Warren denies Khan Pay per views were low – Boxing News

By Liam Santiago: Frank Warren, promoter of Bolton boxer, Amir Khan has played down claims that box office tallies for Khan’s world title fight with Kotelnik where down by a large margin. Managing Director of the Klitschko Management Group, Boente claimed that the Haye-Klitshcko bout fell apart as Haye was basing his purse on the UK PPV sales. Boente, alleged that Khan drew in only 30,00 customers. However, Warren denies this and claim’s Khan drew in over 100,000 PPV’s and he was not satisfied with that. Who do you believe?

I could see why Khan’s viewers might have decided to opt out of paying £15 to watch him. I was very disappointed after paying for the Prescott fight and seeing no more than 54 seconds. I, personally do not see Khan as PPV worthy. It took me 54 seconds to work that out the last time I payed to watch him. Haye should not compare himself to Khan.

warren544Haye is an exciting fighter who is pushing himself to challenge the best and become the best. Khan, however, is looking like he will stray clear from the top fighters such as Bradley, Campbell or even Witter. Instead, he looks ready to drag the old Mexican legend out of retirement and pointlessly outpoint him in a bout not worthy of £15.

Warren went on to say, “He’s put it out there and it’s a liberty, he [Boente] said the Haye-Klitschko fight did not take place because of those numbers but the [Haye]-Valuev fight is not as attractive and that’s still going out on Sky Box Office. The numbers were miles, miles above that [30k]. They were in excess of 100,000.” I also do not agree that Valuev is not as marketable as the Klitschko fight.

Everyone loves seeing a little man take on a huge giant and even winning. This is more marketable, for non boxing fans. He went on to say, ‘I never, ever get the numbers I want from Pay-Per-View. We are always aiming higher’.

I am very proud of our British boxing history and on occasions [most] i am very biased, however, i have to agree with liam, Khan does have a problem with big punchers and if he has any real ambition of being the best then he has to face the best out there, if he has improved which he and his trainer says then lets see him against top quality fighters who can hit hard and move, there are plenty of boxers who would love to be called a world champion and would go down fighting to hold on to their title, not vacate it because they dont fancy their next apponent. i do like khan and i would like to think he will become a great british boxer but to do this he has to fight the best.

This guy keeps complaining about £15- If you have read his last article, he also claimed to be a boxing expert (laughable)

On this article he is complaining about £15- AGAIN.

There are people out there who think Khan is worth £15 and no one is forcing you to purchase Khan PPV fights.

Personally I don’t think a top of the range Benz is worth £100k+, but I don’t complain about it.

The public will only pay money if it’s a ‘marque fight’. Not when it’s a boxer like Khan, who still in my eyes, a up and coming fighter.

If Khan did pull over 100,000 viewers im very impressed because kotelink isnt the biggest name even thouggh it was a world title fight and we should expect bigger number with the bigger fighters
