Is Harrison Too Dangerous For Haye?
By Chris Williams: Earlier today, former Olympic Gold medalist heavyweight Audley Harrison (23-4, 17 KOs) called out David Haye (22-1, 21 KOs) for a fight, telling him “I’m sure the British public would love to see you send me into retirement,” referring to Haye’s need for an opponent now that Wladimir Klitschko has tired of negotiating with him and has abandoned his efforts for a June fight.
Now, he may not want to fight Harrison because some people feel that Harrison is damaged goods because of his four losses in the past four years to fighters like Danny Williams, Dominick Guinn, Michael Sprott and more recently to Martin Rogan, but I think Harrison might actually be a step too far for Haye and could very well knock him out if Haye were to give him a chance.
Nine years separates the two fighters and that alone would normally be a big plus for the 28-year-old Haye, but in this case I think Harrison has gotten smarter and would be able to use his age and wisdom to defeat Haye.
At 6’5″ 250, the southpaw Harrison would be a tough opponent for Haye right off the bat. This isn’t the smallish 37-year-old Monte Barrett that Haye had troubles with in defeating in November. Harrison when he’s motivated and has his back to the wall brings much more power, reach and a knockout threat than Barrett ever could in a fight and Haye would be hard pressed just to get by Harrison’s long jab.
Harrison may have lost his last fight to Rogan, a tough club fighter type opponent, in a 10-round decision loss, but Harrison had him hurt on a number of occasions with thunderous left uppercuts including in the last round. It was only because of Rogan’s iron chin that he was able to take Harrison’s big shots without going down for the count.
With Haye, though, I can’t see him taking anywhere close to the kind of huge shots that Harrison was landing on Rogan. Believe me, if Harrison lands those same kinds of shots against Haye, you’ll see Haye hitting the canvas and needing to stay down for a long time just like he did after Barrett dropped him in the 5th. Except in this case, Haye wouldn’t be given a gift by the referee ruling it a slip.
Harrison will plant him and keep him planted. If Haye was to get up, Harrison has always proven to be a good finisher when he’s had a fighter hurt. He’d go after him immediately and take him out with a couple of well aimed left uppercuts to the head.
That’s why I doubt that Haye will want to take on an experienced, risky fighter like Harrison. If anything, we’ll see Haye against a Carl Drumond or maybe a Brian Minto type fighter that he doesn’t have to worry about being knocked out by.

Is Harrison Too Dangerous For Haye?
Yes he would bore him to death with yet another dull fight from fraudly
Audley Harrison is a joke of a fighter. He looked good as an amatuer and performed well in the Olympics, but since turning pro he has done nothing but hide behind his south-paw stance. The man wanted to be a champ but seemed to think he could do it without getting punched!!!!!!
Haye would destroy him, Harrison took to long to throw his punches against Rogan, who i might add had only fought 10 pro fights before taking on Harrison, and each one came with a warning note, hes not fast enough and is scared to get hit so takes no risks. Haye would break him down in 3 and KO him in 4.
Also, Haye didnt have problems making Cruiserweight, all the talk of struggling to make the weight was psychological, Mac fell for it, Haye walked to the scales drinking a protein shake, hardly the actions of man who had weight issues.
let me tell you exactly how this fight would go!! the two fighters come out of their corners as always harrison would come out far too defensive and wouldn’t throw a single punch because it’ll move his hands away from that massive yet fragile chin of his.
hay would know that this is going to happen just like everyone else who’s ever seen the big fairy “fight” and so would come out throwing big punches and sooner rather than later puttin the fraud spark out! 1st round ko
but people would still write crap about haye saying it was a waste of time and he should have been fighting someone worthy of testing him rather that going for the easy fights
If Haye was weight draining himself in order to fight at Cruiserweight, then why didn’t he start his career at Heavyweight?Bunch of BS IMO.Haye has been pounding back the cheesebugers lifting weights like hell to be 220.He is a natural Cruiserweight and he’s playin you guys like fools if you believe that line of sh*t.As for Harrison.I think it would be a good fight for about 5 rounds. Then i think Haye would start to pick him apart assuming Harrison hasn’t hit him with any large punches. It’s better for Haye’s health if he turns his attention to some contenders rather then be KTFO by Wladimir.
