James DeGale wants to fight on Martin Rogan’s undercard after being blown away by the new Commonwealth heavyweight champion’s defeat of Matt Skelton on Saturday. DeGale hailed Belfast hero Rogan as an inspiration following his KO win over the Bedford puncher in Birmingham.

By Nate Anderson: In one of the most exciting heavyweight fights I’ve ever seen before, former ‘Prizefighter’ heavyweight winner Martin Rogan (12-0, 6 KOs) stopped Matt Skelton (22-3, 19 KOs) in the 11th round on Saturday night to win Matt’s Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight title at the National Indoor Arena, in Birmingham, West Midlands.

As the preliminary instructions were made the shaven skulled champion looked menacing. His tanned and younger opponent (by four years) limbered up across the ring.

Undefeated featherweight Abraham Lopez thrilled the packed house at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California, on Friday night with a crunching second round knockout of Manuel Sarabia. With the win, the heavy handed 21 year old improved his record to 6-0-0 with five knockouts.
