News – Roach has Four Solid Sparring Partners for Pacquiao

By Eric Thomas: Trainer Freddie Roach has already picked out four solid sparring partners for Manny Pacquiao to train with as Manny gets ready for his November 14th bout against Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to Michael Marley, Roach will have the following sparring partners for Pacquiao: Ray Serrano, Urbano Antillon, David Revello and Shawn Porter.
Antillon and Porter are especially impressive fighters with a lot power, and in the case of Porter, a lot of speed. One fighter that won’t be sparring with Pacquiao is former World Boxing Council lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo, who Roach had this to say about him: “Why would I use him [Castillo], he is shot. I can’t use a shot guy to get Manny ready for Cotto. I keep saying it but I will say it again, anyone who thinks Cotto is easy and is not dangerous is a complete fool.”
The training, of course, will be taking place in the city of Baguio, in the Philippines, per Pacquiao’s request. Roach reportedly has accepted Pacquiao’s preference for training there. Roach will be happy with the training situation as long as Pacquiao stays focused on the training and doesn’t let his outside interests creep in and distract Pacquiao.

wat u mean marquez won his 1st fight with pacquiao? pacquiao busted or broke his left hand in the first round of their 1st bout. thats why he stop punching from left. on their 2nd fight he struggled too lose weight but he still k/o marquez. marquez is done and desperate. cotto is good but if he get hit a lot he will lose by points.

What father and son crap are you talking about? If they have that relationship then they should still be close even outside the training camp. They’re good only during training. After training Roach is nothing to Manny. Manny’s back to his real “family”… Koncz and Gacal. Can’t you see it? Manny needs to be close to Roach because he needs something. After he gets what he needs then he dispatch of Roach. While Koncz and Gacal doesn’t contribute anything to Manny but still he’s close to them. Why? Because he considers them family.

Its one of the most exciting fights in a long time
Pac proved he can move up in weight and be effective. He is basically the same fighter but with an improved right hook and more weight to back up his punching power. Kept his speed and power = DANGER. I’m both guys fan but more a Cotto fan but i refuse to be biased against Pac. What i love about this fight is that no matter what anyone says about either boxer, come fight night they will be nervous cause anything can happen NOV. 14!
Oh and little, by little you mean Cotto being 0.5 inches taller than Pac. And forget about the reach advantage coz Pac’s got freaky long arms to match those of Cotto’s. The only difference would be weight dude. Judging by your comment, you don’t even have a valid reason to bet on Cotto, douche! Leave the predictions and analysis to the real fight fans noobie. You seem to not like Pac at all…you can argue that Pac lost twice to Marquez, Cotto’s the bigger and strong guy on fight night, but don’t let your personal feelings get in the way. Man you must’ve lost cash putting your money on Hatton and DLH. Real fight fans knew the outcome against the shot “bigger and stronger” Hatton and DLH were.
It has been said that Pacquiao’s key strength is the explosive power in his legs which has him jump in and out of range so quickly and frequently
No need for him to spend too much time sparing strong guys.
The bottom line is that if Cotto is able to hit Pacquiao he will get stopped regardless of who he has sparred.
Pacquiao wins if he can use his speed to avoid being hit, Cotto wins if he can find a way to land shots
