Who is the Best Boxer of All Time?

robinson757322By Liam Santiago: Over the years many world class boxers have come and gone. Some have stayed at the top for over a decade, while others with the same talents have stayed for under a year. But who is the greatest fighter to ever live?

Muhammed Ali has to be up there. Amazing speed and footwork, so much so that at heavyweight he more or less resembled a lightweight. Not only did he have the talent, he brought a new face to boxing, especially the heavyweight division. He set a standard which, in the heavyweight division, has never been matched and quite possibly never will.

Sugar Ray Robinson (173-19-6, 108ko’s), has to be in the top three. To go 95 fights unbeaten is an amazing achievment which will never be matched in this day and age. His first loss came to Jake LaMotta, who arguably also one the best ever fighters, known for displaying an amazingly granite chin, huge knockout power and good ability. Robinson also lost to Britain’s Randolph Turpin the first time they fought.

The Lemington boxer beat Robinson convincingly, however, the rematch, which Robinson won, was much more unconvincing. Turpin also has to be rated as one of the best, he had a huge heart, huge power and he could box amazingly.

In my opinion, however, the best boxer of all time has to be the one and only Panamanian legend, Roberto Duran. Duran took boxing to another level, he set a new standard. His aggressive style and ferocious power made him very hard to deal with. Not only was he extremely talented, he was one of the most exiting fighters to watch. In his prime there was not, and has not been since, a single fighter who could match him. He twice defeated Buchanan who famously beat Panamanian legend Laguna, who was Duran’s idol.

Close behind Duran, it has to be Randy Turpin and third, Ray Robinson.

Pacquiao is the Greatest Boxer of All-Time.. It takes more than a hundred years or maybe not to beat his achievement as Eigth Times WC in Eight different Divisions.. There are a lot of Greatest Boxer in their own Era.. but the fact is, they never achieved what PACMAN did in his legacy.

  • deo badique says:

Just look at the record of Manny Paquiao how he demolished the legends and a giants compared to Manny. The only boxer in the history of boxing who compiled 8 world division titles at his pocket.

LL Cool Jay is by far the greatest boxer of all time. (Mamma Said Knock You Out, Huu!!!)

boxing means $ in the past decade but way back in a day boxing was hard real now its a lot magasine tv popularity and francklyn everywhere i will say allllllllllyyyyyyyy best of all time manny packiao oh maywather with 200 win combine never gonna be like him

  • archie says:

manny pacquiao fights the best at their prime but he only makes them look like they past their prime and actually it is not. manny makes them look like an amateur because of the combination he have. imagine fighting a boxer with endless ammunition capable of hitting you everywhere with great speed. if you are so brave enough to exchange those punches you will be like hatton and if you try to run to survive hes still inevitable. those people talking against pacquiao dont understand what cotto, delahoya, marquez, ledwaba, barrera, morales, diaz, clottey feels when they fight pacquiao. you have to be very careful fighting pacquiao in 12 rounds. you have to have a chin like clottey has and mayweather knows that. if we encounter something inevitable speed with so much power. what will people do. choices are? cover or run. but while they are fighting inside the ring its confusing. they will really look amateur if theres a great power, speed, angles and ammunition. its like fighting a tireless machine of destruction. you have to survive that

  • dustin says:

but foreman is My overall favorite. talk about staying on your feet. talk about being able to take a punch. he gave frazier a right beating, but frazier was also haf his size. and this was a year after frazier took the beating of HIS life in manilla. plus he had cataracs, but still, foreman was a beast. then to come back from retirement and regain the belt as old as he was. damn. the rumble in the jungle, where he lost to ali, i think he fought well. if you watch the fight you will see that he was dominating until the last few rounds, when his stamina ran out due to ali hugging the ropes and tiring him out. plus, the ropes arent supposed to give you that much leverage. ali shouldnt have been able to rope a dope. if they were regulation, foreman would have won. ces la vis. but foreman… his only loss in his prime was to ali, barely… can you fault him for that? heeeeell no. and to have almost had a shot at tyson in HIS prime after the age of 40… could ali have done the same? heeeeell no. foreman is the F’ing man! in my opinion, the king of the all time heavyweights. and he never had to open his mouth to argue a points decision. he just went in and got the job done time and time and time again nomatter his age and nomatter who his opponent was.

