Hatton Not Interested in Khan Showdown – Boxing

hatton4542358By Shaun Campbell: Exclusive News! Ricky Hatton is not interested in a fight with Amir Khan at this moment in time. Khan who has just captured his first world title was hoping to lure Hatton into a matchup for one last hurrah. But the Hitman who has recently been discharged from hospital from suffering from a virus has said that fighting Khan is “the last thing on his mind.”

But he did show massive respect for Amir when saying how happy he was to see him win. The two are friends, but there’s no doubt if the fight ever was to happen, business would be business.

Hatton must be given time to make his decision, as he is busy with his promotional company. People must realise that it isn’t as simple as saying “yes I will fight on” or “I’m done.” It’s the toughest decision of his career so whatever he chose to do, while some people may not agree with it, everyone will support him.

For the British public, should the fight ever happen, it would be the biggest fight in domestic history. The fight would be likely to take place in the UK, possibly at Wembley Stadium. But for the moment Hatton is refusing to commit himself to the fight. He’s not made his decision on whether he will fight on, let alone who he would face. Khan has already respectfully said he would love to face his friend, describing it as an “honour” to share the ring with him. But would the fight be beneficial to Amir? Say he beat Ricky, would that be the best way to get the British public behind him? Say he lost to Hatton, his locker at the Wildcard Gym would be up for sale. Freddy Roach is a great trainer and came up with the game plan to beat Hatton for Manny Pacquiao, but Amir Khan is no Manny Pacquiao. Could he whether Hatton’s constant pressure? Could he take the body shots? Or would be simply be to fast for the Hitman.

It is unlikely that this fight will happen. Hatton has said should the fight ever happen, he would want to promote it, so that the only ones getting the money would be himself and Khan which is the way it should be. But there’s more chance of Hatton facing Junior Witter than Frank Warren agreeing to that. Warren and Hatton had a falling out after the Kostya Tszyu fight and decided to part ways. Although there was an untidy lawsuit between the two which Hatton ended up winning.

For the moment “The Battle of Britain” looks destined never to happen. But wasn’t there another fight between Hatton and a certain American pound for pound champion that seemed like it was never going to happen? Patience is needed among the boxing world. Hatton’s fans are happy to wait for him to make the right decision.

Ricky doesn’t have the love for the sport to continue. He’s not someone who fights for money. He loves his fans and i think that’s the only reason he’d fight on…seems as if his fans don’t want him too so hopefully he calls it a day. He’s done more than any one ever expected a little lad from a Manchester council estate to do.

i honestley think ricky could cause khan nightmares and we could have a gabbage on our hands.

  • yiddo says:

khan cannot beat hatton. if ricky landed one of them punches that kotelnik did then that would be that, k.o all over, as much as amir has improved his defence under roach he still got caught clean on the chin too often. ricky is a warrior and would get up for any fight especially now he would be starting again, and when push comes to shove(headbut or elbow)he will knock him out, i can’t see it being any other way.
i backed khan to win the other night and thought he looked quality, but not top quality! more pauli mallignaggi than floyd mayweather, and i wouldn’t be surprised if he gave up his title if his 1st mandertory challenger looked to dangerous.

  • khan-can says:

it’s clear ricky only really wanted the P4Pking title. since he never acquired it ricky does not seem to have any interest in boxing. khan on the other hand wants to achieve what pacquiao has done. this means he must fight everybody from old, washout over the hill, semiretired and top of the game current fighters and defeat them all. khan wants to be the next cashcow of boxing. he must tore thru everyone and win. now he has to start somewhere.

  • Anthony says:

Im glad the fight isnt going to happen. Amir Khan Vs Junior Witter is the fight I want to see (thats if Witter can beat Alexander) Or Hatton Witter would be good.

Hatton knocks Khan out inside 5 rounds.
I cant see all the hype that Khan is getting, he’s just beat an average, feather fisted boxer. An old mexican coming up a weight who fought 5 rounds with the nastiest head would you are likely to see (from a head butt not a punch btw)and a school teacher with a dodgy record and even dodgier chin since Roach has had him, yet he’s now a world beater compared to the man Prescott battered!!!

Come on everybody WAKE UP, he’s no better now than he was pre-prescott. He’s a chinless, straight punching, one dimensional average boxer.

  • Ukansodoff says:

Even though he aint saying it i reckon he could be ready to call on retirement.

Hes guna struggle as mentioned for the motivatoin and if its against a Brit, a Lancastrian and friends the motivation would be nil.

  • A.K POWER says:

    Khan the don mother fakerz

  • Da Contender says:

Im not sure if hatton has the motivation to fight on and this comment verifies the point. I know he hasnt been too well lately but if he was really up for it he would sound a lot more encouraging even mention some tune ups before a showdown next year but no. In his two defeats, before the bouts he genuinely thought he could beat his opponents, but the truth is, hatton is good at being hatton which is basically a slugger but when he comes up against a really good boxer with slick ring skills and not someone who just wants to stand and trade he has got/will get found out.

I think he’s been a credit to British boxing but never got to fulfill his dream of being crowned the worlds best P4P. He should retire. He wont fancy another L on his record and even though i think it would be a lot closer than some think against Kahn, he knows he could be in for a long night with the now ultra confident kahn a world champ and showing he can hit and cover up effectively(but lets be honest he is working with the best trainer in the world)

Hattons confidence isnt quite there he must have at least 10mill in the back a few nice houses and motors and can provide for his family and i think that should be his lot. what is he 45-2 or something? a very good record, he’s a nice bloke ive met him on the lash in his home town finish now ricky you’ve got more than most, you’ve been a good champ but the sun’s setting on your career.

  • Amir Khan says:

Hatton’s a top duck, but i think he should hang up the gloves his had a great career. I’m only going to improve more get faster and stronger i don’t think Ricky would keep up with my pace i would probably stop him in the tenth because he has no defense and would take too many shots.

  • joshua williams says:

i think ricky shoulh hang his gloves up hes done al he needs to do he should leave when he still has his health
