Pacquiao vs. Cotto: Will Miguel defeat Manny?

By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao is thinking he’s going to be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. sometime next year, but I think World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto may end up giving Pacquiao a bad beating and mess up his chance for a mega fight with Mayweather. Cotto, 28, will be facing Pacquiao on November 14th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao and Cotto will be fighting with Miguel’s WBO welterweight title on the line at a 145 pound catch weight.
Pacquiao has been beating up weight drained fighter like Oscar De La Hoya and nearly defenseless ones like Ricky Hatton. Now Pacquiao is facing a real threat and he’s going to have a real mess on his hands on November 14th, and I can’t wait to see Pacquiao getting beaten up.
That rightfully be Cotto’s fight, but I know that Mayweather will probably still fight Pacquiao anyway, leaving Cotto, the victor, to have to scrape up whatever he can put together as far big money fights go.
Cotto needs to throw to the sides to make sure he doesn’t knock the air out of Pacquiao’s tiny body.
You can’t have the fight ending early from a body shot. I can just see the excuses that will role in on that one. ‘Ah, I was blinded by flash from a camera and, ah, didn’t see Cotto throwing to my stomach area.’ Next, after working over Pacquiao’s midsection, Cotto needs to go for the face. He’s got to hit him but no too hard.

Very interestingand narrow perspective on the match outcome.
I have respect for Cotto, but he struggled hugely in his last match – it was not a very inspiring match.
When we examine the the current credentials and boxing abilities of Manny, I have difficulty drawing a conclusion, or agreeing with Perez, that it will be a one-sided affair on Cotto’s behalf.
I do sense that many so called critics doubt Manny’s strengths and status as a boxer. However, when we make a list of the fighters he has defeated with style, speed and ferocity, no critic can silence the deafening achievements that have lead Manny to this point in his stunning boxing career!

I like both fighters, I anticipate a good fight. I agree that both men are sportsmen. A split decision may happen especially in Las Vegas where a Phillipino crowd will out weigh a Cotto following. However, Cotto is an experienced fighter that has shown vulnerability in the past, but I think that many underestimate his ability to be a boxer and not just a brawler. Then, I could be wrong, one punch in this match up could change the outcome. I think we are all in for a treat.

Pacquiao doesn’t get any respect from the critics for scoring big time wins from Diaz, DelaHoya and Hatton, they’re not shut or washed out fighters. He deserves the accolades for a job well done, making great fighters look ordinary, but if he doesn’t amend his ways in training, he will be in for the shock of his life. I just find it ridiculous rehearsing for an after party… Manny, you’re a boxer and forget about about politics and showbiz for now, there is a time for everything and right now the time for you is boxing!
