DON'T FORGET THIS IS NOT A BODYBUILDING CONTEST. This is a boxing match. I think he needs a good defense, a solid strategy to get past that left jab, goog conditioning and endurance in case its to 12 rounds, a mental conditioning. By training some of his weight will come off as a byproduct, but he should not concentrate on losing weight just training hard, even if he looks like a fatso for fight night.
