Khan: I’m a better champion than ‘Jeolous’ Carl Froch – News

By Liam Santiago: Amir Khan is still hitting back at his critic and fellow world champion Carl Froch, in an interview on radio five live. Khan said, ”I know for a fact I’m a better world champion than Froch. I always get dissed by Froch, that’s just jealousy I think. He hasn’t got the recognition I have got and the things I got. Where was he when he was 22? What I have done in this game, no 22 year old has done.”
Steve Bunce went on to state that Khan’s defence against Salita is a great test for the Bolton man. He said, ”Salita is better than the first defence opponents Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton fought. The difference is Khan is under a microscope, the were not. Joe Calzaghe’s first defence was against a guy called Bronko Sobat, nobody cared about it, hardly any tickets sold. However, is Salita a top 10 guy? No. Is he a top 20 guy? No. And that is also part of the problem.”
Buncey is right. In comparison to Joe Calzaghe, Khan is a fearless warrior. In 46 bouts Calzaghe had about 3 big fights that meant anything. Why not direct the abuse at him. Khan is 22 and hopefully, the bigger nights are not far away. However, back to Froch.
Is Khan a ”better world champion” than Froch. Not really. Froch is the World Boxing Council champion, probably the most highly regarded title, and he has defeated Jean Pascal, finished of Jermain Taylor and edged a points win over the highly talented Andre Dirrell (I had Froch up by one round). However, Khan is not a ‘paper’ champion. His WBA title is also highly regarded and he made a very good fighter (Kotelnik) look very average.

Froch hates Khan for one reason. Amir was made a shed load of money (a lot of it from outside of boxing aswell). While Froch is bitter and wants the Khan lifestyle.
PS – Ricky hatton is a great fighter. If Khan wins his next fight i think he should go for Hatton. Will be a good fight. He’s a better fighter than Froch that’s for sure, and you who disagree don’t know anything. Has speed with both hands and feet, good boxing skills, good defence. Froch is the exact opposite as he showed against Dirrel. Froch can’t sell tickets, is crap to watch and aint good technicaly. He only won against Taylor because Taylor run out of gas, and Dirrel got robbed. Kessler will murder Froch, and so would Calzaghe and Hopkins. Froch is another Witter.

Froch is the biggest joke in british boxing, he is a plain tramp!
Look Khan has done well, very well for a 22 year old but theres still huge questions and he has a long way to go, but credit to him.
But he talks like hes done something pure amazing. He didnt face the best Lightweights and he aint faced the best Light Welters.
The thing is, hes showing off big shiny belt for us all to be amazed at but we are acually looking at who hes faced and beaten. And they certainly dont both add up to the same impressive reading he thinks it does.
How does Khan get us to be more impressed? Improve his record, thats all he has to do. He gets in the ring with and beats the likes of Bradley, Torres and the rest and we will be suitably impressed.
HOnestly guys, he’s only 22. He’s gonna improve. The only reason everyone’s making such a fuss is cause he’s young and Asian. No other British fighter gets such hate from his own country. Leave the guy alone. If you can’t stomach someone’s success that’s your problem – Doesn’t make khan any less of a fighter

Just to clarify Froch turned pro at the age of 25 after going to university. It’s therefore unsurprising that he wasn’t world champion at the age of 22.
I’m not hating on Amir Khan by the way i’m actually a fan of his.
Note to boxking – Froch’s next two fights are Kessler and Abraham – there’s a chance he wont fight Ward. Furthermore, you question whether Froch beat pascal – even pascal admitted he lost!
