end up clinching the ref.
haye will flatten both brothers and they both no it.
Sounds to me that Vladimir is SCARED. What kind of world champion wants nothing to do with an oppertunity to claim another title? But then we should of known he was chicken from when he squeezed all those rematch clauses into the 1st fight.
haye wont care which brother he faces 1st, whether we believe he can beat them or not he certainly believes he can so its no problem to him.
The only way these fights wont happen is if A-Ruiz beats him or B the Klithkos refuse to negotiate or try to throw in another ridiculous set of clauses.
If they were so confident theyd just be happy to take the fights so they could punish him for what hes said. Considering these are FIGHTERS they are sounding more like spineless polititions.
klitschko kos all of them
your about 3 days too late with this one chris you loser. other writers have already posted articles about this one
I don’t think we can read much into these comments. Wladimir is clearly upset at David Haye’s antics, which is exactly what Haye wants.
Do you think for one second that Wladimir will refuse a big money unification fight with David Haye because of his “immaturity”? Not a chance.
I’m sorry but it seems that Wladimir is showing some mental weakness here. David Haye will be rubbing his hands with delight at how much he has gotten under big Wlad’s skin. This is all part of the gameplan; the more Wlad comes out swinging the bigger chance David has of taking him out. David won’t be able to win a fight at distance because Wlads’ long range work is just too good.
I agree David stands much less chance against Vitali; but remember time is not on Vitali’s side and any potential contest is probably a year away, in which time Vitali will be 39 and David 30. David is playing a very smart game here and big credit needs to go to him IMO.
Doctor
Thanks – it is nice to have profesionals on comments!
Ps: As a doctor – what do you think?- What will be Haye’s next fake injury ???

RUUUN…DAVID…RUUUN…
Sure, Fletch His back, the contract the weather His Mother or and only perhaps He has more to say than to Show
WELL SAID DEWI, HEYE MOVED ON FROM THE BROTHERS COZ OF THE STUPID DEMANDS THEY MADE, THEY CANNT DO IT NOW COZ HE’S A CHAMP AND HE’S GOT A GREAT CHANCE OF BEAT BOTH OF THEM!!
Haye wasn’t staying away from Valuev’s punches he was staying away from the numerous clinches you normally see in a Valuev fight. This was clever because he didn’t have to shove Valuev off and drain his energy like so many fighters have done against Valuev. There were only two clinches in the fight, and one was when Haye rocked the hardest chin in boxing, so that’s testament to the effectiveness of Haye’s game plan.
