Can Haye beat the Klitschko brothers?

haye4454545By Dennis Broadhurst: Just to let people know that I do like David Haye and I wish him all the best in his career. Noticing a lot of comments on my last article saying that Haye’s dancing and constant moving techniques were because he was fighting such a larger man made me think, they made me think about the Klitschko brothers.

David Haye last night was giving away 11 inches in height and 100lbs in weight, that is a huge disadvantage but Haye did fight a good fight and took advantage of the giant size of Valuev by making him swing all over the place. I think that if the fight happened again and Haye traded with Valuev from the start that Haye would knock him out.

We are all now going to be thinking about Haye fighting one of the Klitschko brothers. I hope Haye fights Wladimir first because he is slightly smaller than Vitali and has got a weak chin. If Haye can trade well with Wladimir and get inside to take away Wladimir’s reach advantage then I think that Haye was knock him out.

Haye cannot fight like he did against Valuev against Wladimir because that will not play to his advantage, Wladimir is a lot faster than Valuev and even though Wladimir is taller than Haye it is only by three or three and a half inches and that will not be anywhere near as significant as the 11 inch disadvantage Haye faced last night.

The thing I worry about is if Haye fights Wladimir then he may be caught with a big punch and knocked out, I hope that Haye will keep his chin tucked and his hands up to get on the inside against Wladimir. I think that the fight will end in knockout, hopefully in the favor of Haye.

If Haye beats Wladimir then he will sure want his brother who I guess will be 39/40 if they fight. Unless Vitali grows old (in terms of skills) over the next year or two then I cannot see Haye beating him. The reason is Vitali has an iron chin, Vitali is also a very good mover and will use his ring experience to avoid punishment and then use his great power knock Haye out.

I really wish that Haye could beat Vitali but I cannot see it happening. I hope that if Haye gets beat by Vitali then he will not lose his heart and will campaign for the title again. There is always a chance that Vitali could be out-boxed but I think he will use his height and experience well if he fights Haye. My prediction on the fight would be a stoppage for Vitali but anything can happen in boxing.

The reason I like Haye is because he is something new, loud and cocky but can back it up in the ring. I would like to see Haye become the undisputed champion to put his place in history but I think for this to happen then Vitali will have to retire.

Good luck though Haye if you next choose to fight Wladimir as I believe you have what it takes. Just to add that I think that Haye would slay Chris Arreola if they fought as Haye is too fast and strong, in fact I think that Haye has a good chance of beating anybody in the division except Vitali.

david haye will not defeat either klitschko brother. not in the same leage.

  • dan says:

wlad may have the weaker chin…but he is the much better boxer. there is a chance haye could do what he did to valuev to vitali…but he could never knock him out. there is a chance that haye could knock out wlad…but he could never outbox him. either way the klitschkos are much heavier favourites than valuev…but still i want to see those fights…& i can see how it could go either way. happy days for the hw’s.

god i hope haye beats ruiz…if that fat b*stard ruins it…

  • hasbeen says:

I hope that they make the fight between Haye and Vitali by early next year. If Haye wins we have a new kid on the block, if he is defeated he wont be the first man to taste defeat at the hands of VK. It should be a good fight while it last, may the best man win.

  • mark says:

I think haye showed he has huge power in either hand at the end of the fight. And he has good speed. I didn’t think he would beat vitali, now I’d give him a good chance against him.

He has one punch knockout power, and wobbled a man that nobody else has come close to putting down.

Sorry I ever doubted the boy.

  • Eagor says:

Haye will loose to both Klitshckos period!!!!!!!!!
Valuev is very awkward and slow boxer.

  • Da Contender says:

At the end of the day Haye rocked valuev and NOBODY in 50 fights has managed to get him in that state, he did it with a broken right hand, which is his trademark ‘hayemaker’ and as is well publicised, a foot shorter and 7 stones lighter, give the Lad credit, he did what he had to do and slayed the giant, AT LAST WE HAVE AN EXCITING HW champion who actually LOOKS like he wants to fight and at 29 is relitavely young to hang around for a few years. BRITAIN HAS A HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP AGAIN LETS GET BEHIND HIM (no homo, lol)

  • Matt, England says:

Well done for a good article and taken the criticism on board of the last one.

