Vic Darchinyan Moving up to bantamweight

darch5By Zubair Ali: Undisputed super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan (32-1-1, 26 KOs) will attempt to become a three weight world champion this summer when he locks horns with bantamweight king Joseph Agbeko (26-1, 22, KOs). Darchinyan is the WBC, WBA and IBF super flyweight champion with Agbeko holding the IBF bantamweight crown. Agbeko, known as ‘king kong’, has built a reputation as one of the best in the bantamweight division with his only defeat coming against future WBA champion Wladimir Sidorenko. Darchinyan, a former Olympian is also a six time world champion.

He recently beat two time world champion Jorge Arce producing a tremendous performance, in a thrilling action packed fight. Promoter Gary Shaw, who confirmed the fight would take place, most likely in June, believes the move up in weight should not be a problem for Darchinyan due to his natural size. “The fight is made,” Shaw told ESPN.

“It will be on Showtime and be a co-promotion between Don (King) and myself.” In what should prove to be an epic battle, Shaw is well aware of the difficulty in the task that lies ahead for his fighter. “This is a very tough fight. We have a lot of respect for the ‘King.’ The question is, will Vic bring his power up to bantamweight with him? I hope so.”

Dogtanion should move up i think it would suit him quite well and the possibility of him claiming another world crown is very realistic in my opinion.

Though i dont like him and wana see him fail

  • NevaHangEmloe says:

Agbeko, is underrated, he has an iron chin and a whole lot of heart, and he has a heavy hand. Vic has heart, and a heavy punch and his chin is not great, but good. I have agbeko takin em out late

  • Rasheed says:

So, when will Vic go after Donaire?
No matter how high he moves up, it means nil unless an old score is settled.

  • xdrtdttyfc says:

hes a quaility fighter and will be up near the p4p no1 spot
