Marquez thinks Mayweather will Easily Beat Pacquiao

By Manuel Perez: Well, it appears that I’m not the only who thinks that Manny Pacquiao is going to have his backside handed to him when he eventually fights Floyd Mayweather Jr. I’m now hearing the latest boxing news that the great Juan Manuel Marquez also sees Mayweather as beating Pacquiao, and beating easily.
This is a fight that Pacquiao needs to end his career, like his trainer Freddie Roach has been talking about. How can Pacquiao continue after he receives the beating of his life against Mayweather? This is going to be a wonder slaughter. I don’t wish for Pacquiao to be destroyed, but it will be an interesting fight because of Mayweather’s boxing talent and speed.
The natural outcome, though, will be a battered, bleeding Pacquiao trying to pick himself up off the canvas while the referee motions for the ringside doctor to bring in the stretcher. I’m sure that Pacquiao will fight his heart out in this fight, but in the end, Mayweather will have too much speed, quickness and size for the Filipino to deal with and will knock Pacquiao out in the 6th or 7th rounds.
Why won’t Pacquiao last as long as Juan Manuel Marquez, you might ask? Well, I think Marquez is a much better fighter, a lot tougher, with a better chin a bigger heart than Pacquiao. This is why Pacquiao will be knocked out around the midpoint of the fight. The good thing is I’m sure Pacquiao will go down swinging, albeit wildly before he hits the canvas for the final time.
I think this is going to be a three or four knockdown affair with Mayweather dropping Pacquiao in various parts of the ring as if he’s delivering newspapers. Pacquiao is probably going to look a little silly by the time this fight is over, but at least it’ll be entertaining.
People say that Mayweather doesn’t give boxing fans their monies worth. Well, believe me, this fight is going to be worth every last penny for the fans and I’m on it as soon as they announce the fight. I’ll be there at ringside with my camera and press cap ready for this one.
I half expect that Roach will try to convince Pacquiao to pack it in after the second knockdown when he sees that the fight is a lost cause. He might as well say that after the 1st round because Pacquiao is going to have Mayweather’s gloves tattooed to his face by that time. But Pacquiao will shake his head at Roach, and probably say “I…ah…want to keep…ah…fighting.”
Roach will have no other choice but to let the horrendous mismatch continue. After the 3rd or the 4th knockdown, the referee will likely just stop the fight out of mercy for Pacquiao while Roach rushes in to tend to his fallen fighter, cradling his head like a baby while the stretcher is brought into the ring to take Pacquiao away.

Pac is going to get smashed. taking nothing away from him. You can’t take anything away from a 7 division champ. But all the people he’s fought lately have been people that Floyd already dealt with ( De La Hoya )or knocked out ( Hatton ). And lets be real Cotto wasn’t the same after he got destroyed by Margarito… Clottey well whatever. None of the people he’s fought has had the speed, defense, and tatical skills that Floyd has. ( Cotto ) but he was lacking heart. Yeah he beat Hatton in two rounds… Hatton lacked all the before mention skill and is a fighter that comes straight ahead. Yeah he beat De la Hoya who nevewr really won his big fights. Floyd at the end of the day will fight a tactical fight. What hs to be seen is can Manny be tactical with one of the best tactical fighters in the game

Here are my suggestions that you can usein case you ran out of excuses:
1. Floyd Jr’s retirement lessened his boxing effectiveness making him only half the true champion that he was before.
2. At his age, he (Floyd Jr.) is already a shot boxer.
3. The catchweight of 147 pounds drained Mayweather. They should fight at 154.
4. I can consider Pacquiao a boxer worthy of my praise if he beats Haye, Klitschko, Williams, JMM Marquez.
5. Pacquiao is on steroids.
6. 13 is unlucky number for Floyd.
7. Floyd has serious problems with the taxman and he can’t concentrate on his fight.
8. Not enought money involved.
Marquez vs Pacman was tight. Real tight. If it was not for the Marquez knock downs, Marquez would have walked away with wins.
And Marquez himself was made to look silly by Mayweather.
I swear to god that Mayweather is just too good unless Mayweather loses his focus. If he keeps the defense and countering perfect, Pacman wont win.

The scenario that Mr. Perez proposes might never happen. Pacquiao and Mayweather may never meet for several reasons: [1] Mayweather does not have a belt. Pacquiao is fighting Cotto because there is a belt involved, his 7th if he wins. Meanwhile, Mayweather needs a belt and Mosley has one, so a Mosely-Mayweather fight is more likely. If Mayweather gets by Mosley and Pacquiao defeats Cotto, then a welterweight unification fight is a possibility. But Pacquiao might want to move up to junior middleweight and challenge one of the champions there for yet another belt. If he achieves that, then I see Pacquiao retiring. At this point he has nothing else to prove in boxing. But if he should lose to anyone along the way, then I see him continuing. As the P4P King, he can almost dictate his future in boxing. So its possible Pacquiao might never fight either Mosley or Mayweather even though both would want a big bucks match with Pacquiao before either one retires.

