I can’t stand these boxers that hold on to their opponent like Dirrel against Froch, Hopkins against Calzage and Ruiz against everyone. It is these fighters that ruin the sport. It was refreshing to see a fight that didn’t have this problem with Haye. I dont know about the Matrix I think the Klingon is more appropriate.

I think the same thing – for a long time hoped that someone with a chance to get Klitschkos will come into play.
David Haye will be an underdog with either of them, but I believe he’ll ko at least one of them. Brothers are terribly boring to watch – last couple fight for hw championship I just didn’t bother to even watch. Happened to me for a first time in 28 years.

Just like to point out i’m British and I agree with the writer that one the fight was boring, but what did you expect he fought a giant. Anyone who thought that was going to be an exciting fight was in for a shock. He won and no more, fair play now he’s a champ.

Two it’s going to be difficult to generate interest for a Haye vs Klitschko fight in the USA. Haye isn’t well enough known, and the Klitschko brothers aren’t regarded as exciting fighters. For Steve to say that they shifted 60,000 tickets in Germany is irrelevant. The Klitschko’s fight out of Germany. Most of Germany was hoping to see Wlad standing over Haye’s battered body.

Oh and Chris, please stop being so bloody biased. This site is a complete joke sometimes.

If holyfield says haye needs to fight boring to win then he should know better than any writer because thats the tactics he used against valuev!!! sour grapes i think, the heavyweight belts are on european shores get over it!!! you state haye fighting barrett and ruiz nearing 40 years old who else is there better on usa soil!!!! oh yes i forgot james toney , rahman, thompson,austin ,mcall(over 40 and still probably the best heavyweight stateside) even lennox could come out of retirement tomorrow and wipe the floor with everthing youve got to offer!!!

Haye can’t beat Wladimir or Vitali by pot shotting. He will have to be willing to risk his neck by throwing some combinations instead of looking to land one big punch and then run. The fight won’t be popular in the U.S. because Haye hasn’t had enough fights here to win any fans aside from the hardcore variety. The average American doesn’t have idea who Haye is and wouldn’t care if he came on tv and started bragging. We have lots of people like him over here.

I have absolutely no doubt that if Haye was American your opinion and that of other reporters would be very different.

It may prove difficult for Haye to be popular in the US while the US heavyweight boxers are nowhere in the world rankings, but does he really need to be?

Fights against the Klitschko’s will be a real challenge for Haye as they are a step up from Valuev and will very popular globally (even if the US shows little interest).