  • dustin says:

but most of the people on this thread dont know about the old boxers, or the ones that havent gained certain high profile notoriety. you cant leave out, duran, hagler, lamotta, sugar ray leanard who isnt and old timer and im surprised isnt even spoken of…. and what about roy jones jr? nobody even mentioned him. what kind of a boxing thread is this. and does anyone know about Vitali Klitschko?!!! jesus. the guy as never been knocked down. not only that but he has THEE highest knockout percentage of any heavyweight champion ever. between him and his brother wlatimir they have the heavyweight chmpionship world cornered.they got allll the belts. they litterally are dolphe lundgren in rocky 3. except there is no rocky to ultimately defeat them. if youve ever seen either of them fight, youd see what a mountain looks like wearing boxing gloves.

  • dustin says:

most of these people dont know much about boxing. foreman is one of my favorites for the fact that he is the oldest champion ever. and his record was nearly perfect. his fight with ali wasnt a massacre. if you watcht the fight, foreman was definately on fire throughout the fight. if not for the rope-a-dope, which i think was a happy accident in favor of ali, ali would have lost brutally. also, it is still widely disputed who the real victor was between ali, and frazier. ive seen the fights. i think had the “thrilla” gone that extra round, ali would have been floored and probobly died. plus, frazier also only lost to ali and foreman. if your only losses were to two of the greatest boxers ever, i think u should be ranked in the top. tyson was way over rated. he had a great start but a brutal finish. he lost to buster douglas for crying out loud. ROBINSON is the greatest ever though. no contest. hes like the micheal jordan of boxing. it would take a super human to even come close to his record. mayweather could be one of the greatest if he just bites the bullet and fights paquiao. pacuaio is great, in the past 2 years he’s beaten everyone mayweather has beat only faster. but, he was pound for pound champ only after mayweather retired. so i dont think its fair. plus, his two fights with marquez are disputable… nearly identical, and i think he one by one single point in the decision. so, blah on paquiao. he needs to beat mayweather to even have a chance at consideration for all time greatest boxers in my opinion… which he wont do.

  • Gerard says:

ALI. He has to be the best ever. He possessed everything – the art and style, the speed, the stamina, the body, the power to punch and take punch, the charisma, the following and the mouth. There has never been, and probably never will be, a fighter with all these qualiities together. I wonder how Frazier and Tyson get listed in Surveys for Best Fighters. Not taking away anything from them, these two were among the ugliest (in style) fighters. When we look for the BEST, do they deserve to be there? They were strong and power-packed alright.

  • Anonymous says:

i’m a real filipino at heart but i guess pacquiao is a good fighter but too early to say that he is the best ever..maybe this decade but we can decide if he’s the best when he retires..for now he is definitely the pound for pound king..no doubts and mayweather can’t be compared to him..not even close..never!!!

    2 cotto
    3 shane mosley
    4 nonito donaire
    5 oscar de lahoya
    6 juan manuel marquez
    7 through 100 etc.

    1000. floyd mayweather

For me , of course Manny Pacquiao . Because he become stronger and stronger with every fight. Even if he has 3 defeats , he is better than mayweather because pacquiao has many ko win than him. So Pacman is the best fighter of the decades.

    Pacman!!

  • Real boxing fan says:

Manny pacquiao is not the best boxer of all time.you people can not compare manny to sugar Ray robison,Ali,Duran,Tyson,Chavez.all of this boxers fought the best fighters not like pacquiao he only has fought boxers past there prime like Morales,Barrera,De la hoya,Cotto wasn’t past his but he got brutal beaten by Margarito.People say pacquiao is the best boxer ever because he has seven world titles in diffrent weight class.First of all people get your fact right pacquio has won seven tiltles but only five are world tiltles.Oscar de la hoya has won more world titles a ten time world chapion in six weight division. But it doesn’t make him the best boxer ever.people that say pacquiao is the best doesn’t know about boxing. One more thing the only boxer he has in his prime is Juan Manuel Marquez and pacquiao lost both fights on the last fight he got outbox.

  • Mario says:

Manny pacquiao is a good boxer but not one of greatest. He only had fought boxers past there prime or second level boxer.the only boxer in his prime is Juan Manuel Marquez in my opinion he lost the fight.

  • mismatch fight says:

You people who did not pick Pacman those are racist people,Did your boxing idol got seven different division titles starting from flyweight to welterweight a 3x boxer of the year and receiving award as a boxer of the decade.Let face it,you people didn’t choose Manny Pacquiao is because pacman is asian and filipino boxer.

