In one of the local news here in the Phillipines, have a interview with Manny.

Manny said “I would really like to go against the winner of FMWj vs JMM, But if you ask me, I would really like to have FMWj for a match coz he talks a lot of bull and trash” (tanslated)

Why I knew this? well, his one of my neighbor.

No kidding I live 2 blocks away from Mannys mansion here in General Santos Phil.

I differ. On his way to prove his greatness Manny is trying to go up and clean a few names in the welterweights. Cotto never call him, (It’s obvious that Bob Arum has a lot of interest $$$$ here) but this was’t his idea.

It’s also a matter of been one of the greatest in boxing, we can said “the pride” of been the holder of six divisional titles.

Manny is the most popular fighter at this but Cotto is also a big name. Is’t easy fill up the Madison Square Garden 3 or 4 times consecutively. I know Bob Arum want the whole cake, and the thing is that, apparently, the fight with Cotto it’s on track. For me that’s enough.

Shyon Kelly, get with the program mate! Pacman is the cash cow in boxing. He is the cross over star that everybody wants to fight. He is not chasing them, they are all chasing him. He is a natural 130 lber who recently moved to lighweight.
Oscar called him out because Oscar’s star was fading after very poor performances. So he called out Pacman and set the rules. Pacman accepted and moved up, not to 147 but to about 142. Oscar came down from the catchweight he fought Forbes at and that was less than 7 lbs. Hatton called him out and he again accepted but that was at Hatton’s 140 natural weight.
They all want Pacman but want him to gain weight that he can’t carry? Do you see Pacman calling out guys below him? If he did he should have to drop weight to fight them or it would not be a fair fight either.
When Pavlik and Winky Wright fought Hopkins, and Super Roy vs Trinidad, notice they all met at the midway point to make it even. In each case the naturally bigger man still won as normally is expected when a big meets a small. It is only exceptional guys that can still win.
Manny has shown he has heart and is willing to fight bigger guys. If they want to make a big payday and also get a chance to knock off the cash cow, why not shed the few lbs? If they don’t want just say no and walk away.
In boxing the cash cow always gets the lion’s share even if they are not the champion. If they are also the champ, they get an even bigger slice. I see nothing wrong with that. Ali, Leonard, Oscar and all of the previous cash cows dictated not just % split but also ring size, gloves and sometimes even referees and judges.
Do you really think that having to lose 2-3 lbs before a weigh is such a big deal for Cotto? What was his weight against Margarito and Clottey at the weigh in and fight night? That’s the key.
Personally, I think people make a bigger fuss than the boxers. They have nutritionists to guide them the right way. They will be making enough $ to hire on anyway.
Manny is not a welter and does not need to fight these guys. He is just trying to give fans some decent match ups that we normally won’t ever see. If they can reach a deal, let them do it.
Today’s fighters make too many excuses anyway. Guys used to go up and fight bigger guys without gaining extra weight or asking the bigger guy to come down. They just wanted to fight and did not give a crap.
That is why Armstrong was able to capture three different titles at his regular weight. Robinson also went up to midlleweight but initially was still a welter. That’s why they were great!
I still believe that Cotto is too big and that he may be able to walk thru Manny’s punches when he comes in at 160. That is why most welters do not want to fight Williams. He comes in way too large on fight night. Plus he has too much reach!

Miguel Cotto will weigh 145 at the weigh in if all the negotiations come through and that is not weight drained for him. Cottos nutritionist said that Cotto could come down to even 144 and not be weight drained so start thinking logically Shyon Kelly.

A FANS ADVICE TO MIGUEL COTTO
Why should Cotto have to move down in weight to give
Pacquaio the advantage? Pacquaio would not do the same for him, or give up any advantage.

MIGUEL COTTO IS THE GREATER FIGHTER, SO IF PACQUIAO
WANTS TO FIGHT, THEN LET HIM COME UP TO WELTER WEIGHT AND FIGHT.

WHY SHOULD COTTO TAKE LESS THAN 50% OF THE MONEY?
COTTO IS THE CHAMPION.
IF PACQUIAO WANTS YOU TO COTTO TO COME IN AT LESS THEN HIS FIGHTING WEIGHT OF 147, IT IS ONLY TO MAKE A FOOL OF HIM.

I BELIEVE THAT IF COTTO STAYS AT 147 HE WILL WIN WITHOUT A DOUBT, BUT IF COTTO COMES IN AS BAG OF BONES LIKE DELAHOYA AND RICKY HATTON, THEN OF COURSE PAQUAIO WILL WIN.

Am I the only one on the planet not interested in watching a pacquio vs. cotto fight? For one thing, Cotto should fight Clottey again in a much needed rematch. He got an early christmas gift with the decision he was awarded against Clottey. I wasn’t interested in the pacquio vs. Hatton fight either, because Hatton is a one dimensional fighter. He tries to grab/hold and rough house his opponent. His only other tactic is to walk head first into punches which had him taking a nap in the ring last I saw. I told a co-worker what would happen and it did. I want to see a fight with two great fighters, each with something to lose, and each with a good skill set. Mayweather vs. Mosley would be a great match up. Pacquiao vs. Marquez would also be good. If they meet at a catch weight, Pacquio vs. Mayweather would be great to watch as well.

Hec, my answer to your question is that Manny deserves to fight the guy that he wants. I’m not saying that he should cherry pick his opponents but would you consider a fair fight if Manny will fight Paul Williams as a welterweight?

We all know that Manny is the cashcow of boxing right now. Everybody wants to fight him to get money and popularity. I do beleive that if anybody wants to fight Manny, Manny and his opponent should fight in a catch weight that is fair to both boxers. Manny as a 140 lbs should gain 3 lbs more, And Miguel as a welterweight should drop 3 lbs. There should be a contract that states that whoever violates this condition should be penalised heavily.

just think back to before the cotto – margarito fight. there was no way that anyone in boxing would ever have thought that manny pacquiao would ever have even contemplated fighting the great miguel cotto. but now when there is a chance for this magnificent occasion to go ahead everyone seems to be trying their best to knock it. lets face it, none of us are professional boxers at this level. it would be a great fight. you all know it! so lets just hope for the sake of boxing, and all us fans, that they do reach an agreement to fight, that no one pulls out of the fight injured and that they put on a fine spectacle.

Loaded gloves or not, Margarito still humiliated Cotto big time. it’s acceptable if he got K.O by a cheating opponent, but he gave up. I dont think Cotto has a heart like Pacman, so I think Pacquiao has big chance on this one.

how is pac supposed to go after marquez or mayweather when they have a fight of their own. Pacmqn stated that he doesn’t want to wait for that fight result so he went after the best choice Cotto. And why the hell would he fight Paul Williams when he is a middle weight, the only possible way pac would fight him would be for Williams to come down to at least 145lbs. Oh wait then he woud be a shot weight drained fighter wouldn’t he.

donking, juan manuel marquez will never fight pac again he is too old and a win for pac would be seen as another graverobbing washout fighters. so pac would avoid marquez like a swineflu.
