IMO, the fact that Pac and JMM put on one of the fights of the year, and his ability to move through 4 weight classes (in one year!) and the excitement of ALL his boughts in 08 contsitutes fighter of the year. Were there others that faced tougher competition? MAYBE JMM, but if you're going to call ODLH past his prime, then you have to do the same for Joel Casamayor. So JMM fought Pac (and lost, regardless of what others say, a loss is a loss) and he beat a past his prime Casamayor. Was it B-Hop? He lost to Calzaghe. Was it Calzaghe? He fought PAST THEIR PRIMES B-Hop and RJJ. P Will Maybe? He got schooled by Quintana the first time around. So as you can see, you can make a case against ANYONE, but the overall consensus is the Manny Pacquiao had a damn good year.
