Pacquiao offered to fight Khan before Cotto deal

pacquiao4532449By Liam Santiago: According to promoter, Bob Arum, the Pacquiao camp offered Amir Khan the chance to fight Manny Pacquiao before the Miguel Cotto deal was signed. Arum told the Daily Telegraph that the offer was on the table for Khan but he turned it down. Khan now looks set to fight Dimitry Salita as Pacquiao will face Cotto on November 14th.

Arum said. ”before we had signed with Cotto, Amir’s name was on the table, we offered him the fight, but his father and his family felt it was too early in his career. I can defiantly see Amir and Pacquiao meeting in the ring down the line”.

This would be a mega occasion but you have to say the odds would all be in favour of Pacquiao. Khan has all the attributes of a great fighter, but the chin issue will always be there. If Khan could stand any chance of beating Pacquiao it would be on points and at some point over twelve rounds, Pacquiao would clip Khan and he would not with stand the power.

He can continue to fight the likes of Kotelnik, Salita and Barrera and produce good wins but when the times comes for him to step it up a notch, we might all get another wake up call. I see Hatton easily beating Khan, even now, so I don’t give Khan the slightest chance against Pacquiao.

Bonehead Santiago. You think Hatton would beat Mayweather and Paccy in a rematch. Who got the boxing “noledge” now you muppet!

  • Liam Santiago says:

Alister, you think Khan cud beat hatton. lol that just proves u hav no nolege

  • Alister says:

This guy is a hatton fan and you can always tell in his articles, hatton cannot follow instructions as seen in his two ko loss’s. He would lose to kahn either on a wide decision or a ko depending on how bad his chin is seeing as he was battered by pacman.

Salita is his num 1 mandatory so obviously he will fight him, people like john murray get mentioned but he isnt known outside of this country and he wouldnt be accepted as a opponent for kahns belt.

Andy you must have no clue about fighters before the last 18 months if you think pacman is the greatest, just to name a few – ali, duran, leonard, robinson even lewis, calzaghe etc are better.

I have found that aswell, almost every single article is negative towards Khan…why??? I do not care what people say.. but its about race (I hate it when people play the race card) but its true with Khan.. I went to Manchester once to see him fight… boy were the lobster faced (red) very very right wing individuals (some security staff aswell within the M.E.N areana itself) were chanting very racist chants basically toward the Khan and the asian crowd! if thats no racist, I don’t what is???!

  • Liam Santiago says:

Andy. Come on man Does beating them 3 fighters plus Hatton and ODLH really means he would be the greatest? Better than Robinson, Duran and Marciano?

Khan khan khan, in real life not the bubble that frank keeps you in you would have to have a fight with a real fighter that can punch, as we all KNOW you CANT take a real punch (Prescot) so you will carry on living in this bubble till frank can no longer keep making money off you, and as soon as your forced to fight a real fighter that can punch and you loose terribly AGAIN then frank will drop you and move on to his next boxing victim, Frank is a frod and is making boxing a joke, he does not care about great or even good fights he only cares about the money, and yes boxing may be a business but please try and remember that it is a sport first!!!

  • G-man says:

    If it’s true-Ridiculous!

  • zee zee says:

when khan is 28 he will be instoppable,

furiuos combination of punches over 12 rounds,
and with that khan can easyliy produce a tko over his opponenets.

  • BOKSING PHAN says:

pacman would no doubt beat khan as of now but thats only due to experience and because he is at the peak of his game. Khan at his prime in a few years n then no doubt it would be khan kicking the arse. The one thing khan has plenty of along with his talent n skills is TIME. ;-)

  • GOLD says:

Roach has gone on record saying he would not let them fight; this is a red herring, its gamesmanship plus this the second time this something like this has come up…What is true is that Khan will fight Vlad on Dec 5 and Pac Man will fight Lewis next summer at Wembley…

  • HenryL says:

I don’t think Khan would wanna mess with Pacman. He was dropped to the floor by Pacman during one of their sparring sessions.

  • WTF says:

They both get trained by Roach, and are sparring partners, this site I now realise is full of CRAP

  • jonathan says:

true khan is too young he needs more fights and experience, but he does deserve a chance at redemption.
