Garcia wins by 2nd round KO

By Sam Gregory: ESPN2 Friday Night Fight’s from San Jose features in their co-main even undefeated Philadelphian Jr welterweight prospect, Danny “Swift” Garcia (12-0 7 KO’s) who squares off against Pavel Miranda (16-3 8 KO’s) in a scheduled eight round bout in the Jr welterweight division.

In round 1 Garcia came out throwing his jab trying to land his left hook; Miranda stayed on defense; Garcia landed a good jab and countered off Miranda’s jab. Garcia had a strong first round.

Round 2 Garcia dropped Miranda in the opening seconds of the round, Miranda beat the count. Garcia dropped Miranda for the second time to end the fight in 56 seconds of round 2. Danny Garcia wins by knockout.

    He is an exciting fighter but his defense is a bit lacking. Miranda got in a couple of good shots that backed Garcia off. I am not sure about Miranda’s power, but I suppose Garcia has a decent chin. I agree with Teddy Atlas, Garcia needs to step up to better competition. He had something like 120 amateur fights. I think he should step it up.