Why do people think Manny is good news? –He really sucks.
JMM was in over his head challenging Mayweather especially at 144lbs. This was all his fault. Just because Pacquiao moved up he felt that he can do the same or better. He tried to prove he was better too fast. Instead of getting a feel for the welterweight division, he goes in the division thinking he can take out the guy who was rated #1 for such a long time. Take a look at Pacquiao. Yes, he did take on some great fighters in a higher division but he didn’t go in over his head thinking he can take out a guy who has never been defeated. Instead, he went in the division thinking he can take on some of the best and eventually make his way up to the best. You didn’t see him taking on Cotto and then Hatton. Manny’s getting a feel for the division. He wanted to know what his limits are. As for Marquez, he felt that he had no limits. He was trying too hard to prove that he can do what Pacquiao can’t. That’s his big mistake. He fell short and will always be the guy remembered as Mayweather’s comeback coolie. Marquez should’ve known that Mayweather fights nothing like Pacquiao. Did Marquez really think that he can counter Mayweather’s one punch sharpshooting?
That’s why I feel that Marquez is one of the best of the losers. He was great at counterpunching Pacquiao but wasn’t great against Mayweather because there was nothing to counter. Let’s face it. In both fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao, Marquez didn’t do any pressuring. Since Pacquiao did the pressuring, it was a fight. Since Mayweather didn’t do any, it was a dance competition.
In my opinion, his opinion of Mayweather beating Pacquiao easily is his way of trying to take the focus off of his terrible performance. He was slow and surely not strong enough. He was never known to be a strong fighter. Every shot he landed on Pacquiao was brushed off and the fight continued. He was knocked down so many times and given time to recover. We all know that the ropes saved him in their second fight. If you don’t agree with me, watch the last seconds of the third round carefully.
Marquez should just sit back and admit his defeat. True that Mayweather came in over the limit but what did you expect from Mayweather. Why do you think so many people questioned his status as p4p king? His actions are questionable, especially his elbows. Now that he came in overweight, people know what to expect from him. Now, Marquez was the guinea pig. Pacquiao will now know better what to expect. If Marquez would’ve just waited, he would’ve known what Mayweather was capable of. Instead, he rushed his way to the top.
Thanks to Marquez, Pacquiao will have a better game plan, therefore, Mayweather will not beat Pacquiao as easily as Marquez thinks. I don’t know why Marquez thinks that. I guess he doesn’t realize that Mayweather will have a hard time if his opponent actually moves around the ring and constantly throws punches.
I’m sorry to sound so negative about Marquez but this guy is out of his mind. He’s an excellent boxer but his thinking is just like Oscar De la Hoya’s. Both of them always put Pacquiao’s performances down. Maybe Marquez should put down the criticism the way Pacquiao put him down. Maybe Oscar should just quit with the whining and skepticism the way he quit in his fight against Manny. Maybe they should just say,”Hey, maybe the guy who gave us the toughest fights of our lives will be able to beat Mayweather. We weren’t able to do it and people think that we’re better than Pacquiao.”

As for the PBF fight, Manny can match Mayweather’s speed. PBF has better boxing skills than MP (no question about that) but MP will be a pressure type of fighter when they meet. That’s PBF’s weakness. Pacquiao will KO Mayweather in 8 rounds.

UFC Champion Lyoto Machida does it and so do a lot of Asian fighters. Marquez’s opinion is most likely more valid then any of ours because he has now been in the ring with both fighters. As for him getting knocked down, it’s the getting back up that makes him a champion.

It’s an interesting fight, I don’t think Pac would do a JMM, but I agree that Floyd’s a pretty slick boxer. But then again Pac has power, volume and speed to match Floyd so it’s gonna be interesting.
Pacquiao will not fight Floyd because Cotto will easily beat the undersized Pacman, leaving Pacman without the huge payday he would have gotten if he had fought Floyd instead, but with the same image-destorying beat down. Pacquiao can thank Bob Arum, who is throwing him to the lions to ensure that he has a fighter with some bragging rights in the lower-weight divisions no matter who wins, and Freddie Roach for settling for Cotto when more money was available for fighting Floyd.
I have enjoyed seeing Pacman beat up De la Hoya, Hatton, and Barrera and wins wars with Marquez and Morales. He earned his P4P ranking in Floyd’s absence. However, saying that Floyd is afraid of the little man is ridiculous.
Floyd wasn’t afraid of long-tall, knockout artist Diego Corrales, Jose Castillo (in his prime), fast but over-hyped Judah, a 154-pound-plus De la Hoya, or the wrestler Ricky Hatton. It’s amazing that all the hype about Marquez is completely gone. It’s the same thing that happened to Hatton. Now it’s rumored that they’ll be facing each other in the future. It seems that the best of the losers will be facing each other. Marquez will fight Hatton and if Oscar makes a comeback, most likely he’ll be facing Margarito.
To get back in the hype, Marquez’s only chance is to talk about Pacquiao. His pee drinking will not get him back into the spotlight. He will always be remembered as the champion who challenged another and was humiliated. At least Ricky went down swinging. Marquez spent most of his time bobbing his left hand around and getting humiliated.
Just because Marquez gave Pacquiao an excellent fight doesn’t mean that Mayweather will do the same to Pacquiao. Mayweather couldn’t do to Hatton and De la Hoya what he did to Marquez. Granted that Floyd knocked Ricky out, Floyd wasn’t winning every rounded convincingly. Against Marquez, Mayweather looked like Pacquiao against Oscar.
Pacquiao will not stand around moving his left hand and wait for Mayweather to hit him so he can counter something. That was Juan’s mistake. He was waiting for constant punches to counter. Well, he didn’t get it from Floyd, thus making him an easy target. The only time Floyd did not look confident was when he was pressured. Marquez should’ve realized that but no, since he fought Pacquiao, he thought he can hurt Mayweather. Boy was he wrong. Instead of confident, he became irritated. He didn’t know what to do. For some stupid reason, he couldn’t figure out that he needed to pressure Mayweather more. He looked like Oscar when Oscar stopped jabbing. He looked lost.
Against Pacquiao, Mayweather will not have time to pose. Mayweather was pressured by Oscar and the fight went to a decision. A slow Hatton pressured him up to the 10th round. How is it possible for Marquez to believe that Pacquiao will be beaten easily? I’ll tell you how. He wants the focus of humiliation off of him and to be on someone else. He took Oscar’s place. Ricky gave Pacquiao a better fight than the fight Marquez gave Mayweather. Honestly, which one is more memorable? Is it the fight where everyone was screaming because of the constant fighting or the one where everyone was calling their television provider and asking for a refund because it looked like one of the fighters was in slow motion? Let’s face it. Marquez feels like an idiot. Now he wants to shift the focus to Pacquiao.
By the way, I really enjoy the comment about the chin, that being Marquez’s is better than Pacquiao’s. Nice. As Mayweather said, everyone knocks down Marquez. Great chin! Just as great as this article.

