Mora vs. Pavlik Off? – News

By Eric Thomas: According to Steve Kim of Max Boxing, the WBC/WBO middleweight title bout between champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs) and challenger Sergio Mora is off.

It seems that Pavlik has a staph infection on one of his hands and can’t fight. This is news that will surely disappoint a lot of boxing fans, because there were many fans that were looking forward to seeing Pavlik face Mora to see how Kelly would do against the wily “Latin Snake.” However, there has yet to be an official statement from Pavlik’s camp on the fight being off. There will be further updates as news come in.

Pavlik, 27, is coming off a 9th round stoppage over Marco Antonio Rubio in February, and is hoping to get a future bout against IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham.

I picked up a staph infection in Vegas. But after a course of anti-biotics, I was able to pee again no problem.

this proberbly was not the fight for either of them, his biggeset mistake was not to captalize, on the Taylor fight, and fight quality opponents before running in to Hopkins, as you pointed out, personaly thinking about, he appears to have very short time in the game

    catzeye83-

staphylococcus or staph as its regualry known is a group of bacteria that can cause a multitude of different diseases as a result of infection of various tissues of the body. Staph-related illness can range from mild and requiring no treatment to severe and potentially fatal.
Over 30 different types of Staphylococci can infect humans, but most infections are caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococci can be found normally in the nose and on the skin (and less commonly in other locations) of 20%-30% of healthy adults. In the majority of cases, the bacteria do not cause disease. However, damage to the skin or other injury may allow the bacteria to overcome the natural protective mechanisms of the body, leading to infection. Staphylococcal disease of the skin usually results in a localized collection of pus, known as an abscess, boil, or furuncle. The affected area may be red, swollen, and painful. Drainage or pus is common.

    hope that helps
