Heavyweight Boxer tragically dies after bout – News

By Liam Santiago: Heavyweight boxer, Francisco “Pancho” Moncivais tragically passed away on Saturday night, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, due to the extent of damage suffered the previous night in a bout in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. ‘Pancho’ was said to have been taken off life support as he was not going to recover from his severe injuries.

According to a source ‘Pancho was one of the nicest, classiest, well mannered guys that you could ever meet’. It is extremely sad to hear of this tragedy and would like to pass my condolences to the family of Francisco on behalf of boxingnews24.

An autopsy shows a Mississippi fighter died of blunt force trauma to the head after being knocked unconscious. Mississippi Boxing Commissioner Jon Lewis, who said he did not attend the fight, told The Sun Herald newspaper that “I can’t find anything wrong that happened. The feedback is that the referee (Fred Steinwinder) did a good job. This is one of those cases where the blow killed the guy,” Lewis said.

A memorial fund for Francisco (1-1) has already been set up. Donations can be sent to the Mississippi Athletic Commission, “Pancho Memorial Fund”, P.O. BOX 720820, BYRAM, MS 39272