  • darren says:

lala is the only person to have even mentioned who is the greatest fighter of all time. ali robinson duran etc etc can only be considered for who is 2nd best. the little man who was dubbed the mighty atom. or more fitting the ghost with a hammer in his hand. JIMMY WILDE. he would probably given it a go against fighters 5 or 6 stone heavier. his record is 2nd to none and that was fighting nearly every fight so much lighter than his opponent. would be like having ali no bigger than a middleweight fighting heavyweights all his career. the man had the biggest heart you will c. the only TRUE legend

  • Zak says:

definitely Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali

  • daemonicans says:

    no doubt..

i think all of u guys are crazy.
None of u mention the great julio cesar chaves jr.
he might not have been the best but i rank him #2 below Sugar the original 1

  • Boxing champ says:

Are you guys crazy?? Mike Tyson in the top 5 !! Great in his prime but nothing compared to the likes of sugar ray. Ali has to be in the top 5 if not the top 3 considering he got stripped of his boxing licence and lost 4 years when he was in his prime. People who say Foreman was drugged up when Ali beat him are either crazy or just idiots, they did tests on Foreman which prove he wasn’t drugged!!! Rocky Marciano is overated just because he was unbeaten as is Mayweather jr.

  • Kool Papa says:

Muhammed Ali. Who else fought and defeated as many of the other greatest fighters as him? He fought Frazier in his prime, Foreman when he was a young man, Sonny Liston when he was supposed ot be invincible. And keep in mind, half of his prime fighting years were taken away from him because he is also one of the most integritous human beings ever. Now way it could ever be “NO MAS” Duran.

  • Evan says:

guys you are joking if you don’t put Joe Calzghe in the top ten of all time!!!! Ten years as champ!!! unbeatable in 40 fights!!!! and killed men. His victory’s are a who’s who of the time. Like left hook who was rated as the next Tyson. Kesler who, lets be honest is a very scary man!!!! Ubank and let not forget Hopkins. He is a pro in every regard who never turned away from the big fights but until the end never got the chance as the big Americans would rather swerve him than fight him. Even though when he was past his prim he still killed all that apposed his rule!!!! when the big boys stepped up Joe showed what class was. He was a master tactician who had lightning hands and power up both sleeves a class act all the way. Plus what a nice block!!!!!

  • rick says:

Ali said he was the greatest, as a marketing tool. But, when asked who he honestly thought was the greatest fighter ever, he said Sugar Ray Robinson. Any real boxing fan knows that if they’re being honest with themselves. I don’t know if Arguello was the best of all time , but he is definately a legend and highly underrated, especially by the younger crowd. Check him out on espn classic. One of the best boxer-puncher’s I’ve have ever seen! R.I.P.

Ive gotta say, it aint joe calzaghe. Joe calzaghe is to be honest, the worst boxer ive seen and i honestly dont base it on his nationality its because he left me with our two adopted children and never came home. that was when he was fighting robin reid, now he goes off to the US and makes millions? i want my cut. Im happily remarried to Kelly Pavlik these days, though he doesnt make much money and only seems to fck nobodys over……………………I hate ricky hatton n david haye

  • daniel says:

turpin was robd in the rematch. robinson had awful cuts and was on the verge of being stoped by ref. then robinson hit him with a cuple a shots and the ref jumped in, robbed.

  • Wayne Lord says:

For the record, an old Sugar Ray Robinson lost to Randy Turpin on points. Why? because Sugar Ray in his old age, used to go into fights out of shape and take some guys too lightly. In the rematch, he knocked him out in 10.
Randy Turpin was like leon Spinks vs Ali, a decent fighter in the right place at the right time. There are so many guys like that who became champions but lost in their first defence and of ten after that. At the same time, we also know of many great fighters who got robbed and never had a 2nd chance at a title. Robinson went 85-0 and 128-1-2 in his prime. He reitred and came back. Most of his losses came late in his career and he usually came back, trained properly and beat his man. There is only one Sugar Ray…Robinson. Sweet like sugar!

I think certain people are missing the point here. I rate mayweather extremely highly; incredible ability and has beaten some fine opponents but can we really say he has fought and seen off all the best of HIS time? We need to differentiate between ability, heart and true greatness. Steve bunce once called Naseem hamed the greatest boxer of all time; maybe one of the most exciting but not fighting barrera again takes away any claim for greatness. Hatton would fight anyone anywhere but lack of ability perhaps found out against top level fighters. Robinson, Ali, Leonard, Tyson, Jones jr…these are the type of people who have a true claim to greatness. Ability, Heart and would dodge no-one.

