Bradley Shouldn’t Fight Campbell Again
By Eric Thomas: Count me in as one of the many people who don’t want to see WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley fight Nate Campbell again. The fight ended up in controversy with Campbell sustaining a bad cut over his left eye from a head butt in the 3rd round last Saturday night. However, the bout was almost entirely controlled by the younger 25-year-old Bradley who got the better of Campbell during pretty much every minute of action of the fight.
Though the fight was still in the early stages, it looked as if Bradley wasn’t about to tire out any time soon and would have likely continued on course to win a unanimous decision. Campbell was missing a lot of punches and looking really slow in there. He said afterwards that he was in the process of walking Bradley down and would have gotten to him in the later rounds.
I don’t believe that, though. Campbell was throwing and missing with his shots, and looked out of his league in the fight. Campbell can punch good, but he’s not the kind of huge puncher that would be able to change the course of a fight against a fighter like Bradley who has a pretty good chin. I think Campbell could certainly have gotten to Bradley if he was able to land enough punches, but the problem with that is Campbell wasn’t landing often enough to cause Bradley any problems in the fight.
A rematch between these two fighters will likely end up the same way with one of the two getting cut from another head butt. Campbell and Bradley were clashing heads from the first round and continued to bang heads until the end of the fight in the 3rd. It’s just a problem with their style of fighting in which both of them come forward with their heads down.
It would probably take a miracle for the two fighters to go it without another cut occurring at some point in the fight. Because of that, I think Bradley needs to move on and find someone else. I’m all for having Campbell’s loss erased by having the verdict changed to a no decision. But I think Bradley needs to move on in another direction. He could go after a unification match against Amir Khan or Devon Alexander.
That would be interesting. I doubt that Khan would go for it, though, but I think Alexander would be game. Short of that, Bradley should look at defending his title against a popular slugger like Marcos Maidana. That would be a fight that would sure to entertain and get the cable networks and boxing fans interested.

TDC – I apologise.
: )
Altough Bradley used his speed and dominated Campbell I still think that it wasn’t a fair decision.
Well Matthew Hatton chicken out in the fight with Zab Judah why because Zab would of kill him. Zab vs. Bradley for the title. After Zab beat his next man then he should fight Tim Bradley for the title next. Go win over Campbell
and Rest up. Super Zab is comin.
well it should be Ricky Hatton vs. Junior Witter they both have two losses and they both Former Champion. So Whats up make this happen. Ricky still running and ducking like a Chicken.
Is it just me who thought Bradley lost to Kendall Holt?
I think I agree with the writer on this one. I’m one to think that whatever happens in the ring, your time in the ring is your opportunity, no matter what fate lies ahead. Look at Cotto. He was cut badly, and fought through it. You have to show the people involved with the fight that you can battle through it. This is not to say that I think Cotto should have been given the decision against Clottey. Then again, Clottey had clear advantages that he did not take charge of. But that’s for another blog.
CAMPBELL FREAKIN QUIT! HE SHOULD HAVE SAID HE COULDNT SEE BECAUSE OF A HEAD BUTT HE DIDNT SAY THAT ALL HE SAID IS I CANT SEE ALL I SEE IS RED SPOTS -THIS DUDE QUIT HE DOESNT DESERVE A REMATCH!
no way does campbell deserve a rematch. id say he did if he did fake the pain he was in and expect a no decision. he shud have fought on nad at least tryed and waited to see if he could get on with it, im aware it was a bad cut but u look at a barrera-khan, how bad was that cut? very bad, as bad as campbells and he fought on, i know he lost and the cut did not help but he bloody fought on, this is boxing for god sake, thought campbell was a warrior, thought he was gnna cry when he got handed the tko loss!
So… what im saying is if he’d have fought on and lost(which he was gnna lose anyway) then he deserve a rematch gicven that the cut would have maybe demanded one. thing is he didnt and knew he undertrained and was gnna get bashed, he took the east route out, simple!
TDC – LOL I like the expression loose as your’e bird very clever…..How long did it take you to come up with that one?
To be honest I didn’t think you were educated enough to come out with such a quick line like that!
Congrats : )

MATE (I USE MATE AS LOOSE AS YOUR BIRD) BLA BLA BLA
Get a life RMC you twit!
I also agree that Campbell deserves a rematch. Clearly he wouldn’t outbox Bradley but he does have a punchers chance. We saw what Holt could do on the few times he connected clean. If you think about it, Campbell didn’t outbox Funeka either. I also agree that this “I hate you, you hate me” crap on this website is infantile at best. This is a boxing website after all, not dear Abby.
Get a room you two love is clearly in the air.
Bradley is underated, hes no big hitter but hes a very good boxer. The fight was probably guna end up an easy decision for Bradley but i do think his chin is a little suspect, Campbell could of done something.
What ever, it doesnt matter, when a fight is stopped so early without a clear winner nobodys guna be satisfied, even Bradley wont of liked it. Rematch is not a must but it would be really nice if it was to happen.
My eyes shut at the end of round 2, i was gutted id missed the rest of the fight, until i got the news up and found it hadnt gone much further.
TDC – WHY?
It’s it because you don’t like someone having an opinion that differs from yours?
Is it because your’e a child who sits behind his Keyboard and rants like a spoilt brat NAH NAH NAH “Go and play with your lego” and so forth!
Is it because the only reason you live is to get kicks out of trying to wind people up?
please explain?
HATES A HARSH WORD and I’d like to know why?
Have I been nasty to poor TDC? ahhh bless I’M SO SORRY!
Does that make you feel better?
MATE (used in the loosest term)
GROW UP! FFS this is a place to debate boxing NOT THROW YOUR DUMMY out of the PRAM!
I’m not going to even entertain you, on how you come across!
PATHETIC!
SHUT UP RMC I HATE YOU!
TDC – LOL thanks mate. I agree it should have been a NO DECISION! It was clearly a head butt that caused the cut! Strange night of boxing though….don’t you think?
Something felt odd about it! Either that or I was simply shattered from staying up until 02:30 to watch it!
I see where this article is coming from. But at the end of the day, Campbell deserves a rematch. You simply cannot sate clearly what that result would have been, if Campbell had not sustained the cut which incidentally was caused by a head butt. Yes from the off Bradley looked sharp, and yes in theory the younger man should have plenty of gas in the tank. But if the fight had gone into the late championship rounds “DEEP WATER” would Campbell’s experience of paid dividend?
At some point Campbell would have started to get to Bradley as you have stated, surely that means he had a chance? after all fights have been won in the very last round! e.g Froch v Taylor, Chevez vs Meldrick Taylor!
So with two many questions left unanswered IMO a rematch is required.
