Boxing News – Ricky Hatton eyeing come back after Christmas or New Year

By Amar Jahangir: In The Hitman’s latest interview, he revealed a possible time frame to come back will be after Christmas or possible the New Year. What I liked about this interview is that he doesn’t want to come back and fight easy fighters like a certain Mayweather did. He doesn’t want a tune up fight but he wants to go in and fight the best. He said if the chance came to fight Mayweather again he would say yes right away. He adds that he feel s that he himself did not have a good fight against him due to the referee.
Marquez recently said he is going to try his luck at 140, I think this is the perfect fight for Hatton. If he can get a win here which before anyone jumps on me will be a very tough fight, then I think Hatton only needs to take out one more top fighter to get another shot at The Pacman. Anyway whatever happens, I hope Hatton comes back. The Welterweight division has been pretty boring of late with the exception of the pound for pound best. Hatton certainly does not cherry pick his fighters and only goes for the best available.

Blood, guts and brawling. A true warrior. Fights only the toughest, and like a true gladiator, he only goes out on his shield. Not just a world champion, but the peoples champion.
I only hope he returns to the ring if he still has the fire and the abilities to be the best. After 45 wins and 2 losses only Ricky knows. The guy can’t really give us much more than he has already.

that is the problem with over protection of fighters there sense of reality gets warped hatton always fought in england and probaly enjoyed a lot af faveratism at home and when he fights away from home the he loses and blames the ref kinda like frock gets a gift from his home town gudges and instead of staying low kew as to his performance he brags as if he had performed at a high level.
lets see-he was dominated and knocked cold by a fighter that many say shouldnt be in the ring with cotto. sure, he deserves a high profile fight. remember what i keep saying. stop paying for mismatches!

ricky if you are reading this consider marquez!! he got moves but less power. You are much powerful and will beat him! But don’t just jump on him cover up and when you are near enough, go for the body. I believe you will win! Go for it!
easy return fight like a certain mayweather did?is the writer high? he beat the number 2 p4p the only problem was we wernt sure if marquez culd move up that much in weight,hes still one of the most skilled fighters out there,look at mayweather resume and then hatton and tell me whos had the easier fights.
Ugh… poor guy. If he comes back I hope he does it at a steady pace and LISTENS to his trainer. I like him a lot, even though I’m not British.

I take that back…Marquez OR Baby Bull Diaz at Wembley! Both those fights Hatton has a great shot at winning.
I think if Ricky were to fight again he would need a tune up fight.It only makes sense.I don’t see pacman or Mayweather giving him a rematch.Well maybe Mayweather if the fight were in England and he got 70/30 on the ppv buys. Let me throw this out their Teddy Atlas as his trainer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I’d be interested to see if Freddie roach could turn hatton around by taking him under his wing. Hatton doing 140 rounds of pre fight sparring with pacquiao and knan before a big contest as Pac does – that would be interesting. Sure, as we learnt with mayweather snr, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but hatton has so many yes men around him, I wonder how tough his sparring is. That’s why hatton gets so tense and loses his head before a fight (I reckon). He hasn’t had any sparring wars leading up to the contest and so lacks the punch resistance and mental strength. There’s no way hatton could have taken the beating de la hoya took against Pac. but dlh had sparred in the weeks leading up to the contest with Shane mosley. Dehydration aside, that’s got to toughen you up.

he could very well beat mayweather, he showed promise in the early rounds of their fight but lost his head and started lunging. Marquez would beat him and i think a rematch with pacman would be stupid. But I really hope to see hatton back in the ring.
hatton is well and truly past it. He cant take a punch anymore full stop. He would struggle against your gran.
but he did have a great career and fell short against the best but theres no shame in that.
Cant wait to see Ricky fight again, i do believe he will need a tune up fight before taking on Mayweather Junior. Go for Khan and show us all how awfull he really is. Or go for Marquez now that will be a great fight

Fight Marquez…that’s his only shot…Pacquiao and FMJ are light years ahead of Hatton and Marquez looked painfully slow at 142.

Hatton is a shot fighter….. Have you seen him recently, looks like a f**king whale!! Not seen him look that big before!! if he thinks he can come straight back he must be stupid. Mayweather, Marquez,Bradley would totally dominate him and win via a K.O!! He was just a good figther nothing else! And this showed against Mayweather and Pac Man.
ricky cant hang with the two 140-147 pounders, he has lost to the two pound 4 pounds,
only fight thast makes sence would be hatton vs marquez or hatton vs bradley, or maybe even against campbell.

He wont even fight amir khan for christ sake or junior witter. If he does come back he will fight a bum or a smaller man with no power end of story