  • The Brahma Bull says:

    1. Little Mac
    2. Mike Tyson
    3. Super Macho Man

These three have to be the best. They were the best when I was a kid. Although they’re fictitious, aside from Tyson, their names have either haunted me or made me feel great as a kid.

Now that I’m an adult, choosing the best is too difficult. Since I can’t choose one based on true boxing definitions, I’d have to say Mike Tyson. He’s the only one with a video game based on him. He was the man to beat. Back then, if you were the man to beat, you were the best. It’s not so true nowadays. I don’t recall any other boxer having a video game based on him. If there is one, I apologize. I’m just not into video games as much anymore. Here’s a great idea. Why don’t we all agree on who the greatest boxer of all time is and make a video game based on him. Then, he would be the man to beat. The game should be called “The True P4P King, ???????????” But I seriously doubt that this will happen because we all would never agree completely on who the best is. There are too many to choose from, from the past and the present. Actually, it’s a good thing because it shows that boxing will continue to live.

It has to be decided on era.

Tyson was the greatest destructive force of the late 80′s and early 90′s but Ali was great before then and Lewis was great post Tyson.

Thomas Hearns was undoubtedly the greatest fighter of his generationas as he knocked out Roberto Duran with probably the best punch I have ever witnessed but was not the greatest boxer as proven by Sugar Ray Leonard.

It’s impossible to tell the greatest boxer of all time but I admire you for staking your claim for Sugar Ray Robinson and Roberto Duran, both of which can be classed as all time greats

Someone up there was smoking drugs they had FLOYD MAYWEATHER in the top 5 boxers ever!!! Mwaaaaaaahahahahaha. Not top but Mr Michael Tyson was one of my personal faves.

  • ConnorDCondor says:

Totally agree with you Nepster. Pac would be there at the bottom 70s of top 100. I don’t think he can achieve top 10 let alone BOAT. He’s got only about 3 more winnable credible fights in the horizon.

Dang this thread, I got better things to do but now I am YouTube-ing black and white clips of the old greats. Can’t help it. LOL. And now this BOAT thingy is playing tricks with my mind. I am pitting the old fighters with the new in my imagination. Paul Williams vs Tommy Hearns, hmmm…. Featherweight Pac vs Featherweight Duran, yummm.

Seriously, BOAT, if you press a snubnose .38 against my temple, I’d say Sugar Ray Robinson.

  • greg. says:

Good old sugar ray robinson inventor of the 6 inch punch ……..
As i said earlyer we wil never agree on 1 man but we are blessed we had boxers dat we did have in the last century….peace

  • Anonymous says:

It has to be sugar ray robinson. He went 95 unbeaten in a time when fighting was much more regular. And he is basically the reason the p4p belt was invented. Even Ali says he was the best ever

  • Spark says:

    EASY QUESTION AUDLEY HARRISON…..

  • nepster says:

CondorDConner- I think Pacquiao can be rated as top 100 all time great but, top 5 absolutely not. Too many guys in there that are worthy of top 5. Maybe after Pac’s career is all said and done, then we can consider how great he truly is. The same can be said for anyone who is still currently fighting, Mosley, Mayweather, etc. It’s easy to look at the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Tyson, etc. as we know the entire picture of their career, but guys who are on top now, only time will tell. If Pac beats Mosley, Mayweather, and anyone else, then I would consider him top 50, but for now, top 100.

  • Mike says:

LOL at the gilfraud and perez comments good impersonation

  • ConnorDCondor says:

I even forgot JCC Sr. and Salvador Sanchez! Man, really, this BOAT title is a headspinner. I debate with my own self! LOL.

(Seriously, can’t you consider Pacquiao as BOAT? Pretty please? I mean, the guy sings too. LMAO. Where’s the Pacquiao crowd?)

  • Christine Willams says:

This is a disgrace, David Haye???????

Now i know that he has not been mentioned once on this article but i know somebody could of thought about it and i feel its my duty as a factual none bisaed fountain of boxing knowledge and fact to make sure to tell you what your thinking is wrong if your not thinking the same as me. Its not David (ive faked an injury) Haye. Or anybody from England or called David or Haye.

My opinion is the only one to deserve that title is Bad Chad Dawson, Calzaghe wont fight him, David Haye wont fight him, and even worse Calzaghe wont fight him.

Its just shows they are scared of the badness, god hes sexy, err i mean hes good, he fills out 100 seater stadiums and he only fights people in their prime or under the age of 70.

Chad is better than David Haye. David Haye is a shot, Brit, bum, fraud, fake, i hate you David Haye.

