Andrade Stops Williams
By Eric Thomas: Unbeaten light middleweight prospect Demetrius Andrade (7-0, 6 KO’s) scored yet another knockout, stopping John Williams (3-1-1, 2 KO’s) in the 6th round in a scheduled six round bout on Friday night at the Twin River Event Center, in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
The fight was stopped by referee Danny Schviavone at 2:33 of the 6th round. Andrade, 21, a 2008 Olympian boxer for the U.S. team, totally controlled the bout on Friday night against an over-matched Williams, hitting him with blistering fast combinations from body to head and showing incredibly fast hands for a light middleweight.
Williams, a three time Golden Gloves champion, was no match for the speed and power of Andrade and was forced to soak of a lot of punishment for the first five rounds of the bout. In the 6th round, Andrade went for broke and began to really pour it on, landing sustained flurries.
Finally, the referee had seen too much of the one-sided beating and stepped in and halted the hopeless mismatch at 2:33 of the 6th round. This was a great win for Andrade, one of the top prospects in boxing.

I agree it wasn’t a hopeless match..that boy could take a punch but my cousin still did what he had to do.
It wasn’t a hopeless match. Williams never fell, no matter what Andreade- “punished “him with. We in NC are proud of the “beating: Williams took and stood. Give him some credit. Even Andrade said he was his toughest opponent. It’s okay to pump up your fighter, but give Wiliiams his due.