oh and he would get knocked the hell out aswell. Within 3 rounds
Harrison trying to catch a last chance to make some money
Ok if this isn’t a joke you have now proved you are. Are you just trying to wind people up? I wudn’t even given fraudley half a round LOL! This is comedy at its highest point and i thought this was supposed to be a place to seriously discuss boxing =D
I assume this was written as a joke? Haye would win inside 2. Infact Barret would knock Harrison out in 2. There is no way Haye fights Harrison, not because Harrison is good but because he would get more respect and a tougher fight from a 6 yr old girl
dear oh dear
Chris pal…can i ask you a question? Are you Michael Lieberman in disguise? It’s just that you’ve both got one glaringingly similar characteristic. You both know nothing about boxing.Surely Chris Williams and Michael Lieberman are one and the same person.
one name “MICHAEL SPROTT” comes to mind ,if he can knock out that big numbty haye would destroy him, what a joke..
where does this site get its writers from?
i cant believe anyone takes this jibberish seriously!
my 2year old daughter knows more about boxing than half the writers on this site!
pathetic!
is this guy stupid. he got beat by a taxi driver and he wants 2 fyt som1 tht could beat the klitshkos
u reckon harrison to dangerous for haye hahahahahahahaha! for a start he dosnt throw punches so thats never a good start second i believe you said wisdom when describing harrison have you heard this man talk! and last but not least the man just got beat by a real walking talking taxi driver! i should know the man gave me a lift home last year!
you can not be serious. have you ever seen fraudly fight. the guy is a joke who didnt make the transition to the pro game. i have seen all of his fights and evan wasted money watching him live twice, including against danny williams at the excel arena london the first time they met. that was a stinker. it was so bad the crowd were chanting for frank bruno!!!!! you need to give haye credit as he was UNDISPUTED cruiser champ, apart from once every time he’s been down he’s got up to win by ko. how can you insinuate that he wants an easy fight when he was trying to secure fights with the klichko’s
OMG! Chris Williams you have excelled yourself this time!
No matter how much you hate Haye, Fraudley/Audrey doesn’t even to be in the same ring as him. He just got his ass whooped by a 37 year old taxi driver to boot!
It always makes me wonder why you writers on here hate the Brits who are a threat to your own fighters. The likes of Calzaghe, Hatton & Haye.
Yet you go out of your way to make the bottom of the barrell british fighters like Audrey & Junior Witter sound far more impressive than they actually are.
Harrison, cant possibly the worst thing to come out of Britain. Has one convincing win over Danny williams before getting ko’d in his next fight. My god, Haye wouldnt even need a full round with him. the guy sucks. Tyson Fury would eat him alive as well.
Its not just his last 4 defeats its his opposition and his performance. Pathetic on both fronts.
And quite clearly you dont get David Haye. He may have a weak chin, he may be short on stamina, or he may of had both improved now hes not having to weight drain himself.
But what we do know is what his ambition is. He wants to be world champion. Is he good enough? who knows, you think not. But he wants the chance to find out, and quick. Hes not scared of anybody, he will want a big opponant to keep himself in the reckoning. He may lose but hes not afraid to try.
The truth is Chris yet again you know nothing, your not saying what you honestly think your just on the wind up.
A fight with Harrison would not be good for him, hed have a decent little payday in Britain, but hed get slated for his choice of opponant by the rest of the world.
Though the British public would like this cuz we hate Harrison so much. And i dont think for a minute Harrison would be any threat.
He may gob off about it alot, he may even sound convincin but im not guna be fooled the mans a joke and would get smashed up.
As if. As if.
Harrison wouldnt have time to blink. He would get suck halfway between closing his eyes and opening them
