Gatti’s death Ruled a Suicide – News
By Eric Thomas: Former super featherweight and light welterweight boxing champion Arturo Gatti’s death has been ruled a suicide according to reports on the Brazilian police investigation on Gatti’s recent death. Gatti was found dead in his posh apartment in Porto de Galinhas, Brazil. Gatti’s 23-year-old wife Amanda Rodrigues was soon after jailed under suspicion that she may have strangled Gatti with a purse strap.
At the time of his death, Gatti was drunk. However, Brazilian investigators concluded today that it was a suicide and have now released Gatti’s wife from custody. Part of what led police investigators to rule that it was a suicide was that Gatti was found hanging, according to reports.
Gatti’s wife was slender and small, too small to pick up the stocky Gatti and hang him by his neck, the investigators concluded. It would have taken great strength to pick up Gatti or restrain if he were resisting.
Gatti, 37, retired from boxing two years ago after suffering back to back knockout losses to Carlos Baldomir and Alfonso Gomez a year apart. In 2005, Gatti was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. by a one-sided 6th round TKO.

i’m not buying this explanation either -and neither is gatti’s family it seems.
maybe it was something sexual? he was into deviant stuff?? dunno. remember what happened to that kung-fu guy.
such a tragedy.
Hang him? No, Arturo Gatti was the type of fighter that if you wanted to kill him you’d shoot him, from across the room… way across the room.
someone else cudnt have lifted him up?
Its strange how the Brazilian police backtracked so quickly on what they originally thought. And what about the damage to the back of his head? Sounds strange to me.
This is so sad. He had so much to live for. Didn’t he have kids?
