DLH was fighting at 154 and Pac at 130 plus 1 fight at 135. Did you expect him to jump 3 divisions up? They fought at a catchweight which was the WW division. It was 1 division lower for DLH and 2 divisions higher for Pac.

Hatton just beat Mallignaggi, with style. He was slicker and boxed better because of the new trainer in Sr. He was fighting at his best division, where he never lost a fight.

It’s easy to talk about these fighters as shot and drained especially the way Pac made it look easy. Not saying they were at their primes, they were past it but certainly not shot.

Cotto demanded the fight to be at 145lbs, he got it. I too believe that he is a much harder opponent who is/probably still prime. Even at 145lbs, Cotto still have the advantage as he may end up weighing 10-14 lbs heavier than Pac. This is not as easy as majority predicts it to be.

With or without the belt, A win by either fighter deserves full credit and does not deserve biased commentary.

Judging from what it seems there is no doubt that this would be a great match. Both fighters have power u can attest to that with their previous fights. What i can see here its no whos the bigger and and stronger, its more on how delivering or executing the most punches. We know that cotto fades at round 6 onwards but cotto has good defense on the early rounds than when i think he should finish pacman. Manny ha tremendous speed and he could KO Cotto in the early or late rounds. Even you have accuracy its hard to hit a fast moving target.

If Manny wants to fight at 154lbs, then he needs to fight at 154lbs. Not bring the bigger fighters down to his weight while he’s still 140lbs strong. Its easier to keep your strength when you gain than drop weight

Kel, I must admit I agree with you. I know you know boxing but you must understand so do people like me. I have never met you but I love sharing ideas and philosophies about boxing. I trained at school when I was young, had great speed and sneaky power but I quit.
Why? I had no chin and it took great dedictation and lonely hours to get to the top. I knew I was not going to great so I moved on. But I will always love the sport and follow it. My brother actually did some amateur boxing in Canada. He had a perfect record 0 wins 2 losses.
He was a brawler and gave and took shots. His face and nose were busted after each fight. He quickly moved to the record industry where he is relatively successful.
Everyone is not Manny, Ali, Leonard or Duran. But if you know you are not great or will not be not dedicated go on to something else. I am a very successful business manager but have the greatest respect for boxers. They are very brave men but like anything else, we have to do what we are good at and when our time comes move on. Have a drink on me!

your telling us we are hysterical fans? come on! we are not the one underestimating cotto. you are the one underestimating pacquiao.
if i don’t think anymore. where are you preferring your facts by the way? it’s just your hinch!

A few things to add.

1 – are we forgetting he beat morrales and barrera twice (both boxers far superior to cotto and hatton and probably de la hoya as well.

2 – although i admire cotto, hes a warrior and will give 100% he will still get beat. you say paquaio will underestimate cottos speed, maybe but cotto will certainly underestimate pacquaios power.

3 – both men are of practically identical stature, cotto being slightly bulkier so no excuses there

and lastly why are people complaining about top fighters fighting each other and making excuses for fighters all the time. Boxing = 2 men same weight and one man wins nuff said

I think it would be crazy to doubt Pacman at the moment. Cotto did well against Clottey considering the cut, but his hands are not particularly fast and i see Pac moving in and out comfortably all night. Cotto is a big guy though and i do not see pac knocking him out but outworking him. sorry to the Hatotn Haters but he was at the top of 140lbs for for years and was a vicious fighter, Pac deserves more credit but Ricky was poorer than usual on the night. Roach studied ricky for months, Maweather Senior studied what fast food he could get before training and tried his best to get camera time. Pac execute the plan perfectly, hatton never had one. Pac by UD.
