scott d ….. i have actually watched all of pacquiao’s fights and hattons fights. the only time i saw him box was after he was knocked down for the first time against eamonn magee.even in the malinaggi fight he was still getting caught with the check left hook.
and about ur southpaw comment…. it is just a waste of time for Ricky to keep training against an orthodox fighter. he needs all the help he can get.

and for oscar….. manny’s two losses were at lower weights but u have to take into consideration that when manny first started boxing he was fighting guys much much heavier than him!! he used to get on the scales with weights in his pocket so he could fight to earn money!!

I’m a fan of Pacman but i’m not discounting Hatton. Although Pacman evidently improved a lot, Hatton’s hands are not handcuff once he steps into the ring on May2.

C’mon guys, let’s respect everyone’s opinion. Let us just enjoy come fight night.

if hatton can just land a few shots he has a great chance. i have not seen a single sight that has talked about the fact manny has been knocked out twice if i am correct and at a lower weight. ricky has a good chance but i think his face will be in bits at the end of the night even if he wins.

And why is Hatton one dimensional? I have a theory, the Hatton haters on here, yes you too jon, have likely only seen 2, possibly 3 of his fights, and that will have been the last 2 or 3, you have no idea of his boxing skills prior to the Mayweather fight so you base all your comments on just 4% of his fights, rather than seeing the bigger picture. You all seem to think he is a straight up brawler, what you dont know is that he can box, he can move and he has a pretty mean jab which he can lead from successfully and create angles for further attacks. Yes he keeps coming forward, he is an aggressive fighter. This bulldozer gameplan he used over the past couple of years worked and he forgot his roots, that changed in the Malignaggi fight, even a novice like yourself would have seen that.

By your reckoning, Pacquiao is one dimensional. He gets in, throws flurrys and gets out. Basing on his last 2 or 3 fights of course, but the bigger picture shows he can brawl and fight effectively on the inside as well as moving and jabbing on the outside both attacking and defensively.

And by the way, im not English.

scott d u are blatantly english. ricky hatton is one dimensional and is a one trick pony. it is not exposing the gameplan by ricky hatton training to fight a southpaw u fool. and lala …… there have been many world champions that have lacked ability. to be a great world champion u need more, and although ricky is a good champion, he will always fall short against great champions.

what about hatton’s ability to cut off the ring, something de la hoya has never been able to do. your mostly basing someone’s ability on their performance against a weight drained and ageing fighter. david diaz is also a human punchbag. hatton fared well in the first few rounds against mayweather, confusing him with his footwork. what about ricky’s body attacks? i think both their strengths and their flaws make for an interesting fight.

how the hell can a one trick pony become the best light welter weight in the world(it must one hell of a trick),rickys obviously a come forward fighter,but hes done away with everybody but pbf,and done it in style,manny is not pbf and if pacman and pbf ever do fight (and i stress do,because rickys gonna hammer in)i think floyd would give him an arse whoopin,most of what iv seen of manny is exactly the same as rickys come forward approach,manny may be fast but so is ricky,well see if manny can handle rickys power,because lets face it,oscar was not anything to go by and ricky wouldv done exactly the same thing but i recon ricky wouldv got it done quicker,,bring on 2nd may

In the Luis Collazo fight Hatton had some bad moments but won the fight. Altough Malignaggi does not have a KO power he surely have the speed, the only jabs that effected Ricky (Malignaggi fight) was the first round, from round 2 onwards it was a different story.

I think Ricky will be effected with Pacquiao speed in the first few rounds but I think from round 4 onwards again will be another story that will pressure Pacquiao till the end.

it’s a great fight i think but Manny will pull it out in a very flashy way. Though ricky claimed improvements in speed and foot the real thing here is you cannot do it overnight… the fact that he is still slower than pacquiao is a big exploitation and his skill like a fighting bull will not work if you can’t even find your target. He’ll just move forward and find Manny’s fist beating his face