I and most people agreed with everything you said in this good piece of writing. After haye knock out ruiz he should fight vlad first, it will be tough, but slightly easier than vitali. I think haye believed he is ready to fight anyone as he is a very confident boxer, however I would like to see him fight vlad 1st to tee himself up for vitali.

Haye has a better chance of winning against vlad than vitali for sure. Vitali is the hardest fight but by no mean haye cannot win it. With his speed, power and skills haye can beat them both.

malik does you wife know what round because ill put £100 on it!!!lol

  • bazza81 says:

    Good article Dennis!
Until the twelfth round and that left hand which wobbled a fighter who had never been down and to my knowledge never hurt, I would have agreed with you in regards to Vitalis iron chin.
Now I find myself disagreeing and honestly believe that with the power Haye possesses he will be able to knock out Vitali.

  • malik says:

And i just asked my wife if she thinks Haye will beat Klitschkos, the time now is 22:34 in hannover germany, and these are the exact words she used “yes he will”.Why? i asked, and she said “because he is clever and thinks and acts fast, plus the fact that he got a big punch”….those are words from my wife.Believe me,she knows what she is talking about.

  • malik says:

What are people talking about?Haye fought like a real pro yesterday and with alot of discipline.I don`t see any of klitschko brothers getting a Ko against Valuev. Now, i can tell you all this, that Haye got a very big punch!!,only a guy as big as valuev can stand on his feet after taking a heavy Hayes punch. His speed and ability to drop as many as three punches at a time will drop wladimir flat!!.Vitaly will lose to Haye by point count. That boy is too fast and smart…did i even mention his accuracy?Valuev threw more punches, but Haye threw less but nearly all hit target…..thats what boxing is all about fellas.Something new and exciting is about to happen to Heavyweight boxing….lets just sit and enjoy Haye-time.

  • Fehr says:

I personaly don’t see Haye beating any of the Klitschko brothers! For what I saw last night Haye lack’s “Heart”

  • don@london says:

Well done Dennis, a real breath of fresh air when we’ve been suffering Scott Gilfoids anti-british ramblings for so long, could’nt agree more with this article!

  • perko says:

haye needs to dodge vitali if he wants to remain champion , odds for this fight would be vitali klitschko 1/5 , david haye 7/2. vatali a lot more seasoned fighter at this stage of their careers.

  • nick says:

good article well thought out with good boxing knowledge can’t dissagree with anything you say

  • deggy92 says:

good article mate, i like it…haye cant fight the same way agains the klits but i dont think that he would anyway. If and when haye eventually fights them, he will be taking a lot more shots that he did in this fight as they are great boxers. again, as with the valuev fight, i dont know who the winner would be as haye has so little experience in the heavyweights, but judging from last night, haye certainly has the speed and power to trouble absolutely any heavyweight out there.

  • ALAN BOSWORTH says:

haye is naturaly growing into the heavyweghts and with the movement, boxing skils, and exsplosive power, he as a chance with anyone.we all no the klitschkos are a force but haye is young and hungry and learned from is only loss and showed wot he can do against a giant of a man in valuev.so haye as a good chance against either.is getting better with each fight.ruiz next who can take a shot, and he will have to cus haye will go bak to being a gun slinger and take ruiz out.great for heavyweght boxing

  • Interesting. Last night went down pretty much how I expected it would. Haye looked very skittish.

Valuev is a lumbering giant. He has power but lacks finesse and technical refinement.

Re: Haye vs. Klitschkos, I’d like to see him fight Wladimir. Klitschko is pretty crafty.

  • mark f says:

I agree with zee zee, Valuev isnt great BUT he is awkward for any fighter and if Haye hadnt fought the way he did he would have found himself getting tired out by Valuev leaning, holding and elbowing him like he did with his first fight with Ruiz, plus Haye can definatly knock out Wladmir but Vitali is a different kettle of fish

  • madman says:

i think hayes got a punchers chance against both. like you said more likly to ko vlad. haye’s got good head and foot movement so he mite be able to slip his jab. haye would have to dodge and weave and make vlad miss then counter with right hooks to KO him. but if vlad catches him he’s out!!!
he may be able to dance and weave round an aging vatali and wear him down to ko him late on. rounds 10 or 11 but i coudnt see it happenning.

  • Ging says:

really good article. Completely agree on all points. Wladimir is very suspect and only one of the those punches last night would KO him – all doubters please refer to his losses.
Vitali is an entirely different proposition however. He possess all of his brothers strengths and none of the weaknesses. I suspect he will protect his brother and nominate himself to fight Haye.

