Cotto doesn’t care if Mayweather Fights Pacquiao after he Beats Manny – News

By Manuel Perez: World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto made it clear that he doesn’t care one bit if Floyd Mayweather decides to fight Manny Pacquiao instead of him after he [Cotto] gets through beating Pacquiao next month. “If Team Mayweather and Team Pacquiao want to fight, I don’t give a crap what they do after I defeat Manny,” Cotto said in an interview with El Nuevodia.
Even if Pacquiao is badly beaten by Cotto, the Mayweather fight still makes the most sense for Pacquiao. After big money fights against Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Cotto, Pacquiao won’t want to have to take on a lesser fighter where he would make much less money.
Although it would be a idea for Pacquiao to fight a tune-up if he loses to Cotto, the pressure on Pacquiao to maximize the money he makes will probably be too great for him to waste time on a tune-up. Pacquiao will then jump straight from a loss into a fight against Mayweather, which as many people expect, will be another big loss for Pacquiao.
It’s all good, though, because Pacquiao can cry all the way to the bank. It would be sad that boxing fans would prefer to see Mayweather fight Pacquiao rather than Cotto if Pacquiao loses badly to Cotto next month on November 14th.
But that shows you how much the boxing fans really know about the sport. Probably a good deal of them won’t even realize that Pacquiao has lost to Cotto, and the other half – read: Pacquiao’s lovesick fans – won’t care one bit that Pacquiao was beaten. They’ll back him up no matter what happens in the Cotto fight. They’re fans and they would come see Pacquiao fight even if he were beaten 100 times in a row.
Cotto may end up fighting Pacquiao again immediately if the fight does extremely well. Arranging a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao won’t be an easy task because Mayweather wants more money. Cotto, depending on how badly he does against Pacquiao, could want more money than last time, but probably not nearly as much as Mayweather would be asking for.
It’s a fight that makes sense if a Mayweather bout is too difficult to put together. Mayweather will still be there after Cotto fights Pacquiao for a second time. By then, Mayweather will possibly be more agreeable to a fight with a reasonable purse split between him and Pacquiao.

Mayweather’s avoided Cotto for the past 4 years….there’s no way he’s facing Cotto if he puts away Pacquiao…but no worries…that won’t happen…BTW…mark my words…Mayweather will only fight the loser of this fight…..easier to negotiate, would show vulnerability, better chance of winning…all things Mayweather loves. To be honest with you, If Cotto does beat Pacquiao I would rather see Cotto vs Mayweather. I would like to see Floyd fight a true welterweight instead of a blown-up lightweight or jr. welterweight. I for one am already sick and tired of catchweight fights. I would like to see Pacquia drop back to 140 lbs. after this fight win or lose. It would be exciting for him to attempt to unify the jr welterweight division.

Saying that pacman Speed will be too much for Cotto is simply dumb because his speed is going to be too much for any fighter out there, that doesn’t mean he’s not beatable, The only time Speed is a problem to a fighter is when you can’t make adjustments for it and I think COtto have shown in the past he can!

The only way Cotto can beat Pacquiao is if Pacman becomes careless and over confident and get caught off guard. Cotto will not outsmart Pacquiao in the ring. Pacman is too quick, too mobile and has too much stamina for Cotto. And don’t forget that Castillo who fought Mayweather Jr. twice just admitted that Pacquiao is quicker and stronger than PBF. Something to think about… Finally, in my humble opinion, the only true elite fighter that Cotto has faced is Mosley who, in his own admission, was ill prepared for the Cotto fight by his father, and underestimated the Puerto Rican boxer capacity to “box”.

Cotto can maximize on this fight if he fights dirty. That’s what’s expected from Cotto. This way, he might have a chance of winning it.
Pacquiao Cotto fight should have similarities to the Zab Judah vs Cotto’s, where Zab was giving Cotto a hardtime then Cotto get frustrated and targets Zab’s CO-JONES, twice. It shouldn’t be a surprise if Cotto is actually, right now, as we speak, is training to perfect moves to hitting Manny’s giant balls.
This way, Cotto can slow Manny down and apply his LIVER PUNCH for the kill. Manny should wear a cap during the fight, don’t know if they allow that, but this is one of Cotto’s deadly arsenals and only gets a 1 point deduction per punch on the balls. Cotto does maybe 3-4 per fight – watch all his fight on YOU TUBE and examine it closely.

While I see myself also that Cotto is a supertest for Pacquiao, Pac being a natural welterweight and Cotto can paralyze you with a jab and has a killer left hand, I think Pacquiao would be ready for whatever Cotto would offer and present on the table. Pacquiao has feared sparring partners, bigger, maybe stronger and have Cotto’s moves. While Cotto is indeed a great fighter, defeated Mosley also, his patsy sparring partners in my opinion would not really prepare him in a war with Manny. I am leaning for Pac win because of the caliber of their sparring partners. Pacquiao already has seen the test questions but for Cotto, I think he will be a little bit shocked. One solid shot landed flush by Cotto could change the complexion of the fight though. We will just wait, we are not seers.

To say that either fighter has no chance is just being a fan boy of one fighter or the other.
The fact is this fight is pretty close. If Cotto lands a good shot to the ribs he might slow Manny down enough to punish him. Manny doesn’t punch any harder than the guys he has already faced. Yes he is faster and his lateral movement will cause problems but Cotto has a chance to win.