    David

    Haye

    Hayeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • nepster says:

Micheal – Joe Louis had come out of retirement to fight Rocky Marciano and he was seventy six years old. Joe Louis is always lying about his age. He lie about his age all the time. One time Frank Sinatra came in here and sat in this chair. I said Frank ‘you hang out with Joe Louis, just between me and you, how old is Joe Louis.’ You know what Frank told me, he said “Hey, Joe Louis is 137 years old.” A hundred and thirty-seven years old!

  • michael says:

  • I 8 UK S. Gilfoid says:

I dont know who should be the best ever but thats cuz i know little about boxing.

But none the less i will give you one fact from my box of hones tto god im not making it up facts.

You will not find any British people in the list, they are all shot bums with big mouths and no skills, its not an anti British comment cuz i happen to love the Brits. Well i say love, i mean Hate. But i wont just come out and admit that cuz its not true i love the Brits.

Actually you wana know who the greatest boxer is, ive had a think and i know who it is, racking my brain like a fantastic search engine i came up with that well known elite boxer Hulk Hogan.

Not only is he an American hero boxer hes also not British, not that ive got anytihng against the shot overated Brits. Yeah Hulk Hogan is the one for me, either him or Former unified world heavyweight champion Will Smith.

  • nepster says:

Dazze – also, Pac was knocked out 10 years ago, I think he was like 19. At 106 lbs. He was a mediocre fighter 10 years ago, but just because you’re a mediocre fighter doesn’t mean that you can’t get better. Hatton was not only knocked out, he was EMBARASSED by Pacquiao and Mayweather.

  • eddie says:

just reading through all the posts and henry armstrong seems to be mentioned the most !

  • nepster says:

I agree with you about him fighting an old ODLH. But I bet you were thinking that Ricky Hatton was going to take him out after his fight against Malignaggi, with Ricky Hatton’s new “defensive” skills…LOL. Hatton isn’t old, he’s just not an elite fighter. I’ll give you the JMM fights. I think Pac won the first one, but a draw was okay. In order for JMM to overcome a 10-6 first round, he would have had to win 9 out of the last 11 rounds to beat Pac. Even though he gave Pac a boxing clinic after the first two rounds, he did NOT win 9 out of the last 11. The second one could have gone either way, that’s true. But look at Pac’s resume BEFORE this year. Marco Antonio Barrerra, Erik Morales, both rated as one of the 50 ATG. He fought them in their prime. He fought Marquez in his prime. He fought Hatton in his prime (contrary to what other people say, Hatton was/is in his prime, he’s just a b level fighter at best). Who has Hatton fought that is considered, top 50 ATM? Or even HOF material?

  • Manuel Perez Mexico Rules Yeah says:

You people never seem to learn.

Every one of the boxers you say are all wrong choices, Why?

Tyson, Lewis, Ali, Dempsey, Robinson, Leanord, Hagler, Armstrong, Durrant, Ty Fields have one thing in common.

They all lost to J.M. Marquez but conned the referees and judges with financial dirty American Dollars.

And another thing, none of them are Mexican. Now i dont want to seem like im in any way biased towards any Mexican boxers from Mexico the true paradise on earth where Mexicans live out their god like existances in Mexico. But seein as none of them are Mexican from Mexico that instantly discredits and embarreses any claims for them to be best boxer ever.

The real BBOAT is Julio Chavez Sr. Simple as that, nothin to do with his Passport hes god.

Anyway gotta go write a good honest none biased article for you kids about how Cottos shot and how Marquez really won against Paciao. Its true and you know it.

    Areeeeeba,.

  • nepster says:

Hatton has achieved more than Pacquiao? Seriously? Seriously? I like, Hatton, I think he’s a likeable guy. Good fighter. But to say he’s achieved more than Pacquiao is ridiculous. Pacquioa, you could make a case for the top 100 ATM, but Hatton? Not to mention that my niece almost cried because she thought Hatton was dead after Pacquiao knocked him out (note to everyone on this site, do not like an 8 year old watch boxing). At least name 2-3 future HOF that he’s faced. Not to mention when he stepped up the competition, he’s been smoked twice. Dazze – whatever you’re on, let me know…I need it to get me through the rest of my day.

  • ConnorDCondor says:

The B.O.A.T. title is very subjective. It really is a personal preference, there must be two or three fighters in almost everybody’s list. For me, in no particular order, they would be Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard. I would so love to put Tommy Hearns, my favorite boxer of all time in the mix, but his two L against Iran Barkley hurt his case the most.

