Angulo, who was defeated by Kermit Cintron by a 12-round unanimous decision loss on May 30th, was much too powerful for Rosado to deal with, knocking him to the canvas three separate times before the bout was ultimately stopped by referee Russell Mora in the 2nd round.

Angulo looked entirely different from his fight with Cintron three months ago, much stronger and more aggressive. Rosado came into the fight with wins over Kassim Ouma and James Moore with a reputation of being a tough opponent to handle due to his versatility. Until last night, Rosado had never been knocked out before in his three year pro career, yet Angulo handled him with ease as if he was fighting a flyweight instead of a light middleweight.

This performance may have proven the excuse that Angulo was sick the night that he fought Cintron, which kept Angulo from fighting at full strength on that night. Angulo pounced on Rosado at the opening bell in the 1st round, ripping powerful hooks to the body and head. After tasting Angulo’s power, Rosado decided immediately that it was safer for him to stay on the move rather than slug with Angulo.

Rosado did a good job of avoiding Angulo’s bigger shots in the round. However, he was tempting fate on a couple of occasions by staying in front of Angulo for too long of a time. Luckily for Rosado, Angulo missed with his biggest shots in the round because there were a number of big shots that would have decapitated Rosado had the punches landed.

Near the end of the round, Rosado landed a beautiful left hook as he was backing away from Angulo. The punch slowed Angulo down just enough so that Rosado could get away without getting murdered by of Angulo’s huge right hands.

In the 2nd round, things continued to look good for Rosado in the first minute of action. Rosado used his left to keep Angulo off of him. However, Angulo kept the pressure on Rosado, catching him with a couple of big right hands. Angulo landed a right hand after a clinch that sent Rosado flying backwards where he landed on his backside.

Rosado got up and was met with a storm of punches from Angulo that sent Rosado down for a second time in the round. Angulo wasted little time in going after Rosado and ending matters shortly after that with a right hand to the head, leaving Rosado down in his corner.

The suddenness of the turn of events in the fight was pretty dramatic, as one second Rosado was holding his own against Angulo and the next second Rosado was getting knocked down repeatedly. The performance from Angulo just shows how dangerous a puncher he is and why he’s entertaining to watch.

This victory keeps Angulo moving forward towards an eventual title shot against one of the light middleweight champions. The current champions – Paul Williams, Sergei Dzinziruk, Cory Spinks Sergio Martinez and Daniel Santos would be tough opponents for Angulo at this point because of their boxing ability. Angulo would have a chance against each of them if he could turn it into a war. It would be great before that if Angulo could get a rematch with Cintron so that Alfredo could erase the stain of that defeat and prove that he’s the better fighter.
