Haye, A Needed Boost for a Tired Division

By Charles Barrett: Love him or Hate him it’s hard to deny, that David Haye brings much needed excitement To a tired heavyweight division, and rather than knock him at every opportunity we should hope he is able to stick around for while, because where he goes excitement follows.

In no particular order here are some of the current top heavyweights;

The Klitschko’s,

haye32342462Alexander Povetkin

Chris Arreola

Ruslin Chagaev

Eddie Chambers. I don’t know about you but I’m asleep already,

Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking their collective ability as boxers, all I’m saying is your unlikely to kick your self if you happened to miss one of their contests.

A possible light on the horizon is the unbeaten Cubain Odlanier Solis currently 15-0

But of course one pebble doesn’t make a beach, the division could do with a further 3 or 4 potentials for us to get our teeth in to.

Has Haye got his faults?, of course he has!

Suspect stamina, questionable chin, I’m sure you can name some more. But the simple truth is in an era when the most exciting thing the heavyweights has to offer is for us to guess which Klitchko holds what title. I for one will rooting for Mr Haye to hang around a while longer because one thing is for sure win or loose it will be a blast.

Good article, None of us are saying Haye will go on to be this big success in the Heavyweight division (Who Knows) But what the guy brings to the ring as to be credited for, Anyone who as watched his previous fights will know he likes to get guys his size out of there early where has when he fought valuev that had to be a complete change of gameplan due to the size difference. Anyone who thinks Haye will back off and pot shot Ruiz must be mad, Im expecting a fast start with haye throwing is trademark Hayemakers straight away. Like sum 1 mentioned in a previous comment Haye as got people talking about the Heavyweight division wheter he is loved r hated and why all of a sudden do all these fighters want to fight him? because he is the talk of the sport and they want a piece…

thank god not another arcticle about how rubbish david haye is..
totally agree with your comments was starting to get sick of other writers such as scott slagging david haye off all the time.
he good for the sport of boxing.. seriously everyone is looking forward to seeing future haye fights..

  • Dave Stevens says:

Haye will shake up the world PERIOD!!!!!!!

  • Andrew Evans says:

I do agree that Haye will bring more entertainment. I didn’t know that he had ever been knocked out, if not how can he have a suspect chin. He has been knocked over but so what, how many times did that happen to Joe Calzaghe, Joe just got back up and won. Sooner that, than the boxers that hug the life out of the sport. I do think however that there are question marks over him keeping busy for 12 rounds. But I say long reign Haye.

  • UkanSodOff says:

Yep i have to agree, love him or hate him hes given a spark to the division. Whether hes good enough to beat a Klitchko is something im not sure about but one things for certain hed make more interesting fights than all the people mentioned in the article.

They all fight exactly the same against the Klitchkos and they all seem to lose in pretty much the same boring manor. Not their fault they are the best out there its just the way it is.

  • Martin says:

Unfortunately the sad reality is that many people get off on knocking successful people rather than recognising and supporting their talent.

Haye is entertaining, talented, articulate and one of the very few marketable heavyweights in the world.

I suspect that he will find it difficult to win over the majority of American fight fans, but what do you expect from a country that calls their national baseball tournament with the odd Canadian team a World series?

In Britain the general public tend to be more supportive of a less talented fighter that doesn’t quite make it to the top but gives it a good go and is humble, than the top British fighters that go on to achieve World honours and are confident in their ability which is a real shame.

  • Arnie says:

Many people do not like Haye because of his low and excessive trash talking and his immature stunts. Being British isn’t the issue here. Lennox Lewis was very well admired in boxing. He didnt participate in trash talking. He did his talking with his fists in the ring. Also, Lennox didnt run while he fought light hitting heavyweights.

  • Carlton Patio Furniture McLeod says:

Haye is a much needed breath of fresh air for the heavyweight division. Biggest fight this year excluding Haye was Vitali v Arreola and it was pish! Look forward to seeing the prefight hype before Klitschko/Haye fight(s)… Yeah he is a bit chinny but also can bang and is the fastest of the heavyweights therefore he needs to get his punches off and aviod being hit flush. Interesting to see what happens. Stop hating on him just cos he’s British!!

  • Anonymous says:

i think you hit the nail on the head “suspect chin stamina is suspect he should retire and save us all alot of money he will never be a good champ just my opinion

  • dan ciminera says:

I agree, I don’t like Haye, probably never will. BUT, he has got us all talking about the heavyweight division for the first time in years. And that is only set to get more exciting in the coming months as he signs fights against the Klitchko brothers

  • Mr Chicken says:

haye is about as exiting as watching a soap opera. I rather hear is BS, if you can understand what tha Haye he is talking about

  • Davey Jackson says:

    I agree with you…….
