Ward Dominates Miranda

By Matt Stein: Talk about a letdown. Undefeated super middleweight contender Andre Ward (19-0, 12 KOs) easily outclassed Colombian knockout artist Edison Miranda (32-4, 28 KOs) tonight, beating him by a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision in front of Ward’s home audience at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California.

Ward, 26, a former 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist for the United States, used movement, angles and fast hands to control the slower heavy-handed Miranda, making the Colombian miss often with his big knockout shots.

Miranda might have done a little bit better if he wasn’t trying to load up with every punch that he threw at Ward. It probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway, because Miranda didn’t have the size or reach needed for him to land with his big shots or his jabs.

The southpaw Ward easily picked Miranda off from the outside with jabs, straight lefts and right hooks without getting hit all that much by Miranda. The final judges’ scores were 116-112, 119-109 and 119-109. The 119-109 score was closer to the actual fight that took place, and I’m not sure which fight the judge was watching that scored it 116-112 for Ward.

I think the lack of comments on this prove how much interest ward provokes.

Ward did not dominate Miranda.Ward ran like a track star the hole fight. That was a pathetic display of boxing skill.Miranda was probably tired as hell after tryin to chase Ward down for 12 rounds.Ward did not impress me at all and will get his ass kicked against froch.
