News – Roach want automatic DQ for low blows from Cotto!

By Liam Santiago: Legendary boxing trainer, Freddie Roach claims he will insist that any low blows Manny Pacquiao might receive from Miguel Cotto, accidental or not, will result in automatic disqualification. Roach is due to attend a ‘rules meeting’, where he is adamant the rule will be enforced whether Cotto likes it or not. Roach also has some complaints about the choice of referees for the bout.
When Pacquiao meets the Puerto Rican warrior on November 14th, millions of people will be watching. This is the biggest fight of the year. The build up has been staggering, and even slightly drawn out. So, are we really going to see a DQ result. I might not even bother tuning in, considering I have to pay a good whack to watch it. In a massive money fight such as this, you don’t look for a DQ win.
It seems to me that the Pac-Man camp are regretting agreeing to fight Cotto. Firstly, they demand the Puerto Rican puts his title on the line, even though Pacquiao’s weight demands mean Cotto can not weigh in at his usual weight. At that time, Roach said that if Cotto would not put his belt on the line, they ”don’t need this fight”. Now they are looking to claim victory by Cotto being DQ’d for a low blow.
I just hope that if Cotto is winning the fight that the referee doesn’t shockingly DQ him for the slightest of shots that might of been low. It sounds like a great get out plan.

Guys,no matter what you say,i’m sure there’s only one man last standing that night and that is MANNY PACQUIAO…still the pound 4 pound king and new WBC and Diamond belt welterweight champion of the world.just like he destroy De la Hoya and Hatton….I’m looking forward now for Unification fight between Pacman(WBO) and Mosley (WBA)instead of Mayweather.I thinks is more interestin and Pacquia wins again,that will be his 9th world title and soon he can jump to light middleweight title againts Chavez…AWESOME dudes!!!!!

Psych war. This is Roach’s indirect admittance that Pac needs all the help he can get to stand a chance against Cotto. This trainer is a future hall of famer? No shame at all.
I agree with Roach that the Marquis of Queensburry rules of boxing should be changed just for Manny Pacquiao. An automatic DQ should be give to Cotto if there is even an accidental low blow. This new rule however should not apply to Manny Pacquiao if Pac low blows Cotto because…. well just because.
Roach is starting to sound a little scared.
mannys been hitting his balls with a stick in case cotto uses his dirty tactic, no matter what cotto does, manny will knock him out cold. roach just want to make sure that this will be a clean fight.

Roach needs to just shut up, stop whining like a school girl and focus on training pacquiao. Honestly the more crap I hear coming out of roach’s mouth the more I am sure cotto is going to win. Roach sounds like a man getting all his excuses ready.
Not a pacman fan,but Cotto is known for throwing mutiple low blows.Just watch his fights,and if he doesn’t hit Judah with 3-4 low blows,I think Judah would have won the fight.Low blows take alot out of a fighter,especially if he’s fighting someone who loves to go to the body.

the build up for this fight is really putting me off of roach and pacquiao.
Hopefully thiS will be the fight of the DECADE between two great warriors. I think both men would wana take victory the fair way. Im a big cotto fan but pacman speed is a major weapon. I think Nov 14th will be a nite to remember for all the boxing fans around the world.

I agree these issues that Roach is bringing up are nonsense. Perhaps Mr. Roach sees the writing on the wall and is grasping at anything that may help his fighter. God only knows Manny is going to need all the help he can get come November 14th.

You’ve added the word “accidental” to this news which first surfaced about 5 or 6 hours ago.
At no point did Roach, or anyone from the media suggest that he wanted the fight stopped after a low blow, accidental or not. Read the articles properly and dont add your own juice before you copy them.
What Roach was referring to was Cotto’s instinct to go dirty when things dont go his way, he had very similar warnings at the rules meeting against Hatton, didnt mean he wanted out though. For the record im predicting Cotto to win, but this business about Roach is wildly out of context!