  • zee zee says:

    VALEAV IS rubbish. – period

haye can knockout Wladamir and will. -period

VITALI KLITCHKO is so called the ukrainian lennox lewis, haye to get knocked out by vitali.

Wladamir is a very boring fighter, where as VITALI, is great.
supreme chin, ring smart, quick hands, extreme power, and puts up a decent boxing show. – period

  • Anonymous says:

haye punches from funny angles and has big power and speed and any fighter ho noes his trade would tell you punches you don’t see coming are the ones that knock you out so haye always has a chance nobody fort he would win this one but he did

  • Anonymous says:

steer clear of vitali, your not gonna hit him any harder than big lennox did

  • RICH, ENGLAND says:

also dennis, its great the way you have taken the criticism and also great that you have taken the readers comments on board and haven’t resorted to deleting and banning, keep it up

  • Andy says:

The only way haye will beat either of the kltschkos is if he stops his stupid dancing and stops the whole hands by sides thing.

  • RICH, ENGLAND says:

credit where its due dennis, this is a great article. that last article is what i expected scott gilfoid to post after the fight, i was even going to predict it on his last article but the silly boy has blacklisted me because he can’t handle criticism

  • JD says:

I can’t see Haye getting past Wlad’s jab. Unlike Valuev’s, Wlad’s jab is a potent offensive weapon and he is fast and accurate with it.

  • UKanSodOff says:

Haye had to fight that way last night, he couldnt afford to be caught under Valuevs weight and his reach was at such a disadvantage he couldnt box Valuev off him.

The Klitchkos are big but not to that extent and Haye will be able to box more from a closer range. Clearly Haye was able to wobble Valuev with a left, if he can do that with a left i have no doubt he could hurt either brother with a harder right.

The Klitchkos are different and much better than Valuev and beating them is clearly a tough ask for any heavyweight including Haye. But hes proven hes equiped for the job. Only question remaining for me is his chin. Valuev never got chance to test it.

  • Tim says:

    Dennis,

As I mentioned in your last article most pieces you write are well thought out and based on facts (although I didn’t agree with the last one) and this one is no exception.

I really think Haye would take Wlad out but as you mention Vitali has a monster chin! However if Haye can make him miss he could tire…

  • Darren says:

    All props to David.

Valuev is an example of someone who has the tools of the trade, but not the heart to use them. All things being equal Valuev could have made it a better fight. I think he’s too complacent a fighter. Agaisnt the Klitscho brothers it will be a different story though. They are better in terms of ability, and have reach, weight and height advantages.

That being said, Haye can bang, and has loads of heart. Sometimes that’s all you need. But all things being equal, the Klitz are favourites for me.

    Good luck David.

    You’ve done England proud!!

  • Dennis Broadhurst says:

Sorry readers for my last article, it was pathetic. I hope this one was up to standard.

  • John says:

I think it wasn’t boxing fight, it was dancing and being timidity to fight. Haye was afraid of punch however Valuev was afraid of missing punches. As for me anyone of Klitschko’s brother will win the fight if that match ever happen.

  • RICH, ENGLAND says:

much better than that last article dennis and i agree with it all. seriously dennis i dont know how you brought yourself to post that last article after youve posted some decent stuff.

  • Andrew says:

Haye’s victory over Valuev says NOTHING about his ability to beat one of the Klitschko’s.

Valuev was much bigger but he is a very basic boxer and is very slow , with weakish power.
The Klitschko’s are much bigger , with excellent boxing skills and devastating power.

Vitali Klitschko would be a complete mismatch for David Haye and as far as finding Wladimir Klitschkos chin – Good luck with that !!

  • Leftie says:

    Yes. Absolutely.

  • Mike says:

Agreed much better than the previous article. I think all brits want him to take on wlad and haye would most definately be trading in that fight. I agree haye would struggle against vitali but anything can happen in boxing.

  • Mikey says:

    Good article,

Personally I think Haye’s power would generate well and he would land on Vitali easily (and Wlad even easier). The thing I notice about the Klitchsko’s is that NEITHER of them throw hooks and rarely ever throw to the body.

They have a predictable if not VERY effective jab-jab-straight combo that they use. This an be exposed easily by someone like Haye.

Good luck to David though, it’s nice to see the Heavyweight division looking a little more exciting now!
