Dawson Looking To The Future; Where Does Bute Go If He Beats Andrade?

dawson4521346By Peter Wells: Chad Dawson who today is scheduled to fight Glen Johnson is already mentioning future opponents, including Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr and Jean Pascal. It usually is a bad idea to look past your next opponent, but is Chad really that confident of winning he’s already suggesting other opponents. I do believe Dawson will win and a fight for the WBC Light Heavyweight title which he vacated to fight Johnson would be great especially against a class opponent in his own age category who be great, and maybe the winning between Dawson and Pascal could fight the winner of Hopkins-Jones.

But we all know he will be versing a top class opponent in Glen Johnson and doesn’t want to get caught in dream land when they enter the ring with each other. Maybe the fights are good ideas but maybe leave that till after the Johnson fight.

Where Does Bute Go If He Beats Andrade?

Lucian Bute is a bit stuck in the middle here, by not going into the super six tournament, then he isn’t left with many fights. If he beats Librado Andrade again they’ll be no point in having a trilogy, and even if he loses and has a rubber match next year, he’s still got over a year to wait till the top fighters are available to fight. The only other two fighters in the top 10 (according to Boxing Monthly) are Sakio Bika and Allan Green and they aren’t exactly great opponents if he wants to be well known in America. His only chance is if he moves up to Light Heavy and fights someone like Dawson or Cloud, or hope Kelly Pavlik is willing to move up a couple of pounds. If you ask me he should have entered the super six, but now he’s stuck with very little fights out their for him. If you have any suggestions on good opponents for Lucian Bute please say. Thank You for reading.
