Maccarinelli hails great Calzaghe

Cruiserweight boxer Enzo Maccarinelli has paid tribute to Joe Calzaghe, who announced his retirement from boxing this evening. Maccarinelli described him “the best British fighter ever produced”. Speaking to Setanta Sports News Maccarinelli said that Calzaghe “had nothing left to prove”. He said:
“He beat everyone put in front of him, he unified all the belts. He beat an American in his backyard. What more did he have to do?
“He’s a great ambassador for British sport.”

Top fighter, great role model. I hope he stays involved in boxing and passes on his knowledge and experience.
He has been plagued with injury and reading his autobiography was an eye opener to how severe that hand injury was / is.

Every man has his achilles tendon, and perhaps Joe did not fight every middle weight out there, but hell he obviously is a smart man, Boxing is more than just beating other boxers, it also who you fight and when you fight them, after all just about anyone of the top guys can beat or be beaten on good or bad day’s. And as we all know its styles that make fights, so all in all Joe did a great job of remaining unbeaten, good luck to him, HE SHOULD BE PROUD OF HIS ACHEIVEMENTS, and let any armchair boxer say whatever they want, he has nothing left to prove.

Good luck in your retirement joe and watch as many people now come on and call you a coward. Joe has been a fantastic ambassador for british sport and has proved his doubters wrong time and time again. 46-0 super joe calzaghe!!!
