Darren Sutherland Discovered Dead – News

sutherland434
By Nate Anderson: With sadness, Boxing News 24 has learned that 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist for Ireland Darren Sutherland (4-0, 4 KO’s) was found dead in his home today. According to reports, Sutherland, 27, was found hanged in his home in Bromley, South London. It’s unclear what could have led to this tragedy. This is a terrible loss to the boxing community, as Sutherland looked to be poised to be potential world champion in the future and had breezed through his first four opponents knocking all four of them out since turning pro in December 2008.

However, in Sutherland’s last bout, a 4th round knockout victory over Gennadiy Rasalev, on June 30th, Sutherland seemed to struggle at times against the 2-2 Rasalev, taking some shots and not winning as easily as some people had thought that Sutherland would.

Such a terrible loss to boxing / this world. He was a good role model, had the world at his feet – so sad that he would rather end his life than to live it. Hope his soul rests in peace and that his family are coping. R.I.P Darren ‘the dazzler’ Sutherland.