As a fan,I love watching Manny fight,and I would root for him against pretty boy,but you’re right on the money here.Sure he hasnt shown that much power recently,but he hasnt had to.I think that on some level Floyd is in it for more than the money.To be called the greatest is a guarantee that you will always get paid.Armed with that info Floyd would destroy Manny.The only problem is that Cotto is going to get to him first.Cotto mosley2.it only seems fair.

Marquez is a sour grape. He lost to mayweather because he is too slow, doesn’t punch hard, and couldn’t find the target.

Correction Pacquiao can KO from 107-147Lbs in a very early rounds. Also Mayweather and Marquez can only KO opponents in the later rounds.
Mayweather KO avergae is 60-62% only and Pacquiao is 84%. Pacquiao definitely has more power than Mayweather.

It is sad to see that Marquez falls not because of the outcome of Floy-Marquez fight but because of Perez’s article. If it is true, then it is over for Marquez. He is mentally defeated. I like Marquez, but not the pee pee thing.
First, I saw an unfair match. Floy cheated with weight to gain more strength over Marquez; therefore, Floy has all advantages (reach, strength, and speed).
Second, Marquez (and his trainer) does not understand at all. Here is why:
- 1. If you don’t have reach, stay inside to limit the long arm guy extend his full strength (Marquez did not, he fired his combination and jump out to allow Floy to wear him down – Floy japs to Marquez stomach).
- 2. If you are slower than your opponent, fire “predicted” combination when your opponent gets inside your range (Marquez did not. Floy left hook lands all night long)
- 3. If you are a shorter man, you got to be the busier (Marquez did not)
- 4. If you fought a defensive guy like Floy. Mix your combination between real and fake punches. When you are outside, moving your head to get in (the way Tyson did). When you are inside, fire your combination:
– when he bend, you chop chop chop (he can bend for a couple times until he feel your pressure)
– Floy can only cover one side of his head and either a stomach or chest at a time so hook to stomach -> head -> chop to chest … and you mix your combination like Hatton when he is inside.
… that is just a few things on top of my head. Marquez did not know how to fight a tall defensive guy. He did not train to fight inside either. What Marquez did is throw a 3-4 combination and jump out and then wait wait wait … he is waiting to be defeated WHY? If Marquez fight the way Diaz fought him Floy will be in trouble.

pac man will never beat floyd. You need a fighter with the same speed and you have to smuther floyd. floyd likes to throw one punch then he comes in and holds. you have to step to side when he does this hit him a with a upper cut. i like paul williams chances because he likes to throw a hell of punches jabs very well and dont forget he is a southpaw. zab judah had the best chance to beat he was the only one who really hit floyd pretty good too bad zab head isnt screwed on tight

If Manuel Perez fight to Mayweather, sure he will be in the stretcher in first round at 1 second only! But Pacquiao fight to Mayweather it would not happen maybe Mayweather knock out before 5 rounds, and it will not happen that Mayweather fight to Pacquiao he has already a track record that Mayweather not agree always to fight to somebody if he knows that he can not survive the fighter for example, Shane Mosley he don’t want to fight until he retired and now he comes back! Mark my words – Mayweather will NOT face Pacquiao if Pacquiao looks impressive and beats Cotto. He would only fight Pac if Pac loses against Cotto (meaning Mayweather would get a higher percentage, and he wouldnt’ see Pac as a threat), but if Pac beats Cotto, Mayweather will make any excuse he can make to avoid him.