And may I add: Just wait for the Pacmaniacs to get a hold of this thread. They will list Pacquiao as the best boxer of all time. LOL. Why not? He beat Dela Hoya right after they pull the drip needle out his arm. And he beat Hatton too… in two rounds!!! LOL. (Sorry for the sarcasm :-) )

  • Fettern says:

Very good post greg. Made me happy to read it! :)

  • greg. says:

This is a debate dat wil never b settled every1 has a different fighter for the number 1 spot , we wil never agree on just 1 but id like to point out all the boxers of the passed boxed almost twice a month and the wear and tear on them are nothing compared to now a days but big fight like now deserve to train to be as in shape and ready as possible…….

I honestly cudnt pick a number 1 but i would put herny armstrong up near the very top he fought 5 times in 3 weeks in 1939 all for the welterweight title and won them all (4 by tko and ko)

Its hard to compare the likes of sugar ray robinson and willie pep and so on to the likes of mayweather , cotto , b-hop , but u cant take away anything from them either ………. peace

  • SMG says:

Peter Manfredo Jr: The pride of Providence could not hold his own against every good opponent he faced: Lacy, Calzaghe, Bika and Mora

B- fighter at best; that is a generous grade

  • Fettern says:

First of all Duran only beat Buchanan once. There never was a rematch. I’m a huge fan of Duran and I agree that there could be made arguments that he is the greatest p4p of all time. But Randy Turpin as the 2. greatest of all time? That’s really way off. And to those who put Mayweather in the top 5?? Get real! He hasn’t proven anything. Never beat an ATG in their prime. Just ducked the dangerous fighters and picked the safe ones to stay undeafeted. And Castillo was robbed in their first fight. Knocking out Ricky Hatton does NOT make you the greatest fighter of all time! That goes for both Mayweather and Pacquiao.

  • SMG says:

    Dazze: you are saying that Randy Turpin (won 66 (KO 45) + lost 8 (KO 5) + drawn 1 = 75
rounds boxed 427 : KO% 60 ) is the 2nd best boxer of all time????

I am the crazy one here for saying that is a wacky post????

I’m gonna stop this convo right here…. this is not even worth the keys that I am punching on my keyboard; Turpin does not even fall in the top 5 greatest British Boxers of all time

  • SMG says:

NEPSTER: Thank you 4 that; I personally have never seen another boxer as good as Mayweather. His defensive skills I think are if not as good, better than Whitakers and he hits harder than it looks. In my opinion, he is the world’s Greatest!

  • ryan says:

    1. Marvin Hagler
    2. Sugar Ray Robinson
    3. Roberto Duran
    4. Joe Louis
    5. Henry Armstrong

  • Tunnie says:

How can you possibly claim Roberto Duran is the greatest boxer of all time? Sure he was a sensational fighter with brilliant knockout power but I think commenting he’s the greatest is going a step too far!

Forgive me if I’m incorrect but he was humiliated in the Sugar Ray Leonard rematch and gave up half way through the fight. Not to forget he was the subject of one of the most brutal knockouts ever seen at the hands of Tommy ‘Hitman’ Hearns.

Admittedly in his prime he dominated the lightweight division with hands of stone however when he stepped up to face the legends of his era such as Leonard and Hearns he was found wanting.

In my opinion it’s impossible to conlude who’s the best boxer of all time. By all means you can debate the best boxer of each era but boxing as a sport has developed over the years to such a degree it’s incredibly difficult to find tangible reasons to support an argument for any single fighter.

  • gazza says:

    1-mohammed ali

    3-roy jones junior
    4-sugar ray

It has to be Peter Manfredo Jr come on he’s achieved everything in boxing

  • Ukansodoff says:

Its Frank Bruno aint it, everybody knows that.

Hes also the greatest pantomine actor and has the greatest laugh in the world.

And he can fly. Bet you didnt know that.

  • nepster says:

SMG – I agree with most of your picks…but Money Mayweather? You’re kidding. He may be technically gifted, but what’s his level of competition? More than Sugar Ray Leonard? More than Roberto Duran?
More than Henry Armstrong? I could name AT LEAST 5-6 more off the top of my head…Mike Tyson,Holyfield, Foreman, Marciano, Julio Ceasar Chavez, etc. FMJ, MAYBE top 50.

  • SMG says:

Randy Turpin?????? How much alcohol did you have/How Drunk were you when you typed that one up. I have never heard of anything so far out.

    1.Sugar Ray Robinson
    2.Harry Greb
    3.Ali
    4.Joe Louis
    5.Money Mayweather
